Gor Mahia held by Homeboyz
Scoring goals is proving to extremely difficult for Kogalo this year. This time they were held by newly promoted Kakamega Homeboyz to a scoreless draw at Mumias complex on Sunday.
Indeed Gor Mahia were under no illusions as Western province usually proves a difficult hunting ground for the team going back to the days of the Kanduyi jinx with Nzoia Sugar in the 1980s when almost all matches they played there ended in scoreless draws. This however is rather difficult to swallow because Kakamega Homeboyz is a newly promoted team that is dwelling at the bottom of the table unlike Nzoia Sugar and Mumias Sugar which were grizzled veteran teams that often finished in the top 5.
Both sides squandered hosts of chances. Kogalo’s twin striking power of Ugandan Dan Serunkuma and Rama Salim was the fireworks and on several times the duo nearly caused havoc.
For Homeboyz, Dennis Mukaisi and Moses Mudavadi were the most dangerous. However the Kogalo defence of Israel Emuge, Donald Mosoti and Chris Wekesa stood tall.
With a paltry 11 pints from six games, a draw with the bottom clun and 9th position in the standings, Gor Mahia now badly need to go back to the drawing board to come up with a game plan to pull themelseves out of their slump
in my view kngalo followers all over kenya should revive all our feeder teams in the grassroots ex.kisumu hrtstars f.c. lake warriors, nyana nakuru, kiu blakstars
YES ! PREDICTABLE LINE UP IS THE ORDER OF THE DAY ……….WE ARE DEFINATELY NOT GOING TO SCORE MORE THAN 20 GOALS THIS SEASON…YOU CAN BE REST ASSURED. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS TWO THINGS 1. LACK OF CREATIVITY IN MIDFILED AND 2. LACK OF A PROOVEN GOALSCORER. SURELY, YOU DONT NEED A PHD IN FOOTBALL TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE PLAYERS WE HAVE AT THE MOMEMENT SIMPLY DO NOT MATCH UP ……………..
Me I will not blame it on the players. The players only play according to the TB’s intructions. We know Rama to be a very creative attacking midfielder. Why do we stick to a stricking formation that does not deliver week in week out? I am losing patience and I would recommend someone’s unpaid leave if I had the powers. Good thing I don’t.
Guys, these are the same players we had last year and they were delivering. So it cannot be about the players. Could be something wrong with the core of the team. On the midfield I agree that there is something missing, but on the strikers I still believe we have the best in the league. Why we are not scoring could be because last year Loga was adventerous becuase he was not expected to win the league unlike this year. So the pressure is on everybody, including some fans. I think we need to go back to OGAT instead of thinking about the league. The consoling thing is that we are not losing , meaning that when the tide changes we will be back to where we belong. Let’s not also forget the motivation the lower teams have when playing Gor. All in all we neeed to go back to our unpredictable game. As it is even my local village team can give Gor a run for their money
Gentlemen, all Kogalo supporters I said here the coach appears to be fearful of something and thats why he sticks with a “safe” formation game in game out. That way goal draught will continue and as Jakoyo says we will end up with very few goals and that means we may not win the league. And maybe until Kiongera returns as I think he is the only one now not affected by the phobia that has gripped our strikers currently OR we get another talismanic striker in the mid season.
@ 3 Barefoot Bandit – you are right, Rama Salim needs to be in the midfied behind the strikers…
@4 Dan – it is true these are same players who delivered last season b urt footbal is dynamic and you can never rely on form of yesterday or yester-years. Hoowever, goals will be forthcoming as many teams will soon start underating us therefore let us all be patient.
Kenya Premier League winners is usually determined in the second leg and compared to other seasons, we are ok. There is no need putting pressure on the Coach or Technical bench or blaming anyone. Goals will definitely come. Remember we still have 3 matches at hand with 11 points already in our basket. We should aim at finishing the first leg in top 3 so that come the second leg we can move straight to overtaking lane.
SOME ONE TELL LOGA: That his mind games are Wishful thinking
SOME ONE TELL LOGA: That his ideas are out dated in 2013 TPL
SOME ONE TELL LOGA: He blackmailed the EC & must deliver OR!!
SOME ONE TELL LOGA; Players have switched off & demotivated !
SOME ONE TELL LOGA; The local coaches are proving him wrong
SOME ONE TELL LOGA; He might end within top 8 and not a champ
SOME ONE TELL LOGA; He better style up or else…..!!!!!
@Walter, I like your optimism. We need to be carefull as we criticise and offer more solutions instead. Pointing fingers from the comfort of our desks will not result in goals. The few matches I have watched the strikers are really trying their best but looks like things are not working for them. I’m sure everyone, including the players want those goals to come. I hear some comments now that our line up is predictable yet some times last year the cry was that we didn’t have a first eleven. That is the typical GM fan for you.
The truth is that we are not winning as much as we need to yet on the same breadth we are not losing as much as a bad team should.
We need not destabilise the team but have a genuine and frank round table talk with all the stakeholders to find out what is not happening. Maybe there is nothing wrong only that we cannot score. RVP recently had a goal drought of almost 10 matches but Fergie kept the faith. Can’t we do tha same? Afterall, all other top teams are struggling and so why should GM be an exception? Though this is not to justify the slump we are in currently
Walter and Dan thank you. I have listened to your sober assessment of the state of things. I have heard, otherwise I was going to advice Zdravko Logarusic to concentrate on GM administrative duties and relinquish the coaching role to Sir Bobby who am sure can deliver. I have heard you and I retreat. I will not go ahead with the advice.
@8 dan, what i mean by ‘predictable line up’ is that week in week out gor mahia is not scoring but instead what does EC do ? NOTHING. Infact, we keep lining up the same players ..INSANITY IS DOING THINGS THE SAME WAY OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS
Folks, Don’t you think we need divine intervention? We used to go to St. Stephen’s church along Joggo road when GM was playing and we used to get the favourable results even when we were ‘down’. Maybe we need to revisit the same. But as everyone has indicated we also need to do something from our end. Afterall God helps those who try to do something positive from their end.
@Jakoyo, you are right. Everyone now knows what Danny and Rama will do once they have the ball. That’s the reason we need the Lavatsa, Wiper. Gaucho and Oga to provide that fresh and unpredictable approach to the team.
On another note since we are meeting Muhoroni in Mumias let’s hope the team will not come back to the City but camp in Western kenya for the match
the voice of the fans is as important as any other because we are also stakeholders. It must therefore be said that the team is below par and we must arrest this situation sooner rather than later or risk playing catch-up with the leaders!!
Vitu zitabadilika folks,I still trust Loga will deliver, three games at hand are 9 points and my prayer is we start winning mara this. Wapi Mwakio jataita.
Gentlemen av had all what u guyz av said but just to start u did not xpect us to win that game for sure, that was asking for too much me i was very happy with the draw since i knew we were going to loose.the reason why am saying that is i went to kisumu on sartaday so that i can rest waiting for the match, just to my suprise when i reach kericho i met the team bus and players on there way to kisumu, and that was almost 5.30pm so it means these guyz didnt train on that sato then na hiyo bus ya club vile inakaa it means they were even tired for the game, now the question is why did the team had to travel on sato? kama fans wenye wanaenda kuona mpira, yapili why is the coach finishing Anguyo? why do u insist to play him in midfield and it cant work?,for those who were on the main stand u saw Anguyo alikataa kusalimia the TB after bieng withdrawn from playing,if we cant play him in his usual position then why dodnt we sell him than frastrating him every nw and then? me my word is that from yester game my conclusion is loga is not a coach and i know people will start shouting with my name but mark my words what am telling u will come to pass, hatuna coach yesterday these man could not even read the game,am disapointed in these man, with the kind of suport that was thea jana atleast tungeshinda, these man is not worth 500k period and i rest my case
A draw against the bottom of the table team won’t do.Another 2nd place finish won’t do, no not at Kshs.xxx, xxx a month.Remember we need to be league champs to take part in CECAFA.
Let me repeat that from the several training sessions i’ve attended for K’galo, am yet to see any real target practice be it set pieces or otherwise.Mr. Loga is good at ensuring that training sessions take place and are orderly but WHAT ABOUT THE ACTUAL TACTICS DURING THE TRAININGS.THAT WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES
Mr. Loga himself admitted that its hard to score three goals EVEN DURING PRACTICE.
Its not our players who are predictable rather its our tactics.WE KNOW MOST OF OUR LOCAL OPPONENTS WILL ALWAYS SIT BACK YET WE HAVE NO ANTIDOTE.
Am afraid that its becoming apparent that Mr.Loga is the type of coach who needs ready made highly talented players (especially midfielders) to be successful. With the current players he has failed to develop a system of play that is effective against rivals. He only option is a fluid fast accurate passing/ possession game. But is he willing or will he be given that chance and time, by EC and fans? The other option is to get the required MIDFIELD talent across the border during the upcoming transfer window.
The MAJOR problem is that if Coaches leaves then K’galo will be left at the mercy of the Hyena community.
Kweli,we fans are truly between the devil and the deep blue sea.
The question is does these man deserve the 500k?,Gor is the only club that train just once in a day,in the morning me i demand we must get results out of our money we r paying him,how can we be outplayed by these boys like that yesterday? then we said ati tumeanza vizuri compared to last season not knowing that hiyo kuanza vibaya is what made us not to win the league last season
Ooh Laa la” CALL A SPADE A SPADE AND THIS IS TIME”
@ ODUOR 12 and @ Erico Jarae i ECHO your authoritative post above. Let us not shy from speaking the truth before LOGA destroys talent and vanishes to the next destination. This guy has a lot of tiff with players at a personal level and as such there is bad inter-personal relationship in the camp ,especially with KEVO 14 and LAVATSA. When you engage this guys negatively they will simply switch off and the result is a demoralized outfit like ANGUYO’S case at hand. SOMEONE TELL LOGA TO STYLE UP!
I agree with all blogers who r disapointed with performance of the team.We cannot afford to pay Loga 500k to loose or draw 2 bottom table team.If we dont demand 4r results 4rm him then I dont think we’ve capacity to win the league. Even if we had Kiongera, we might be a team which can only win 1-0 all the time. How can someone earn like an MP or PS and draw with a team whose coach earns less than 100k.Thats unacceptable.I dont think we can win a match 3-0 or4-0. Even division 1 we cannot beat say 2-0,
The script is rewriting itself as the fans take positions. The fans taking position are the who is who when it comes to zero tolerance of non-performance in the K’Ogalo TB. I am reminded of the Zico days and the AA anticlimax at Karuturi. Gentlemen I am fully with you however I urge that we don’t go the Zico or the AA way. There is still time and we can avoid those options. EC, fans and all concerned must give dialogue a chance. This situation can be salvaged but only through open and candid dialogue. It is now obvious that all is not well. Whatever it is I believe it is surmountable if heads are put together. I don’t want to condemn the coach but there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that he has no clue as to how to get the team out of this cul-de-sac. EC should move fast before anarchists take advantage. I would hate to see any member of the TB mistreated the Jolawi way. No. Let nobody touch the TB. I can get spoilt (anyalo kethora) if any nicompoop lays a hand on Sir Bobby.
It is good tht we have come in the open to air our dissatisfaction with the latest results posted by the team. We need to be miracle workers to point out tht the midfielders and the strikers are not working telepathically. Its like we are still building a team. The coach has every reason to introduce any player/players in the two mentioned areas as the current combination has failed to deliver. Any players signed to play for Gor Mahia have a right to be fielded and Loga must be taken to task to explain why he is so rigi with his line-ups. Failure to give any satisfactory answer must be followed by an inquest. Our midfielders are all at per and so Loga has a duty to explain to us why the preference on some players while the same players continue to post disappointing performances. We demand to know his reasons.
Guys, now that Mourinho is leaving Real Madrid and we feel that the coach might not be good enough for Gor why don’t we tempt him to come to Gor. Maybe we will start winning. Have we considered that the problem might be bigger than we thought. We had Sir Bobby before Loga came and it was business as usual in the EC. Let’s listen to @Barefoot and not go our usual way of continuing to dig a hole even when we are inside.
One of our greatness WEAKNESS as a club is to reason together to come out with a solution since some of us have this belief that for things to be corrected everything must be razed to the ground.
You might think that we are staring at relegation yet we even have the capacity to still clinch this league depending on how we handle ourselves when down.
It’s a blessing that the two matches are played out of Nairobi to give those who rarely watch the team a chance to do so in peace. Our next match in Nairobi is against Ingwe though I don’t know what will happen with the Ingwe SSMB-ban
@Dan 21 your next game is against Muhoroni a way, venue could be Mumiasi, although not fully confirmed. Against my Ingwe will be 11th and could as well be Mumiasi if not City. May God bless Ingwe.
