Ze Maria commends Youth Brigade

This weekend, Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira aka Ze Maria was dissapointed to watch his former team Brazil get eliminated from the Copa America after a 0-1 loss to lowly Peru. However his spirits were immediately lifted when Gor Mahia comprehensively outplayed league leading Tusker to emerge with a comfortable 2-0 lead from the first leg.

The young players on the team were particularly impressive. New signing Baron Oketch has barely settled in the team but played a stellar game , giving experienced full back Eugene Asike a torrid time. Amos Nondi, a product of the Gor Mahia U19 side is took a strong first step towards making a case for inclusion in the starting line-up.

Eric Ouma “Marcelo” had yet another stellar game to follow up from his impressive performances in the first leg and with the national team.

“We had many youthful players in the match today, five or six so we have a young team which is great and they showed it. The players had injuries thus providing opportunity to promote others so that’s good for us,” said coach Ze Maria to supersport.

One player that Gor Mahia fans are eager to see in action is Thiago Lima Da Silva, the Brazilian import. His first appearance in the Kogalo jersey was inauspicious. But Jacque Tuyisenge is optimistic that he can form an effective strike partnership with the Brazilian import.

“I just returned to training recently and I have only had few sessions with him. I cannot judge him because I have not watched him in a competitive match but I think he is a good striker going by what I have seen in training.

“We have not really played together in training but I know there are some friendly matches lined up for us and we will get that chance to play together. When we play together then I will know if we can form a good combination in matches,” Tuyisenge told Soka.

However many fans are unconvinced and are wondering why the club did not bring back Kagere who has a proven scoring record.

  • It is a good thing that he believes in the youth especially those who come from our own Youth set up. Nondi is already showing that our U-19 is not a project in vain. There is another Kahata in that team called Waruinge. Could he be allowed to train with the senior team in readiness for next season? or maybe loaned out to another KPL team to get Premier League experience. The more reason the club needs to invest more in the junior team.

    • Relax Okewkanango, this Kamau wa Njoroge not bad person infact is seasoned blogger but quiet quiet type. Admin kindly resolve this matter. Infact it was a matter that bloggers had handled amicably before you uncharacterically jumped in. @BB and O.T i concur huyu Ze Maria ni mambo “biad” hence my statement “AMENINYAMAZISHA” #betin&betways&mcheza please sponsor KAGAME CECAFA CUP. Musonye surely how long will it take you change this tournament to be played on home/away basis with the finals in one of the capitals.

  • @Musymo, waruinge is among the four players that have been training with the main team. This is the best way forward for future posterity of the team. We have a great future in Ze Maria.

  • Someone said that there is no local player to replace Aucho I case he leaves, yet KAHATA is much better putting in mind that the coach has plan of developing raw talents rather than sticking to already made

    • Correction : in case he leaves

    • @Charles, Kahata is more than capable in filling Aucho’s shoes but they are very different in their style of play. Aucho is a box to box midfielder with very good defensive abilities and right now there is no player locally with abilities exactly like his. Kahata is a creative genius who thrives around the opponent’s box. In an open passing game like Tusker’s Kahata can produce magic. But in physical game like Ulinzi Aucho fares much better. Gor has for the last three or four seasons relied on two defensive minded midfielders playing in front of the back four i.e Akumu/Gatusso. Gatusso/Eric/Kizito, Gatusso/Aucho/Wendo and if Aucho was to leave to be replaced by Kahata , that will call for a change of philosophy and/or formation which Ze Maria showed he can oversee going by Sunday’s game. It is the result that matters and not who plays.

From the display Gor Mahia gave against Brewkenge I am convinced that coach Ze Maria knows exactly what good football is. He knows exactly what he means when he utters the four words “I am a Brazilian”. That being the case, his choice of players to recruit and personnel to beef up the TB must be aimed at improving Gor Mahia’s game and surpassing all existing achievements.

    • I understand that tusker are asking to be awarded the match because Kogalo fielded an ineligible player, Baron Oketch. Ja Asego kindly update us on this

      Reply
      • Oguda has already clarified that Baron’s documents were procedurally lodged with KPL making Baron very eligible to play for Gor Mahia. Once he was registered at KPL by Stima that makes he is free to play in KPL tournaments unless they change the rules. This Tusker is becoming a nuisance increasingly relying on boardroom decisions after being thoroughly outplayed on the pitch. Right now that ugly man has already said they will beat Gor and proceed after the second leg. I cant imagine what excuse they will use this time when they finally lose. Football is not a place for pu**ies!!!!

        • Thanks @musymo for the update. Tusker is becoming a bit petty. They should concentrate on winning games in the pitch, not through boardrooms.

@musymo and he is really ugly in mind ,thought and actions not forgetting the looks. He fluked at MUHORONI after ODIJO had done the donkey work. Now let FKF stay with the 3 points and we will still reclaim top spot. I UNDERSTAND MIENO HAS MADE IT CKEAR THAT HE WILL NOT BE WITH HIM. HIS FUTURE IS K’OGALO IRRESPECTIVE OF THE HURDLES AHEAD OF HIM.

I happen to be one of those unfortunate people who cant watch my beloved team in the stadium live every weekend, Marsabit ni mbali sana. I watch every televised match on GOTv all replays and analysis such as Off the press. I am concerned with the stadium attendance, particularly Nairobi matches. Why are the numbers dwindling? You guys may be able to inform me better, why are fans not coming as it used to be. Talking of fans, I haven’t seen much of Jaro Soldier. Jonarobi what is happening?

    Reply
  • i respect people but when there is an error in reasoning, i deeply wonder where is our logic and respect? this time, for it to be a lesson once and for all, Gor should appeal for wrongfully being accused and demand for compensation from tusker

@moses – I also saw the GOMA LOTTO information on soka25east – I believe it is Thiago sporting the jersey. It is a great idea, and I hope it takes-off so as to help the Youth team.
Wasn’t there another Power Drink sponsor that was going to dual-sponsor both Gor and AFC with a bus for each club ??
