Ze Maria: Nzoia were tough

True to their character when playing against Gor Mahia, Nzoia United proved a tough nut to crack. It was a difficult encounter against a wily Nzoia side that was gunning for an upset.

“It was not easy against Nzoia Sugar. It was a very tough match because they (Nzoia) played a very good and tactical game. We needed to change our tactics so as to contain them and I am very impressed because my players put up a very spirited performance.” said Ze Maria to goal.com

Ze Maria is happy that Gor Mahia had the resilience to hold onto their lead after they scored an early goal and fought tooth and nail to maintain their lead.

“Remember we had to protect a slim lead because Nzoia looked like they could hit back and level matters. My players responded well to keep the lead to the end. It was a good game from my players that takes us to the top of the table. They (players) deserve to be thanked because they managed to maintain the pressure from fans and also media.” he continued.

Scorer Meddie Kagere is now third in the goal-scorers chart with four goals, two behind the leader: Stephen Waruru of Ulinzi Stars.

Gor Mahia take on Thika United at Nyayo stadium on Sunday in their next match.

  • Good to know GM has adapted to approaching a game at a time and changing tactics as per prevailing on-pitch situations. That will especially be required moving forward and facing teams that approach the games against us with a counter-tiki taka philosophy.Read the game in the first half, change tactics, adapt, break them down and protect the lead if we can’t totally overrun them.It is what champions elect do and Tusker perfected that art last year to take away our crown.Otherwise goodluck on Sunday and what a joy we converge at Fortress Nyayo again in the city to annihilate Nicholas Muyoti

Laughable!!!! Thiis guy does not even waste time reading this blog. Any good coach does not. He does not even know that there is a blog called GorMahia.Net

      • Excuse me Mr zemaria’s personal assistant! I thought I read about zemaria asking Tuyisenge to stop reading comments on social media. And how about the times that Zemaria has admitted to being under pressure from the fans. Did he interview individual fans or he had the Holly spirit. You have nowadays turned into a self imposed prefect.

Nicholas Muyoti should know that we are aware that he was behind Marcelo’s refusal to sign amore than 6 months contract. We can decide to make him regret that through Thika United.

  • @wuod suba l support your sentiment. Fans contribution sometimes helps the coach in team selection for fear of a backlash in case of mediocre performance.Even university professors listen to other ideas during lectures.

Where does fans or bloggers postings help the coach? Really laughable and this is really one of the wonders of the world.

  • Surely if somebody wishes to amuse himself that he has participated in influencing how the coach trains the team , laughable and unserious as the reasoning is , y spoil his/her fun , dont everybody have the right to air their views no matter what shallowness informs their views , Gor afterall is a mass movement that incorporates all and sundry ,
