After the Gor Mahia Executive Committee (EC) meeting held on Friday 4 January, it has emerged that team manager Tom Ogweno has been fired, officially.
The team manager fell out with coach Zdravko Logarusic towards the end of the 2012 campaign and he had to be suspended but according to a source close to the club’s top management, the former Kenyan international will no longer serve at the team.
Temporary choice
The source also told futaa.com that the meeting, which took place at the club’s offices at the Nyayo National Stadium from 1400hrs to 2200hrs resolved that Abdul Iddi Salim, the goalkeepers’ coach, will hold the role temporarily until the coach comes.
-Ogweno has been sacked; it was one of the very contentious issues in the EC meeting and was resolved that it is for the good of the team since he is not in terms with almost everyone on the technical bench.
Turn of events
-The chairman was handed the role of informing him of the turn in events and when the coach comes he will name the new TM but Iddi has been named in holding capacity, the source told futaa.com.
Iddi Juma was in charge as the TM when the team played the last two matches of the season, in the FK Cup.
Thats a good gesture for the team. The technical bench must be 99% united with clear chain of command, defined roles and reporting structure free from EC interference except for where necessary with support. Let Tom Ogweno “TEMBO” as we use to call him in high school days learn from his experience in K’ogalo to define his childhood sport best of luck for him.
EC: LET EVERY DECISION BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR GREAT CLUB
Happy new year fellow bloggers!
I am happy to be back. This site, gormahia.net is my second home. I’ve always feel proud in the company of some the finest football brains of this great club, K’Ogalo. Albert Kosero of the sofaset branch fame, Eric from Ghana, Brother Mwakio from Taita Taveta, Okoth Jabilo, the self confessed traditionalist of the Mahia spirit fame, Kamau wa Njoroge, Le Pastre and many others; you guys have made my last year enjoyable. I cannot mention each of you by name but rest assured I value your company. I am looking forward to get new friends this season.
As we start the 2013 season, let us always remember that our goal is one; to make Gor Mahia a successful club in this region. As fans, we have our responsibility. Perhaps let me at this juncture thank you a million times for the wonderful support you gave the club last season. K’Ogalo enjoys unparalleled fanbase which also multiplied the revenue a hundredfold. Let us keep the spirit.
On the issue of hooligalism, it is my hope that fans will behave responsibility. This club has lost a big chunk of it’s revenue through heavy fines imposed by FKF due to theirs section of their unruly fans. The players at one time played on an empty stadium. We’ve had a love and hate relationship with SuperSport, the payTv stations that beam live some of our matches across Africa. The same case with Tuzo, our main shirt sponsor. No wonder, the hooliganism synonymous with Gor has gotten a political twist. RAO is suffering silently because of our never ending stone throwing mania. We’ve continued to loose very potential sponsors with deep pockets as a result.
Another thing that continue to disturb my mind is the isssue of patriotism. I have never known the relationship between Gor Mahia and USA. Why fly a foreign flag in our stadium? Have you ever seen an American flying a Kenyan flag anyhowly? Stop this madness! If you must fly a flag, there are several miniature Kenyan or Gor Mahia flags around. This is one area the club must exploit this season. To procure as many miniature flags as possible.
Finally, the team manager is part of the technical team whose head is the team coach. If the TM has acted contrary to his boss, then he has no business being there. Gor Mahia is a professional club that is run professionally. We wish Tom Ongweno well elsewhere.
WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS INFORMATION?IF TM WAS NOT RHYMING WITH EVERYBODY HOW COMES THAT HE PERFORMED WELL JUST LIKE THE TEAM?WHERE IS THE SACKING LETTER?IS IT THE COACH THAT APPOINTS GOR’S TEAM MANAGER?
LETS ATTEND A MEETING IN GOR MAHIA OFFICE ON THIRTEENTH,10AM
The TM must be someone who can work together with the coach and the rest of the technical bench; if they can’t work together then let him go
GIVE THIS JOB TO FORMER LEGENDS – PETER DAWO WOULD BE MY FIRST CHOICE.
