Update on Frank Nuttall saga

There are reports that member of Parliament Eliud Owalo is brokering a deal between the club officials and Frank Nuttall and the club officials and that they have agreed in principal that Nuttall will be in Mombasa with the team this Saturday and a deal is being worked out. Meanwhile the club posted a statement explaining the current stalemate

Statement by the club

Our attention has been drawn to what purports to be a Press Release by FRANK NUTTALL regarding his contract with the Gor Mahia Football club. In the said Press Release, Mr. Nuttall states in material part and we quote: –

“The reason for termination of my contract is because the Executive Committee of Gor Mahia club wanted to reduce my salary by 50% whereas my contract clearly provided for a 10% increase of my salary from 1st January, 2016.”

That statement is inaccurate and it is important that we put the record straight. Throughout last year we struggled to pay Mr. Nuttall’s salary of Kshs.700,000/= per month.

We offered him several 3 bedroomed fully furnished apartments in Kilimani at rents between kshs.120,000/= and Kshs.150,000/= per month, but he declined saying they were substandard.

As a result he lived at the Nairobi Serena where the club paid an average Kshs.600,000/= per month. At the end of the season, the Executive Committee delegated the Senior Vice Chairman TO RENEGOTIATE Mr. Nuttal’s emoluments.

The two met and it was proposed to Mr. Nuttall that he should take a 50% pay cut and a monthly house allowance of Kshs.120,000/=.

He informed the Senoir vice Chairman that in principle that was acceptable to him because he wanted tokeep his job, but he would first want to consult his family.

He returned to Scotland and from where he sent an email asking us to put the proposal in writing which we did on 29th December, 2015.

He replied on 31st December, 2015 saying: – “Thank you for your recent mail giving me up to 5pm today to accept or decline your pay cut’

“Owing to the love I have for the Club and being aware of the financial constraints facing the Club, I considered and can now confirm that you can proceed to prepare the new contract as you have suggested.”

We prepared a contract along those terms and sent to his advocate for signing or comments.

On 2nd February, 2016 the lawyer redrafted a new contract where Mr. Nutttall now wanted a salary of Kshs.770,000/= a house allowance of Kshs.250,000/=, a sturdy 4wheel vehicle, numerous out of pocket allowances among others. We have responded to Mr. Nuttall’s advocate and are awaiting his response.

The matter is therefore still an administrative one and after the match in Mombasa we shall be meeting with our branch officials to give them a full report and then agree on a way forward.

Yours faithfully.

Ronald Ngala.

For: GOR MAHIA FOOTBALL CLUB

We need further clarification

The statement above fails to explain what happened to the apartment that Evans Kidero donated to the club. It was first used by Zdravko Logarusic. When he left, Bobby Williamson moved in. When Williamson left the club, a deal was struck between FKF and Gor Mahia such  that Williamson would stay at the apartment while FKF would foot the bill for the new Gor Mahia coach to live at a hotel. So why is Williamson still occupying that house while Nuttall lives at Serena hotel? And why is the club now paying for Nuttall’s accomodation when it is FKF who should be paying.

  • Give Nuttal a contract and attach Africa Champions to it. You shud have known that the moment any foreign coach succeeds their behaviour tends to b the same, ‘ pay me more or I go’. Nuttal simply accessed one thing, the fans love him n there is know way they would allow his exit. That is what you call a check-mate. My advice to you EC ppl…go with the flow for now, unless you want to play the deadly ‘paka na panya’ games with the fans. If you want more advice….tuko tuu around.

  • Complete nonsense.clarify what has been asked above then zip your pockets and stop stocking our gate collections money.the money we contribute at the gates alone are more than enough to pay the technical bench but because it’s “our time to eat” you’re after filling your accounts in total disrespect to our sacrifices. If Nuttal is asking for more then it’s because he deserves it.we will be ready to play this game with you.help us manage our funds well and everyone will have a full plate to consume.NUTTAL STAYS.

UKOLONI MAMBOLEO…MZUNGU fleecing poor black africans. What about JBO and OUNA don’t they also deserve to be reinstated and be paid accordingly. ?

let’s get fair with our treatment of local black coaches. If a foreign white coach can demand to be paid so much money and yet we know he doesn’t work alone…then our own local black assistant coaches should be paid just as much. If nutall comes back then Ouna and JBO should also be given a chance.

Its worst mistake ever the coach frank nutall has committed returning back to coaching gor he will ever regret one day he could have moved on

Time is coming when he will b frustrated by jolawi obondo, ogweno and jerry onyango untill he cant produce any results.
    Check out this space.

The business of SportpesA is to make abnormal profits and consistency winning by gormahia will not be tolerated by sportspesa coz all those betting will win and sportspesa will loose by paying them. That’s why they need a coach who will produce mixed results. If these don’t happen the sportspesa can approach players and give them money to throw away victory

    • “Blackmarket ” as you call yourself, it’s wise to engage the brains before you mention people’s name in a medium like this..it can amount to defamation and I hope you have a clue the possible legal implications. The guys you are metioning above have been the reason behind Nuttall’s success at Gor, they’ve fought hardest for him to stay at Gor…Nuttall himself can attest to that.

  • Jakoyo, if I didn’t know you well I would have taken your words/sentiments seriously. If you look at yourself in the mirror, do you believe in what you’re saying!! The two assistant coaches were never sacked by nobody. Ouma Frank has deserted the team while JBO RESIGNED! Therefore spare us of your unqualified sympathetic utterances.

Swali ni how can u sign a sponsorship contract that caps the coaches salary & then claim that your hands are tied 2 that capping when you know that your initial contract with that coach is a higher salary & he’s performed, remember we’re not idiots, you now have other free sources income to bridge the deficit, spare us this mambo jambo ya local this & local that, its bloated EC that has put up & operates this unfair salary structure, KRA please do not penalize mighty K’galo but simply do a wealth audit on Rachier (aka rodriguez) & team. To Jokogalo,so long as there is no audited accounts pegged to true/publically declared/transparent gate collections then 4get this bullshit of GM sucko, mara paybill that haina updates, WHAT WE NEED IS 5000 FANS 2 UNDERWRITE ANY SPONSOR BY DIVIDING 50M BY 5K FANS BY 12MONTHS WHICH MEANS EACH CONTRIBUTING 834 PER MONTH BUT EC/ITS CARTELS WILL NEVER ALLOW ACCOUNTABILITY/ TRANSPARENCY IN GOR MATTERS, KAGERE & OLUNGA HAVE MORE INSIDE INFO THAN ME/DAN.O HENCE THEIR DEMANDS.

Thank You Mr.Ngala (for nothing) your elaborate but foolish airing of Nutal’s emoluments means everybody especially KRA are now in the know, hope you’ve all the PAYE according coz non compliance can set back GM a few millions, talk of ineptness. As for sabotaging the head coach woe be onto any such person should the case reach Gor’s Disciplinary Committee if in doubt ask club legend Zico about his tenure coach.

@blackmarket. ..firstly,your own name betrays you…goes to show how fake you are.For your information, Sportpesa betting is not only about Gor but all teams the world over.Get your facts right before you post misleading articles. They have sponsored Gor to market their brand and everybody wants to be associated with a winning brand. .me included,I don’t know about you and jakoyo!!

@oswozo moziek…well said. There are people here who are clueless with what is going on.If the coach is performing we don’t care if he is black or white so mambo ya ukoloni as put by jakoyo does not make sense.
Some members of the EC plus the likes of jakoyo are all enemies of development and bad for football. We must get rid of such low lifes! !
