Gor Mahia go down to Police 3-1

Gor Mahia's unbeaten run came to a grinding halt when they lost to Police 3-1

Story from Capital FM
NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 3 – Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run in the FKF Premier League was brought to a screeching halt in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Kenya Police FC, and it was poetic justice that the hammer blow was delivered by two of their former players.

In a game that was marred pre-match by mumbles over the ‘exorbitant’ gate charges slapped by home team Police, it was always meant to have as much drama on the field and it was exactly so.

Gor were first on the scoresheet, the on-form Austin Odhiambo breaking the deadlock.

Ex Gor players Tito Okello and Kenneth Muguna would deliver the blow to the unbeaten run, the latter levelling before South Sudanese international Okello scored a double to hand the resurgent Police their fourth win in a row that moves them third in the standings with 33 points, 10 behind the leaders.

Odhiambo scored the opener in the fifth minute of the game, his shot from inside the box deflected by Abud Omar into the net.

However, Police fought and just quarter of an hour after the restart, Muguna levelled, sliding in at the backpost to connect to a David Okoth cross from the left.

The goal gave Police some improved confidence and they continued raiding. They went into the lead in the 73rd minute, Muguna turning from scorer to provider to set up Okello who turned and shot inside the box.

They would cement their lead in the 93rd minute of the game, Okello completing his brace off a Francis Kahata assist, another former K’Ogalo player skinning them.

Meanwhile, Posta Rangers moved to second spot after a 1-0 win away to Nzoia Sugar. They are on 35 points, eight behind K’Ogalo.
