Ze Maria thanks players

Gor Mahia’s Brazilian coach Ze Maria has credited his players with a positive display that enabled him to bag the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) coach of the month award for August.

“The players did their best last month, they played their hearts out and the hunger was felt by all those associated with us. It was unfortunate that we could not defend the title but we are happy with the input. The fans also, they have been supportive and I thank them,” Ze Maria said to goal.com

Gor Mahia will take on Tusker on Saturday in the final match of the season. Though out of contention for the title, Ze Maria has vowed to ensure that the team ends the season on a high to build for next season.

“We are aiming to finish the season on a high, by winning our remaining match and finishing with as many points as possible.” he said.

Sawa Coach. We need to win that match even if only for braggig rights. And let peace prevail. For those who cannot stomach Tusker lifting the Cup this year there is ManU and Arsenal to watch at the same time

VERY UNFORTUNATE. THE COACH IS AWARDED WHEN THE PLAYERS WORK HARD AND THE PLAYERS GO HOME WITH NOTHING AT THE END OFTHE SEASON BECAUSE THE COACH HAD ISSUES WITH ONE OR TWO OF THEM, DID NOT INSPIRE THE PALYERS ALL THROUGH

@Omondi, so who should have been rewarded? There is no team of the month award. The moment we stop getting stuck from the past the better. Let’s use the past t make/build/prepare a better tomorrow

    • The award went to the famous Noah Abich. I think the players should strive to be rewarded since they are not playing for the coach. Moreover, the selection panel does not care about their infighting. I think it is all about their display while in the pitch. Anyway I think Maria Mama deserved the win. I think that at one point in the season, the likes of Tuyisenge were very likely candidates to win such award had his striking prowess not taken a nosedive.

Give our many reserve goalkeepers, defenders , midfielders, passenger 57 and others a chance to play 90 minutes.

Position 2 is cemented my gut feeling is that tusker will also field a weaker team.

Bragging rights for a dead rubber game like this one is inconsequential especially since its the last game of the season. We shot ourselves in the foot,so…..lets give Tusker their guard of honour, give them a good game and let them enjoy their celebrations as champions…afterall they proved to be the most consistent team this season!!!

@ja asego, ua close to ze Maria so you say, tell us what is the role of that brazillian ass.coach apart from kupanga cones, why can’t he be seconded to the youth team if he has the same ideas as the coach.Tom is more active as an ass.coach even during match days than this fela. Ama its a case of kutafutiana kazi like players signed in mid season.bytheway that tuck in player frm muhoroni was a gud signing, u can see his workrate and desire during training & even the few games he’s played .My appeal to EC give a treat to GM faithful fans of kisumu by allowing fans to watch the game tomorrow free. Ama flat rate 100 bob

Hahaha..’tuck in player…’ That was a hilarious yet perfect description for Wellington. He has always preferred that style since long time….and he likes it at high waist. True again he always plays with fanatical zeal. One of these days he may just break somebody’s leg or his own. Gor should keep him, not for his leg breaking potential but for his commitment to the cause

@Levelmind fan…Yes i am close to Ze Maria and also the Assistant Coach Marco Aurelio is his name. The Role of Marco Aurelio is Central Defense Specialist Trainer, he is the sole reason you see the centre backs having more confidence on & off the ball nowadays. He played that position himself back in his hey days and thereby specializes-concentrates on ensuring they possess the instincts and reflex of attacking the ball at the right moment in both set pieces and open play (Don’t mind or cite Shakava’s back-pass that was intercepted by a muhoroni youth player during Top 8 finals,as that can happen to any player on a bad day) but rather look at how comfortable both he and Musa are nowadays in controlling the ball and having poise while starting build-up play from deep in our own half. He is a master in that bro Levelmind

I don’t even know where to start. Can we sign good players?.Since the league is over can we discuss who really fits in Gor.My Long Question is;Is Tuyisenge good enough? Is he? Is he the best we can afford?

Meanwhile players were on a go-slow since with the pending elections they are not sure of the future. And there is where we might miss out on the best affordable players

They should have secured their futures by winning a title especially the league/GoTv but they, the players, decided to be used to sabotage coaches e.g FN,maybe even Ze Maria. What they do now is inconsquential they should just line up for brewkenge and clap,as instructed by the Ngala’s,for the team our EC decided to give the 2016 league.BTW NO POINTS HAVE BEEN DEDUCTED FROM ANY TEAM IN THE ROMANIA AND POLAND GAME WHICH WAS STOPPED TWICE INCLUDING ONCE FOR AN EXPLOSIVE/FLARE BEING THROWN ON THE FEILD.Too bad if a player’s godfather is not re-elected. Can’t wait for the day of the policy that players and TB will be recruited and retained strictly on merit and performance.

And the players are on a go slow because of non payment of winning bonuses and uncertainity over their November salaries. 3 TERMS(8 YEARS) IN FOOTBALL ADMINISTRATION AND AR,KILO,NGALA & OROWE STILL CAN’T IT RIGHT WITH/WITHOUT SPONSORSHIP. MARA PLAYERS SIGNED & PAID BUT DON’T PLAY, MARA CAF LIST IS LATE, MARA CAF LICENSING DEADLINE NOT MET, MARA COACHES SQUABLING, MARA COACHES & PLAYERS SQUABLING, MARA EC AGREES ATI TO BE SECURITY IN AN AWAY GAME.THOO KWANI HAKUNA ADMINSTRATIVE STRUCTURES GM AFTER ALL THIS TIME IN OFFICE NA WANATAKA RE-ELECTION NKT

I will not go to stadia to watch Gor Mahia giving Tusker guard of honour. I will instead watch Manu and Arsenal game as well as many premier league matches.

@Jamigori, should we only support the team when it’s winning? Didn’t we also get a guard of honour for the last three years. At least one title was won on the last day. Personally I will watch Gor (nothing beats a live Gor game where we can shout, curse, yell, celebrate and mourn in equal measure) and watch a replay of the ManU game.

Late mediation sees striking Gor Mahia players go to camp
    By Dan Ngulu | Fri 18 Nov, 2016 19:34
Ahead of the final day of the 2016 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season, it took late mediation to see Gor Mahia players head to camp ahead of the team’s game against new champions Tusker FC at the Nyayo National stadium on Saturday 19 November.

The team was scheduled to train at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday 18 November starting 10am EAT but players downed their tools seeking clearance of pending match and training bonuses as well as a prepayment of their November salaries.

    Magnitude of the issue

A section of players who spoke to Soka on condition of anonymity as well as a junior official who asked not to be quoted due to the magnitude of the issue, said the club owes the playing unit bonuses amounting to three wins while the prepayment condition stems from the fear that after the season no one will be in the office to cater for their pay.

“We declined to train because as informed by history, we do not know what will happen after the final match of the season. We are not even sure we will get the club management in the offices so we want these payments made,” a senior player confided in Soka.

    Club reaction

The case of owed bonuses was corroborated by the club’s Organizing Secretary David Kiilo, who further stated that an amicable solution has been reached with the players and they headed to camp later in the evening.

“There have been a few problems which are normal in any organization but we have sorted everything. The situation has been arrested and there is no cause for alarm. They have been paid and have gone to camp they will play tomorrow,” he said.

    Confidence

Despite having failed to train on Friday, Kiilo remained confident that the players will be in the right state of mind going to the match and he is backing the team to beat Tusker.

“Money moves mountains; once someone has money in the pocket you forget about those issues. This is a serious match and we will be going for a win to show everyone who the real champions are,” he added.

A follow up by Soka found out that the players went to camp at 7pm EAT.

Clueless coach. FN should be back. He was sabotaged by the EC led by Ambrose Rachier, some players like Bonface Oluoch, useless fans but he won the league unbeaten.

I agree, it’s time to seriously think and plan for next year’s league. Inmy honest opinion kogallo plaid far much better football BUT again in football what matters is winning irrespective of the quality. I’m looking forward for proper ppreparation for 2017 league. Congratulations for kogallo family
