Video Highlights: Gor Mahia vs Lobi Stars
The two coaches had contrasting reactions to the match.
Coach Hassan Oktay: Its a good result but we had more chances to make the score 4-1 or 5-1 easily.
Coach Solomon Ogebede: It was not a good result. But I still have some of my good players who will be available
Samuel Onyango, the two goal hero, spoke to the media after the match. He noted that the win was a confidence booster but the club still has an uphill battle during the return leg in Enugu.
On why the team did not score more in the second half, Onyango noted that they wanted to score more goals. But the second half was not easy as Lobi Stars proved a tough nut to crack in the second half.
On why the team started the season poorly with sub par performances against Bandari, Kariobangi and Nyasa Bullets, Onyango noted that the team has worked hard since then, the new players have gained an understanding with the rest of the team and the team is adapting to the new coach’s tactical approach.
On his expectations for the return leg, Onyango said the team has high hopes for emerging triumphant and he called on the fans to continue supprting the team.
Coach Solomon Ogebede why were those good players of yours not available in Nairobi? How do you leave your good players on an away match? The only good Nigerians are J.J.Okocha, Nwanko Kanu, Sunday Oliseh and Emmanuel Amunike. The rest belong to The Hague. We know you are intent on mistreating us back in Nigeria as is your custom, but remember God is already aware.
When we played that small bullet of Malawi, their fans were all over on GM wall and their Facebook account. To say the least, Nyasa Bullets were really noisy. When it turned out that our next opponents were our brothers, the Ogas and Ogidis from Nigeria, I expected more noise than ever experienced before. Our brothers are generally noisy when it comes to supporting their teams. I now know that there is truth in the Luo saying that” GWOK MA OGO MABER OK -YWAGI’. Nyasa was not properly beaten, but Lobi Stars must remain quiet because a dog that is beaten properly does not yell.
Hehe…ni guok ma olos maber muche orumo ma onge ma oywakgo. Kare onego adog e refresher mar goyo guogi. Meka ka goyo to ywak ahinya…
Hehehe, Musymo, animal rights activists are following……..
@BB that was too hilarious to pass up. Talking about animal rights activists, when we start valuing our pets before humans then you we have been fully Westernized. You know how these white dudes value their pets. They even have dentists on retainer.
Here we go again retreating to our cocoons, sticking our heads in the sand like the proverbial ostrich, going into hibernation ati GO, GO,GO BOYS, MARA GOR HOOYEE instead of demanding/ confirming that our heroes be paid immediately.
The players did their part and won BUT HAVE THEY BEEN PAID THEIR NOV18 SALARIES TODAY IS 17 DAYS AFTER MONTH END.
While in Nigeria what will their wives and children back home in Kenya eat?
Has the club paid Nov18 NHIF for the players, so that at least their families are medically covered as they give their all for the Nigeria return match.
It is time for fans, stakeholders and entire Gor Mahia fraternity to return the favour and compel EC to pay the players their Nov18 salaries immediately, no IFS, no BUTS. SP has given EC the players salaries not only for Nov18 but also for Dec18 as well.
JASEGO , JAKOYO HAVE THE PLAYERS BEEN PAID AT LEAST THEIR NOV18 SALARIES!
BE BLESSED JOTUGOWA
I think Jakoyo is best placed to answer this pertinent question. He assured us the other day that the players’ salaries would be fixed by Friday midday. We need an update.
I pray that that matter has been sorted out. What we should actually be doing right now is to make the last touches on our travelling plans to Enugu. This is not the time to start making arrangements because we knew that this fixture has a home and away leg. We must not give the Nigerians any benefit of doubt that perhaps they will not mistreat us. Their inborn corruption and insatiable appetite for money will make them stop at nothing to get into the money brackets of this tournament. Wait till our boys are served Okro soup then you will know that a Nigerian knows nothing like fairplay.
After a well deserved celebration of our win over Lobi stars , we must not lose sight of the fact that there are issues that need to be sorted out with utmost urgency and that is the welfare of those that give as that cause of celebrations and that is the playing unit .
Unfortunately , going by historical trends that even if sorted out for now will keep on rearing its ugly head in the not so distant future , with the crop of leadership we have , our wishes will remain just that-wishes .
My long term worry is that were elections to be called to right these wrongs , who amongst the many of us would offer themselves for these positions , leave alone to vote , I turned up to vote the last time and the calibre of people who turned up to vote or rather those who were ferried to vote , left me uninspired , scared and very worried about how we are very active on social media but when the rubber meets the road , we leave the destiny of the club in the hands of hired drunkards from wherever .
What worries me going forward is that amidst these crisis , absent from sight are those who from out of the blue will turn up extolling lofty blueprints that is spectacular in letter but lacking in spirit , lofty ideas that any intelligent can come up with to justify the means to their end , all this ending up that again his majesty would
end up winning courtesy of being the least bad of the crop and then the vicious cycle would continue , with angry tweets and posts on social media from spineless social media “warriors”.
Anybody with an average IQ will appreciate the fact that we as a club are so far behind where we should be , fortunately we know why , but unfortunately we prefer to sit in our comfort zones and hope that by some majic somebody else will do it because we have all the time to complaints but no time to engage and like they say , bad leaders are chosen by the ones who choose not to engage .
We pride ourselves in having millions of fans , Nairobi alone has massive numbers but less than 2000 come out to vote , majority of the 2000 being the ones who vote on the basis of 500 , a few glasses of illicitic brew and transport to and from wherever .
And thats how we end up with the ARs and the Nyangis who in my opinion is not even good enough to lead a muguka whatsapp group .
So when next the call is made to rise and right these mediocrity , what are you gonna do ?
*lofty ideas that any intelligent conman can come up with as a means to justify their ends
Muguka WhatsApp group? Wooii, Teddy Sofaset!
Hehehe, this blog has interesting personalities indeed! Nyakwar Ogonjo Rahiti, hehehe, let us tone down on inflammatory rhetoric that is likely to threaten our peaceful coexistence with man’s best friend! Hehehe!
Please put politics aside untill we are done with Lobi stars on friday.
@Oduor 12, unfortunately we still live from hand to mouth.
Due to demands to honour yesterday match, players were paid only 1/3 of what is due to them ( full allowances and part salaries) and offcourse as usual they were given a promise that the remaining 2/3 shall be settled before end of December.
Secondlly, yesterday’s match about 5,621 people attended yielding a relatively descent sum of just about 1.8 Million. I expect this shall be used to offset some of the cost of the return trip to Nigeria.
Lastly, should we qualify for CAF champions league group stages ( very likely as i see us scoring more goals in Nigeria ) the 2/3 balance shall hopefully be fully settled and remaining monies from CAF shall be chanelled into the group stages. My fear is that allowances for some people ( we know them) will increase overnight from next week ! watch this space…………
@ Nyakwar Oganjo Rahiti, Nigerians are like our dustant brothers from Luo Nyanza. remember Names Like Okoye (Luo Okoye), Okachi (Luo- Okach), Agali (Luo Ogali), Okocha (Luo okochi) ojukwu (Luo Ojuku) Amadi (Luo Amadi) and several others are very similar. There is also Kano in Nigeria and Kano in luo nyanza. Lets spread some brotherly love in Nigeria in the return match.
am no oga,am a proud kenyan luopean and mayienga is my team. no lobing for a win in naija on friday.bathing be warned…….kenyans you get my drift.
Come to think of it. A 2-0 win for Lobi at their home ground is not an impossibility. Then they win it on the away goal rule. We are not thaat safe yet. Shit happens in football. And am scared. If I were Oktay, this is a game I would throw beautiful football away and pack the bus….or the train if need be Mourinho style…or Zico’s style as Jakoyo would put it.
Go go go for it our boys.
As said let’s stop the negative energy from reaching the team through our comments here. Let God not punish us for not being humble when given a chance to show humility.
The truth is that we still have challenges but how we handle them at this point will determine a lot.
Currently I am sure the biggest headache is not even paying the tam their dues but travelling to Naija in one convoy without the local as well as the Lagos/Benin/Enugu distractions.
I can assure all of us that the treatment our team will get there the faint-hearted one will not pull through.
I hope the Kahata-effect of Calabar years ago rubs on them.
One of our weaknesses is that now more EC members than players will want to ride on the success and go to Naija at the expense of the players
We thank God for the sweet win. My God bless the whole team with Better mgmt. Success as they go to Naija n prayers too.
1.Gor Mahia executive should pay players promptly without fail.
2. Gor Mahia to make their own arrangements in collaboration with the Kenyan embassy to take care of any possible frustrations from Lobi Stars in Nigeria.
3. Gor Mahia players, officials and technical bench should go to Nigeria and fight as if they never won in Nairobi.
NB: Lasy year after with thought we had qualified for CAF confederations semi finals, Rayon Sports of Rwanda came to Nairobi and humiliated us. Let Gor Mahia not be complacent, fight for the rntire 90 minutes.
Last year after we thought…..
entire 90 minutes
My emminent friend, Musymo, I am not holding brief for any dog: I am not the dogs’ advocate, especially Nigerian dogs. What I am saying is that that statement can be misconstrued to be tantamount to incitement to violence and soon we could see hired goons roaming the neighbourhoods ready to assault and mete mayhem on those unsuspecting canines.
JUST BREAKING F……GOR MAHIA TO ADD DENNIS OLIECH, PAUL WERE AND DAVID CHECHE OCHIENG TO ITS RANKS NEXT WEEK, SHOULD THEY QUALIFY FOR CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGES !!!
Unless we hear from Jasego. You are a JamriAmbo. Riambo kaa otit
Where are they going to get the money to pay them if they cant pay the current squad in time. Still that would be a game changer if we were to sign and pay miraculously
True, as Cale Cale puts it a 2- 0 win for Lobi stars in Nigeria is a possibility.
Bloggers..I am of the view that we can’t defend for 90+ minutes even if we wished and prayed endlessly and ceaselessly we will still crack at the end. Infact we lack the tactical and technical acumen to maintain a defensive shape for that long. If normally in a high tempo match our central midfield cannot hold a simple diamond formation do you expect us to pull a “Cattennacio” performance which is gridlock football with defenders who show calmness and poise repelling wave after wave of unrelenting attacks from the opponent like Atletico Madrid does? To do that we would require centre backs who technically resemble Diego Godin…Jose Gimenez or better still Joao Miranda of Inter Milan. Joash Onyango will hack all and sundry when the going gets tough not forgetting Ernest Wendo will be most likely sent off for wild and late untimed tackles under pressure. Best bet is playing Joga Bonito possession football marked by patience in order to starve Lobi of Possession and since urgency is on them to score they will resort to panick football of high press and long balls. If we do that first half and maintain status quo then second half we can up the tempo and play high intensity attacking football and win the game at their very homeground thereby making Africa take note of who we are. Pray hard for us and avoid women unless you are married for God walks with the pure in heart and spirit…We will fight for you…Am travelling to Enugu to see this through
I never saw anything in the Lobi Stars team that should worry me going going into the second leg , a lot has been written about how Lobi had more possession in the second half , yes they did but it was a non threatening possession that should not worry anybody .
What is encouraging to we Kogalo fans is time , seems that the more time we have with Oktal , the better we seem to get , technically and tactically , players whose personal progress seemed to have stalled seemed to have had a new lease of life under Oktal e.g Samuel Onyango .
Lastly, why do we always go to great lengths looking for reasons to worry us , e.g that it is possible for Gor to lose 2-0, ofcourse it is a possibility , just like there is also a possibility of Afc leopards defeating Manchester utd , a 0.00something% possibility but still a possibility, right , so if you are looking for a reason to worry , you will never fail to get one .
We only need to take the game to them , take our chances and do to them there , what we did to them here .
As to the mistreatment that might be metted to as by the Nigerians when we land there , I see no worry on this , bcoz there is no greater frustration you can put on these boys greater the frustrations they have survived and thrived from our very own EC .
The problem here in gm is that,, we officials we dont trust our own squard, imargne that we are going for a war well equeipt and still u dont trust ua selves can u win? we need to trust and believe in our players is when we can deliver gud result.
