Patrick Oboya Profile

This weeks man of the moment is Patrick Oboya.

Patrick Oboya joined Gor Mahia during the mid season transfer period of 2013 after a long period of inactivity due to injuries. He was unfit and despite showing occasional flashes of brilliance with his enchanted left foot, he seemed a long way off from fitness. Oboya however worked hard on his fitness and worked on gelling with his team-mates. His hard work came to fruition when Kogalo took on Thika United in the second round of the GolTV shield. On this day Oboya showed his professional pedigree. He put on a brilliant display with deft touches and superb ball control. As usual the ball seemed like it was glued to his feet as he gave the Thika defenders a torrid time with his strong runs. Oboya capped his performance with a well taken goal in the 50th minute.  He was named MVP.

This boy Oboya had not played for six months when gor signed him. He was unfit. It looks like gor has done a good job training him. I now think he is ripe for ingwe or breweries to harvest him….Asante gor

How I wish our players would look beyond “Omani div.2s/Vietmans”. Without gate collection “antics” AT EVERY GAME & proper management am sure we can improve players terms. We dont want 2 be mere statistics in CECAFA/CAF tourneys.
Therefore though i will get 20/40 from the class 8 compo marker as usual i continue to urge members 1.to revamp our membership structure 2 make EC more transparent/accountable e.g turn GM 2 at least a cooperative not just increase members fees without improving the…..

    the structure.
    2. Avoid unknowns & politicans with lofty promises of “building houses” yet priorities like a professional coach’s salary is an issue,TB transport & the teams don’t even have the own training ground let alone stadiums. Imagine continuing to pay 20% of gate collections 4 stadium hire. Give legends a chance I prefer Obwaka,Lule,Sianga,Makamu & a fulltime secretariat with a CEO & FIN & ADMIN MGR. BUT FEEL FREE 2 SUGGEST NAMES OF THOSE U THINK CAN FIT THE BILL.

Personally i knew oboya in 2001 when he played for st.catherine primary school in Kerigan cup final against mukuru Kayaba primary at st.elizabeth. He scored with a bicycle kick and everyone knew then that he’ll one day be one of the kenya’s finest. He however gained a lot of weight as he grew which made him loose some speed and agility we knew him for. The whole fuata nyayo slum waz happy to see one of their own representing the country and what a reward with that volley against angola. All is not lost. Let him stay here and rediscover his form
