Contradictory messages from the club

Gor Mahia coach Zradvko Logarusic says Brazilian striker Giovanni Rodriguez needs more time to fit into the club just a day after he was handed a two-year contract.

While giving an assessment of the player, Logarusic said: “Any player from Brazil needs to show straight away that he has what it takes to fit in a club like ours.

“With him, I haven’t seen it. He looks out of shape and appears not to have played football for a long time. But may be then he needs a lot more time for me to see what he can do,” said Logarusic.

Logarusic said the team has the best attacking force in the country comprising Paul Kion gera, Rama Salim and Dan Sserunkuma.

“If Rodriguez can show me that he can play better than Sserenkuma or Kiongera then we can talk. He should understand that the standards are much higher for him considering that he is an outsider. We expect results from him immediately,” he said.

However , Gor Mahia Secretary General, George Bwana, confirmed they have given the player a two-year contract in a deal that will make him the highest paid in the local league.

Which begs the question , if Logarusic thinks Giovani has not proven himself, then why has the club already offered him a 2 year contract and made him the best paid player in the league ?

If he does not become a productive player, then the club could find itself paying a bench warmer for the next two seasons or risk FIFA sanctions. It is also inexplicable why a professional player would show up in such a bad shape. Even more baffling is why said player would be given a 2 year contract before he even participated in training.

I thought EC said the coach has vitto powers before signing new players.

All along we have been made to believe that the coach was briefed on the new recruitment before a decision to sign them was reached. Now we are being treated to this circus of North-South Pole. Who is fooling who here.Loga you created this opportunity hence you must be held responsible for this mess. When the team needed you most you abandoned it for your selfish interest. The transfer window is coming to the end the best players have been taken by other teams. You will have to do with what you have. You have been given what you bargained for what we want is RESULTS nothing less otherwise you ought to have stayed to foresee the recruitment process. Remember he is the best paid in the TPL hence we expect the best from him period

Confusion….confusions and for heaven shake, why do you sign a player that has not be vetoed by the coach?

There is a big problem with this our executive committee. Have they become technical experts in assessing the player’s credentials before being signed?

We need answers but not excuses?

  • Mwakio

@Ochiga, you should not blame Loga in this matter. Both Loga and Giovanni arrived on Sunday but signing was done on Monday the following day without the coach’s recommendations. Why should the coach be blamed?

His coming back late from holiday should not be seen as the excuse. Club officials owe fans an explanation on this matter. We cannot condone this bad behaviour on this fiasco.

I disagree with you my Brother Mwakio, for heaven sake the coach was surpose to be here to do the recrutment all the coaches were busy looking for the best players in the market yet our coach was still giving mixed signal wether he was coming back or not,i think we av given this coach alot of freedom until he feels he is the EC,its high time for him to know that he is an employee not the other way,how could this person go on leave for all that time and he knew he needs to do some recrutement? the he come and start his usual drumer,am not happy

This fiasco is unacceptable more so at the start of the season. The club performed so well last season but people should not be carried away and loose focus. Just because he comes from Brazil does not make him a cut above the rest. I am a kenyan but doesnt make me a ‘marathoner’. Simply put this fellar has not played for sometime. Let the coach make the final decision.

I disagree and repeat coach Logarusic raised the issue of his contract in November last year but the “executive community” dilly dallied until the new year.
Why dilly dally on Logarusic’s contract and hurry to sign the Samba lad who was rushed from airport to the office to sign the contract.

Its not the first time Bwana and the EC have done this.Remember the Niga soap star-F Nwosu.

This guy is clearly unfit and kupepeta ball is not upto to Brazilian standards. We don’t know even how many goals he scored in Bangladesh 4 his last club.
The person engaging him must have hoped Logarusic would not be back.

The officials concerned should be surged the airfare and take personal responsibility for his so called contract.

The back still stop with the coach where was he when all this were hapening, why did we av to tell Olando to wait for the coach aproval just to rush and sign somebody who came for a holiday?

Koro magi to kendo ang’o yawa? Must we always learn through mistakes. But then how unteachable are we that we have to repeat the same mistake over and over. That guy obviously has a long way to go. There is alot of truth coming from those on either side of the divide (read @Ochigah in Post 3 and @Erico Jarae on one hand and @Mwakio and @Oduor12 in posts 5 and 8 respectively on the other hand). It is so embarassing, however, it is not too late. Coach Logarusic can still crack the whip.

The only innocent person in this is the Brazilian himself. He has done nothing wrong. It is not a crime to dream of playing for a glamour club like K’Ogalo even if you are, to say the least, bankrupt of talent and fitness. His only mistake is to be unfit when he claims to be a professional. I suggest that we don’t bad-mouth and talk him down. Let him be tried and if he fails the test we peacefully say bye to him and concentrate on serious business. Making deragatory and unsavoury remarks about him will just raise emotions but end up serving no purpose.

When all is sad and done it still ends up that this must have been a project of someone in the EC. Now EC please respond; be sensitive to the sentiments of bloggers and the entire fanbase of Gor Mahia. That office is bloated and keeps on making school boy mistakes. Why? When will those of you with amorphous roles under ambiguous titles just quit honourably?

I suport Ochiga@3 and say the couch should bear the burden of any mistake arising from recruitments to immature preparation of the team for cotinental and local matches. He had all the time to join the rest to make effective changes but chose to enjoy himself else where.Recently he said that to him big or small money means nothing to him then why did he keep complaining to the extent that when he left his commitment and return to Gor was clearly in doubt.I still mourn the abscence of OLando and BB in the current Gor squad.

  • Well said @Barefoot Bandit. It’s this same Blog that someone said we don’t need a certain new player yet Loga looks satisfied with him. Don’t know in what capacity we say some things. Let’s learn to say ‘I’ instead of we.
We all know that the EC is bloated and full of busy bodies. But as far as I know ‘we’ are the ones who voted them in. They say we get the leaders we deserve.
All the same I hope Giovanni has the class as we know class is permanent but form can deep. I like the way Loga says it in black and white, that Bobby is fitter than Giovani!! All in all I know we are in a good space to do better but if only we could get Olando to assist Akumu but as a fan i can only wish and/or recommend but the EC and tech bench has the final say

It is unfortunate that the final CAF list of 26 is out and Crispin Olando is not included. Crispin Olando please! Oh Alphie! Wherever you are can you see how many in this blog are yearning to see you don the green and white! Why don’t you just appear before Coach Logarusic as he has demanded so that he clears his doubts about your fitness? Please Alphie! As for capability and talent: everyone knows what you can do on the pitch with the ball. @Dan, my complements, thanks.

We were made to believe that before the coach left for holiday he left behind a list of players he wanted recruited. The big question here is was the brazilian one of them?
Secondly, let us not mourn too much about Olando and Blackberry…in my opinion, both are not the players they used to be and i believe the current crop of players we have will do the job for us,as they did last season!let us not change a winning team wholesale,be careful what you wish for!!!

Contracts can be cancelled by mutual consent, lets not be too pessimistic. If the guy is not up to standards, he’ll see it himself. For now, lets give him a chance as Loga says.

  • I have a feeling that the Samba boy is good. Our good old Loga is such a bully. He also loves attention. What he is saying about the player may not add up to the action of including him on the list because Loga wants to first put him in his place. Down there with everyone else. He first spoke funnily about Rodrigo (remember Wild Rose or was it rich also cry) when he saw Jaro and his troupe celebrating him.

I will give him the benefit of doubt if the clips that were posted here earlier were his. The movement was superb. He will definitely regain fitness but he should try to avoid being a celebrity. We can only have one in Gor at the moment. He should drop the bling, get football boots and only talk with his mouth shut.

I am surprised at some of your contributions on this site. Coach has familiy in Croatia, whats wrong if he spent about one month seeing his wife and children? Please lets not be emotional about some issues.

Secondly what is this early judgement we are passing on Rodriguez; has anything happened which is against our expectations, I only know that he arrived while a little overweight? Lets give the guy time to settle and we see. I have seen the short video clip of him playing and seems to me he may just be the right guy, but of course together with our other signings which I believe are some of the best.

We missed out on Blackberry and Olando but thats it, we move on, we have players to do the job for us.In any case there is still the June transfer window, why then all this moarning?

LOL!!! Ooh Laa la!!!! I LIKE THIS CIRCUS. “JO-NYIEGO”

The EC has done nothing wrong in searching for the best talent all the way from Brazil. Next time we shall have one from Spain, crotia, china, taiwan,uk etc.

All of you seems to believe that the best talents always move to other direction and not the opposite. I want to congratulate the EC for scouting yonder beyond the continent. This guy will be sold to AZAM at a very good price.

Did’nt RAMA and DUBE went for trials and could not make it. LOGA should know that his best does not match the expectation elsewhere and set free our samba boy to shed off his excess fatty baggage as he fits the bill.

I wonder why all of you are mouthing with too much ado for nothing and yet there is no crisis at all.Believe me or not our SAMBA BOY is the new kid on the block and Rodrigues Giovanni is the player to watch in the kenyan premier league season 2013.

There is nothing wrong with his “bling bling” unless you are so yesterday with too much “USHAMBA”, what is important to me is that he delivers on the pitch and attain “CELEBRITY STATUS”. Such that he can even do commercials in TV,Billboards etc,so as to up his value.

Logarusic is just trying to manage him through intimidation so that he can know who is the BOSS and focus on his job. Our coach “LOGA” is a celebrity and he does not want an in house competition from his players and the best way to do this is to divide and rule through declaring his best and yet we all know that even the prime minister, minister for sports and fkf have declared there is national crisis when it comes to “strikers” in this country. That is why “SSEREKUMA” wants to switch his nationality.

Since LOGA is the highest paid tactician ,while Rodrigues “JA-BRAZIL”is the highest paid player it is just a matter of time before they start praising one another on how he can run with the ball and think at the same. IT IS IN GOR MAHIA WHERE THE TWO “ODIERO” WILL FIND HOME WITH SOLACE, POMP AND COLOUR.

This has something to do with AFRICA, EUROPE and SOUTH AMERICA . Our coach is suffering from “NYIEGO” and too much media attention. LET THE RACIAL SPAT CONTINUE.

I’ve enjoyed the debate, its really nice.

I also see doble standards in this recruitment, how comes Crispin Olando is told to wait for loga whereas Rodriguez is signed straight from the Airport?

True, its easier to enjoy GM by keeping away from the intrigues so i’ve taken my rightful place as a fan ‘2013 season here we come’. I tend to wish GM would have signed B.B and Alphie but as have been put here up by a fellow blogger..it has happened and we move on.

@ Fred Odhiambo..here things change, its the way of life the only thing that has been consistent is the mentality of ‘eating’ and ‘ so and so spent his millions’.

  • Can we also have the other Odiero from Denmark join the team. With those two our profile will be so high that sponsors will come rushing to support us. We will also be able to attract even more fans. Imagine if they fill the City stadium VIP stands to watch GM practise what will happen if we are playing. It’s good to take care of both the commercial and sports functions of the team

Obviously Crispin and BB were sacrificed for the overweight Soap opera / Samba star 4 the last CAF slot. This is a project of someone in the “executive community”.

@ Dan that is well put and our comrades on this blog are not aware that sponsors will always want to be associated with a brand that draws positive public attention and popular media coverage

And that is exactly what has happened since both LOGA and JA-BRAZIL arrived in the country. Both print and broadcast media are busy discussing GOR MAHIA “fiasco” especially the FM stations.

LOGA wanted to arrive in style but JA-BRAZIL stole the show from day one. NOW THE BOSS IS FIGHTING BACK VERY TACTFULLY THROUGH HIS OFFICE AND THAT IS WHY JA-BRAZIL FITNESS IS BEING COMPARED TO BE WELL BELOW “JBO”.

Very soon they will have an M.O.U. and all will be well

Somebody help me please . Am really confused and lost for words and I do not know which side of this debate is saying the truth.

First and foremost I thank our EC and the coach for settling down to work albeit after their own unwarranted fiasco that ended up with ever maverick Logan having his renumeration being exposed in the public domain. There was no confidentiality at all.

Secondly is this Issue Brazilian import who happens to be out of favor with the coach. Who identified and scouted for his talent. Is he an impostor or another “AURTUR” brothers. And the coach also is having double speak about his judgement on his skills and ability. Is he just unfit physically although talent to the extent that he can perform once he regains his fitness.

I read somewhere that the guys missed penalty on several occasion during yesterday training while the goal post had no keeper. Is it true?. And of course he had some deft touches later the Loga confirmed to be typically Brazillian brand of soccer. Is it true?

WHO IS FOOLING WHO ON THIS MATTER?. IS LOGA jealous and intimidating?

Did AR disappear from city after the JARO soldier and his crew started booing the “IMPOSTOR” since he did match their expectation. Does he stay at the residence of Brazillian ambassador and as such we can arrange for training exposure and soccer clinic
in brazil as a collabo. Is it a business strategy and why pay him hefty before assessment?.

@ Barefoot Bandit – you have said it all. Giovani is very innocent in this whole issue. ‘Someone’ spotted him and brought him to the big team, forgetting that times for trial aand errors at GM are long gone. Even fans sang for him ‘Kogalo nioko dwa loyo timbe…’ and one more new song.

The coach should not be blamed since so many bloggers e.g. Dan, Mwakio, Oduor22, Ochigah, Kamau and may others (the list is very long) had warned last year that his contract issues should be handled early enough before the break (last year) but the office seems to have treated the matter casually.

As Ochigah mentions in post no. 3 – the recruits which were being brought we were told Logarusic had left the list of whom he wants and I doubt if he was in the loop at all.

@13 Dan – it is true I did not see the need of bringing in Mutiso and leaving Black Berry but Logarusic has approved his stay, meaning he is ok. At the same time I support the fact that as fans or bloggers we can only wish but the buck stops with EC.

@ 15 fred odhiambo – the coach did not leave any list; it was just mind game. Probably before he left he had identified David Otieno and Kiongera but absolutely I can tell the list is just but a fiction or wishful thinking

@ 16 Pod Antie – I echo your sentiments; if the guy is not good he will be offloaded in June/July transfer.

@ 17 Creative Village – it is true Giovani could be a good player but then Lugarisic has to humble him before he can start using him. People sang for him…NTV brought in the news the guy missed a penault and I laughed since missing a penalty in a training is not a big issue compared to missing it when Kogalo is playing

@ 18 Jathur gi ji – the coach extended his laeve aginst the employer’s expectation but he can easily be forgiven because there were contract’s issues. On the on Rodriguez’s probably the coach wants to show him whe is the boss.

@ 19 OGANGO TRAILER – happy new year and welcome back. It is true if the guy ‘catches up’ we will sell him at a very high price. In fact selling him will be much easier.

@ 20 Kassam Mwivangano – I think Chispin Olando ought to have been signed but now it is too late so we will have to do with the Brazilian.

@ 21 Dan – instead of that odiero from Denmark, I think we can get a very good local player or we can wait for Jun/Jul transfer. Remember even Ssurunkuma we gone on Jun/July transfer window.

@ 22 onyango – it is true. Lazima jamaa ashtuliwe kidogo. If he was not good then contract is just but a paper so it could have been cancelled as both parties have to sign and was GM forced to sign him?

@ 23 ODUOR12 – now BB and Olando are gone; too bad. Previously when I suggested BB a certain blogger said we are doing the work of the coach and now I can see nearly all bloggers are seeing we needed him.

@ 24 OGANGO TRAILER – in fact the focus is now on GM ‘ahead in sports…’ which is good.

@ 25 OKOTH JABILO- karibu sana.

that is money gone to the drains. they are throwing money away but haggling with the coach that there is no money for a better salary. Gor Mahia is going to have the dubious distinction of paying a bench warmer the highest salary in the league. the boys who shall be doing duty for the club are still paod beggarly figures yet a tourist gets paid the highest!!! watch this space, this giovanni saga will explode in the club sooner rather than later. the best solution is to get this guy back to brazil now, not tomorrow. he is a complete liability

The breaking news is that this Brazilian guy was brought here for purely marketing purposes.

I took my time and went to watch him train. And alas! the guy is a complete flop. He’s not not gonna make it!

Right now, the chairman is being mislead that the guy will make Loga’s first team, leave alone the bench!

K’ogalo faithful, beware! You haven’t got the full soap opera yet. This could easily break K’Ogalo.

My only concern is: the enemies are busy assembling their already sharpened pangas, knives etc. Yet we are saying that we should wait for some of our weapons time to sharpen up!

Surely, even I could have offered to scout this guy for free in Brazil for my beloved K’Ogalo.
