Up next : West Kenya Sugar

Gor Mahia will face West Kenya Sugar in the next round of the FKL cup which will be played on Sunday Sept 4. The match will be played at the Nairobi City stadium. West Kenya Sugar were the runners up of the FKL cup last year. Both teams benefited from the best looser rule. Whereas Kogalo lost to Congo Boys on penalties, West Kenya Sugar lost to AFC Leopards.

Fans hope Ochomo brings his striking boots

The timing of the match is unfortunate because some Gor Mahia players will feature for the national team on Saturday against Guinea Bissau in the Africa cup qualifier. These players will be missing from the lineup on Sunday. Among them is dependable defender Eric Masika and Kevin Ochieng.

The timing of the match is also unfortunate because it comes at a time when Coach Zico has been busy with the national time and as such has not had time to study the opponent and come up with a game plan. Besides that, Gor Mahia’s form has been lacklusture of late and teams are openly declaring that they have found the formula for defeating Kogalo.

With hopes of winning the league in jeopardy, fans who are eager to see continental football next year will be hoping for a good performance in the FKL cup. And West Kenya Sugar are not to be taken lightly. They have eliminated quite a few premier league teams in the last 2 years.

If ZD won’t be there then it will be a boon for the team..remember GM drew with Yanga in Arusha in his absence and GM was missing over five dependable players at the time..am only falling short of declaring that we played better football in Arusha that day.

Alot of Kogalo followers will not miss ZD i can bet..maybe Masika will be missed but Kevin Ochieng is very much replaceable.

By the way does this ZD have a game plan or any different approach other than long balls..

Agwa Kassam @ No:1 YOUR VALID POINT IS WELL NOTED!

COACH “ZICO” ABSENCE IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE.

The fact that may be non of Kogalo players apart from Kevin OChieng or probably Gattuso will participate in harambee Vs Guinea Bisau match then there is no need to worry at all.

Secondly “ZICO” should keep off the technical and give room for others to show-case there capabilities in his absence so tha they can be evaluated and appraised accordingly.

  • Guys, we seem to forget very fast. The team that played Brazil later on played Rangers and the result was for all to see. Our players and asst. coach should be able to handle this team despite the coach being away for only one week. Otherwise we would be implying that our coach cannot even be sick lest we lose yet we know he is only human. I believe we have the people and the experience to handle this opponent without ZD being there though as the coach (and he will be free after the saturday match) there is no reason for him not to be there

The game will be won for sure, there is nothing to stop Kogalo in this one. You fans whoever you are you are using this space badly, attacking the coach left and right, thats not very good. While you have the right to criticise, I think we are taking it a little too far. All games in this league are tough and remember it is only beating Gor that now inspires any team. The fact that they have minimised the level of losses must be appreciated. That nice football that you are talking about may not necessarily win matches. I know that the last nine matches will be crucial and we need to be scoring goals and any of the top 10 teams can still win the league including Sony and AFC Leopards. Rather than spend all our energies in bashing the coach, you are supposed to be psyched to accept any out comes including finishing at number 5. Let me ask, if you attack the coach this way what do you gain?

  • Well said @Ja Thur gi ji. One’s slogan cannot just be ‘ Zedi must go’. They need to offer ideas also. When @Kisero reasons wth them he is called names yet his ideas might help the team in the long run. Kwani GM is expiring this year in that they must just win the league this year. We should have a long-term strategy where we are thinking about an academy, youth team, a club house and stadium (and other income generating investements). With these attracting even the best coach and players will not be a problem. I’m worried that the one-way thinking of our fans is what at times begets violence since some of us things have either to go our way or no way at all. Let’s support the team in the FKL cup and the remaining matches, keep the faith and have the post-mortem in November where we can decide the fate of the coach, management, players and even some fans.

@Ja Thur gi ji I totally agree with you. The coach should not be the subject of discussion from January to December surely. Some fans on this blog are like William Ruto, who would never miss an opportunity to mention Agwambo’s name even where he does not deserve.@Dan, that is exactly what I have been advocating. Lets wait for the season to end then make the necessary changes if need be. “Gor is not expiring tommorow” I like that. Whatever the outcome, it will be a lesson learnt. The shortcomings this season will help whoever will be in charge next season to build a formidable side. We all learn from our mistakes. Patience, Patience, Patience. I am sure some will ask patience until when. Just a little longer. End of season is approaching. For God and my club Kogallo

WE NEED SOBER AND TACTIFUL APPROACH IN BUILDING
KOGALO BOTH NOW AND IN THE NEAR FUTURE

@10 Albert Kosero (Sofaset Branch – Kampala), I salute you for the humble , polite and most of all mature and calculated approach while debating issue’s pertaining to our beloved club. It may sound sycophantic to many of our colleague’s on this blog; but surely we need to tone down our harsh critic’s and abusive language againist the coach once and for all.

Suppose things turn out in Ko-galo’s favor since we never know” MPIRA NI KAMA KARATA” in the remaining nine matches.

    Then the best things i will expect to read from this blog are “APOLOGIES”. Remember even biblically quotes from jesus that say;

    1. The stone that the builders rejected turned out to
    be the main “PILLAR”
    2. During the last super jesus told his “APOSTLES” or
rather the “FOLLOWERS”; That today i will be trayed
by one of you through a “KISS” and when PETER
responded by saying that he will fight to the end
“IT WAS PRE-EMPTED TO HIM THAT BEFORE DAWN THE COCK
WILL CROW THREE TIMES BEFORE HE DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE
    OF THE KING.

    GOR MAHIA NOW NEEDS TWO THINGS ONLY FROM HIS FOLLOWERS;

    1. PEACE, PEACE AND PEACE.
    2. PATIENCE , PATIENCE AND PATIENCE

AT THIS MOMENT AND TIME GOR-MAHIA IS STILL IN CONTENTION FOR TWO SILVER-WARE’S BOTH THE 2011 KPL CUP
    AND FKL CUP.

So for those of us who are faint-hearted and over zealous with immediate success i beg you to relax and just enjoy the game ,period!. Do not exceed your highly
charged expectation just like “SIMON PETER” and “JESUS”.

UTAKATA MTU MASIKIO AND JESUS IS NOT AROUND TO DO THE DAMAGE REPAIRS.

Football is a game of passion and entertainment as well. We go to watch GM first and foremost as social gathering for us and secondly to be entertained.

keep it @10 Albert Kosero (Sofaset Branch – Kampala)

Guys, Ja thur gi ji and others who want to appear more friendly to ZD than others i must say this or rather let me come clear on these issues..

1.GM for many years until recently was known for in depth scouting of fresh and effective talents, ZD guy has managed to scuttle a good team of young talents recruited from academies and High Schools. How again do you think you’ll mesmerize us with ideas of academies to nurture n nurture.. you guys have a choice to applaud him for that but for me i wont.
Which future are you talking about if future talent is destroyed..he has failed to sustain the future going.

    2. The stadium, academy and commercial ventures you’re talking about are very different issues and it will take you a lifetime searching for a GM fan opposed to such projects..thus your insinuations to slot in politics in this agenda remains futile ab initio.

3.Lest you think people wish ZD should leave from a personal stand point..remember nothing is personal in any office as long as you’re in any service you deliver, keep the corporate culture and maintain interpersonal relations with colleagues or ship out!

4.Lastly for now we cannot change the fact that we played Yanga to a draw in Arusha without ZD on the bench and a big percentage of our dependable players. Can’t that show you we’re better off without arrogance and sabottourism.
The Management, ZD’s fate is already in the fans hands and no amount of politics, sympathy and sycophancy changes that!

    2011 LEAGUE MATCH.

@ 12 Agwa Kassam ; you have said it all and let those who are still in slumber-land as regards the position of the coach to come to terms with reality of the situation as it is at the moment.

We as fans must impress in what we truly invest in as KO-GALO family and as you so put straight and square we have nothing personal against the coach other than demanding better performance from the office he is running. And if he is not up to task then the best thing for him is to either “SHAPE UP TO OUR DEMANDS or SHIP OUT” and let somebody else take the mantle period!

  • @Agwa and @Jabilo please tone down. The people with differing opinion also love the club (Maybe even more). As far as we know there is no CRISIS to warrant radical surgery which may even leave us in more trouble. The moment we think more of our love for the club and not the personal hatred towards the coach we are not doing ourselves any favour. The goodness with this blog is that we have all shades of GM fans. There are the radical ones, the patient ones, etc but the management makes the final decision. @Jabilo, when you say someone else takes the mantle who do you have in mind? For your info coaches worth their salt will inquire why and how the previous holder left the office and come with their own conditions which some fans like you will not like. Try and talk to coaches within and hear their view on coaching GM, all due to some of our fans. I’m involved with some of them and know what i’m talking about.

By the way who is intimidating who here. Is it Okoth Jabilo intimidating ZD or ZD intimidating Jabilo. I keep saying that if changing coaches was a solution, then Congo United would have been crowned KPL champions by now even with 9 matches to go. AFC would not be languishing in 10th position. Why are we obssesed with firing coaches. Even if you bring Jesus to coach Gor, I am sure the next day the very impatient lot will be baying for his blood. For God and my club Kogallo

And why are you denying that ZD’s had a whole season and this is his second nearing end with performance wanting as days go by! Dan what do you mean by personal hatred? Kindly withdraw the statement. Now that you’re involved with coaches advice ZD that in his next station..let him remember that when ghost inherited a team from the late fabisch he kept the team and used the group to qualify for the afcon ’04,also advice him that the players he’s victimising 4 having been rectruited by his predecessors also deserve a career. I wish to thank once more our officials for their wise decision to register GM in the FKL tournament.

I want to state very categorically that West Kenya Sugar is a good side. They were the runner’s up last year and they want to prove on Sunday their meetle. Moreover GM is now a big team every minnow want to beat..

The Sunday clash is therefore significat to us.I know some of our boys are away on national duty. Coach Zico himself gonna be away for the same reasons. This should not be an excuse for lackluster. Instead it should provide a golden opportunity to the regulars to prove their worth.

On the now too common subject of whether Coach Zico should go or not, I leave it to good judgement of our fans to pass a verdict. My colleagues have said it all.
Coach ZD has been the problem . The problem is YOU.

How? This is a story for another day.

We have been patient with zico for several months now. Zico’s style of football is outdated and stale. This is the main reason why Zico is taking Gor and Harambee Stars nowhere. The Zico sympathisers, where the former style of Gor Mahia of opening up opponents of sleak and accurate crisps passes that used to make us enjoy Kogalo football? Unless we have closed our memories to look back on how we used to play our game. On coaches, there are many coaches in the market like ripe oranges that can handle Gor Mahia. Zico has killed many talented players in the guise of lack of form and victimisation of players that they belong to so and so. All Gor players are equal to the tasks if given the right opportunity. What pattern of football do we play these days? I have attended all Gor Mahia games but I have never understood the pattern zico is deploying in our matches. There is nothing to be admired on Zico. It is a matter of time for us to demand for his dissmal. My verdict is that Zico should be fired.

And I ask again what are the benefits of retaining Zico as coach for even one more day-Answer absolutely ZERO. The style he has introduced at GM is tastless and ineffective. He has not achieved anything at stars either. Finally I can assure you that there are many competent coaches all over the world who would be willing to coach GM for one reason and only one reason its passionate fanbase, its upto to the office to wake up and employ this coach-Job Omino got Len Julians so y Ambrose can get GM a coach of that calibre

My question therefore is, who do you guys want to take over as the head coach of Kogallo? If am not wrong ZD joined GM from Chemelil during Gidi’s second stint at Kogalo. This was when GM’s boys like Blackberry, Duncan Owiti and Ibrahim Kitawi were so good that they all earned calling to the national team. Gedion obviously did quite well with GM that’s why he was re-called due to public (GM fans) demand.
As for Congo United I could explain it on culture shock. He could not just survive in Mombasa.

  • ZICO IN PRE TRIAL CHAMBER II

To use the analogy of the now familiar ICC, our beloved Zico is being subjected to the trial chamber ii from GM fans.

The tactician is allegedly accused of taking GM to the dogs. On the bench are Mwakio, Agwa kassam & oduor12. The chief prosecutor is Albert Kosero of the Sofaset branch.

My million dollar question is, do you think coach Zico will get a fair trial?

Much has been said about the coach. He is incompetent, arrogant & rude. I have also heard people allege that he is an experimentalist. These are very wild allegations against a coach of repute such as Zico.

I respect all of your opinions. But what is measured at the end of the day is results. Zico has already surpassed his target compared to last year. Although we are lying in third position in the KPL table standing, I am optimism we shall top the league this year. What’s more, we are seeing a cohesive team. The iallege victimisation of players is a figment of wild imagination.

The coach was recruited among the best in the country. He has an impressive CV. He is a former international and GM player. He helped the club to the second position during the 2010 KPL season. George blackberry moved to the paying ranks thanks to his tutilage. His engagement currently at the national team, Harambee stars is not a fluke of luck. Somebody must have spotted his potential.

Whether he is going to be dropped or not is not my province. When that time comes, I will confidently come out to write his chapter at Gor. His credentials, competence & perfomance at GM is an indelible mark that cannot be erased.

Finally, in the bible, Nehemiah set out to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem that was in ruin for years. Tobias & sanbalat mocked his work throughout. However this could deter the servant of God to complete the work in a record 52days! I strongly believe coach zico will deliver the KPL & FKL trophy to us this year!
