What really happened with Frank Nuttall?

A notable absence from the Gor Mahia technical bench this past Saturday was coach Frank Nuttall.  There are reports that Frank Nuttall did not go to Scotland to address family issues as earlier indicated by club officials.

An official told goal.com that Nuttall stayed away to protest non-payment of his salary

“The coach stayed away because he is not happy with the way things are happening in the club. He has gone for three months without pay and he feels he cannot continue to work under such conditions. I don’t know how long he will stay away or whether he will return for the next league match. Lets not lie to one another…Nuttall is still around (in Kenya) and never travelled to Scotland.” said an official to goal.com

Nuttall though missing from the bench did not actually go to Scotland. There is no valid reason why he would miss a match while staying within the country.

Chairman Ambrose Rachier has in the past been honest about the club’s precarious financial situation. Perhaps he should come forward and level with the fans and tell fans the plain truth regarding outstanding salaries.

Other members of the technical bench are also owed large sums. In fact coach Nuttall himself has said in past interviews that his technical staff are never paid on time. They have however continued to show plenty of enthusiasm and commitment on the sidelines, such that you would not know they are not being paid on time. .

Please admin, don’t copy paste things from other sites for the sake of writing. Do your research well and get the facts right. Which Nattall are you talking about?
Were we not in city stadium last Wednesday when he left before the match ended?

We should stop being in denial. Why would coach refuse to sit on the bench? Clearly he is unhappy about something. If we are not careful we will lose players to teams like Mathare. And at this rate there is no chance Nuttalll will stay. Simba or Yanga will take him.
Rather than be in denial, the Chairman should tell fans the truth and chart the way forward for better financial stability.

Until the two parties come out to tell us the truth we can treat the same as rumors. We have a very big match ahead that we cannot afford to have a disorganized team. Everyone should know that it’s this match that has bought Loga back to Ingwe as Derby’s bring out the best in coaches. So missing out on a derby is a big MISS for the coach. As for the league and other matches the Ounas and Bobbys can still manage to get wins and get the title.
Anyway I hope the issue will be sorted out if that is the issue. The EC has tried as much as they can and we cannot fault them on that but I believe as a family we can do better if everyone played their bit, especially on financial .
Was disappointed the way the gate collection was handled during the CS match. Did we literally have to fight to pay our way in? Am sure in the process we lost a lot of revenue

  • I think the borne of contention here is the Kshs 5 million received from the recent trip to tanzania ( 2 million harambee, 1 million from Raila and another 2 million prize money ) …..How was this money split between the players, technical bench and the EC . Thats is what is paining the players and the technical bench.

Lets not try and hide the facts.

I wish you people could get facts instead of spreading half truths. The same goal.com that blew the players boycot out of proportion is at it again. Gor is the defending champions are currently riding, any slight issue will be blown out of proportion. We are a critical moment and everybody should be focussed. We have a game on Wednesday then the Derby is on Sunday, so let is leave sideshows aside. Yes, there are issues of non payment of salaries on time to both the technical bench and players and Chairman Ambrose Rachier has responded, the issue is being addressed. I appeal for calm please.

Gor and AFC are in KPL lately sponsored by SportPesa. How does the league organizer see the trouble in these clubs. Why do they negotiate deals that cannot meet the basic needs of clubs playing in their leagues? I wonder.

Would this league remain the same if we don not have AFC and Gor. They must appreciate that their future depends on some of these clubs or their sponsors will go and never come back.

@Omondi, what if Gor and AFC did what Barca and R. Madrid were doing some times back. Getting over 70% of the broadcast money since they pulled over most of the fans. Would be a good idea?

  • Being a gor fan is hard ; I have enrolled as a Sacco member, contributes via the playbill ,sends my family to attend home matches as i am away
This club ,what is happening ?running the club ( with these bunch of clues less officials is becoming difficult )
Must gor take Away upto 50% of a fan’ s income ???? Dissolve the club then

  • I totaly agreed with Omos, how do you sponsor Teams that are not benefiting from the sponsorship money? and it happened that the Chairman of the KPL, must come from one of the Clubs participating in the KPL Leaques. Like now the Chairman is from Gor Mahia which is struggling to pay Players and TB, and it’s already clear that even Gor becomes Champion the Club will get nothing from being Champion because Sportpesa came in, in the middle of the seasons. You starts from where the agreement is signed. they must spare some Amount for K’Ogalo as Champion 2015? otherwise we will Curse them.

Well said gentlemen. I think we let the leage end then we can ask the office these hard questions. GOR and AFC have failed year in year to benefit from the deals that KPL has siigned with various leage sponsors. It is a fact that KPL is nothing without GOR and AFC, what is happening at FKF can attest to this. Nakuru Allstars have shifted their game to Nairobi because they want the money from gate collections, I do not think they want the three points, Muhoroni Youth did the same I think in 2013 if not last season. If these small clubs know they squeeze money from the brand name GOR MAHIA, why can’t our chair who sits in the KPL board exploit the same brand GOR MAHIA and negotiate a good deal for the club? We will need answers at the end of the season.

@Apida, well said. Let’s wait and ask the questions at the end of the season. Likewise let’s also not shy from being asked questions as fans. Like why do we cause mayhem at the club’s detriment, Why have we not registered en-masse for the SACCO, why sall number registered as club members, why not enough bread bought to help the team. All parties should be free to ask each other the HARD questions. At the same time we should also appreciate what each has done. The EC has brought us this far and so are the fans

For the football to grow in this country, only community clubs should be ones to have the title money. They contribute a lot to the league. For instance, KCB vs ushuru, what value do they add in the competition? For the coach, let’s not spread roomers. Focus on the remaining matches, especially efusi game. Blessed
