The Tusker Premier League resumes this week after a week’s break that saw the teams take part in the GoTv Community Shield.
K’Ogalo reasserted their desire to clinch a double this season with their 2-0 victory over Thika United in the GoTv Community Shield on Sunday, and will seek to widen their three-point lead in their upcoming tie against Chemelil Sugar at the City Stadium this weekend.
Speaking to Daily Nation Sport yesterday, Gor coach Bobby Williamson remained upbeat Gor can end their 18-year title drought.
“It is a fact that the league race is very tight. There are stronger teams competing for it (title) and we have to give our best.
We have a strong squad that can can finish the job. What is required of us is to maintain focus and work on our weak points,” Williamson said.
And even as the stand-off between Football Kenya Federation and the Kenyan Premier League over the abandoned match between Sony Sugar persists, Gor remain perched atop the league table with 41 points, three points ahead of second placed Sofapaka.
Wake Up call
Earlier on Gor Mahia captain Jerim Onyango says their 1-0 defeat to Tusker was a wake-up call to the team.
Onyango has also termed it the last defeat for K’Ogalo, who are chasing their first league title in more than 15 years.
“That was our third loss since the season started and it was a wake-up call to the whole team. We cannot afford another defeat and we therefore, have to work extremely hard in order to win the title,” Onyango told Goal on Friday. Onyango further said they are determined to win a double this season
This man Jerry has faith. I know you and and your whole team will make it. Just stay focused and keep the faith. Am sure other teams like sofapaka will also lose at some point plus we have a match with them. We must beat them and any other team and clinch the title. Good luck Kogalo.
It is now the time for the whole Kogalo family especialy fans to keep calm at this time. Let us avoid premature celebrations. Let us pray for a win in all the remaining matches.
