Ze Maria happy with team progress

New Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira has been working with the team for two weeks now and he is satisfied with the progress the team is making towards implementing his new philosophy.

“The players have shown hunger and I am happy with the group that I have. I think they are good players who can help us move forward. We pass the ball better and keep possession.” said the coach to Capital FM

As luck would have it, the coach arrived in Kenya and had two weeks to install his playing style before any league fixture. He has overseen three friendly matches so far, all at Camp Toyoyo. But that stadium has a new artificial surface that is unlike many other local stadia.  However Ze Maria is promising vast improvements when Gor Mahia resumes league play this coming weekend against Kakamega Homeboyz at Mumias Complex.

“There are few areas we will improve but I believe we will be a different outfit when the league resumes,” he continued.

After playing two matches, against lower tier teams, Gor Mahia played Posta Rangers and won 1-0. Edmond Murai, who came on as a substitute, scored the goal.

“We needed a tough friendly before the league resume to gauge our fitness. It was impressive to see the players give a good fight despite it being a build-up match,” continued the coach.

It will be Gor Mahia’s first league fixture with a revamped technical bench.

I am glad he likes his new job. If he is passionate about his new job, it will be reflected in the results

There will be surprises when Achi Maria’s first eleven files.Quite a few who were regulars during Nuttal’s era could be overlooked.Only players with vision, good readers of the game and good passers of the ball will make it .Good luck Kogalo.

  • collins stop this kind of rational decisions Timothy cannot survive in Gor anymore n dont think playing in Gor is an easy task to any player like talking depending on the current.

Yes I support Jakorando,Timothy was a failure at Gor given numerous chances under bobby Williamson including in Cecafa 2014.Started out as a very bright prospect but faded away with the pressure becoming a satisfied bench warmer, not him alone even Herbert Kopany suffered the same fate, always impressive in training but hopeless in match situations.Posta Rangers suits timothy’s personality because of no pressure plus feeling of being relied upon so he can thrive there but in Gor he will go back to his mediocrity in perfomance in record time.We just need world class players in Gor now not past failures and experiments…

This year’s league is going be harder than last year’s. Most, if not all teams, are prepared. The winning team will not gather more than 63 points. More the reason we will need to be patient with our team as results will not just start trickling as soon as we resume. Just like the other teams we will struggle before we get our footing
