Logarusic dissapointed with draw

Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic feels that his side should have beaten the Kakamega Homeboyz at the weekend.
Gor were the dominant side at the Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday but could not get the breakthrough against a highly defensive Homeboyz side.
It meant they shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw, which in the bigger picture favours neither side, and Logarusic feels that they should have done better.
“It disappoints not to win such games which we should be. The players gave their best but we simply could not get through because they defended very deep,” he said.
“The tactic was to frustrate us and they succeeded. At the end of the day, it is two points dropped for us.
“On the other hand, it was away from home and we have the point, which we will take to our next game,” he concluded.
Gor next take on Muhoroni Youth over the weekend in a Nyanza derby match and are currently in ninth place on the league table with 11 points from six games.
Due to continental commitments, Gor have played up to four games less than some of the other teams in the league, and could surge to the top spots if they can perform in their games in hand.
defensively we are okay,i don,t know why the coach cannot put a lethal attacking, while he has so many speedy options.Loga, please try other players.
you cannot really on the same strikers for two years running Everybody knows them. you can either call it deep defending. allow me to call it blunt strike force
We need to work extra hard. The league leaders are SOFAPAKA with 16 points from 9 matches; GM has 11 points from 6 matches. I wish we could win our remaining 3 matches to move to the summit.
We need to learn how to play in a ‘locked match’ ie when the opponent is defending. It’s like so many teams and especially ‘small’ teams and miiddle table teams will never play open games against GM so it’s high time the coach trains the players how to unlock such games. In such cases you can as well play long and high balls so that you are already inside the 18-box (D) each time and this can give us an advantage as the opponent may commt fouls that could result to pressure leading to goals.
On the other hand we need to thoroughly prepare for each match as there is nolonger any small team in the league. Each team carries equal potential and underating them could lead to a great disappointment
TO walter thts true man ur correct sana let them play long balls manu way .mistakes happend there kwa box .than playing shemeji nione and we are going no where .with the sorry ya kila saa ohh this ohh that.me am just praying things to change .
@Walter I get you. If a team locks the game we have to use a different set of players. Most of our regular players are ball players and hence struggle when the game is locked or physical. Rama, Danny, Pablo and Kevo have problems in such games.
That’s when we need Anguyo despite his failings to help us push forward as well as Natty. Mutiso is also good in opening the game with his runs in the flanks.
Lavatsa on a good day can also be good in such games.
From the log we are not in a worse situation as some of us suggest but we could do better.
From the beginning of the league this season is gonna be tough for the leading teams and it’s only the second leg which will separate the top from the rest. It will be more of endurance than anything else and that’s where teams like Ulizi and Tusker will thrive. The question is, will Gor have stabilised in terms of injuries and impatient fans to fight for the title? Only time will tell
Hmm are we waiting for other teams to play openn games for us to score?
Is it against football rules and culture to play a locked game?
Mara i’ll not come back..Mara Anguyo..Mara 4-4-2..Mara mind games..Mara 500k..Mara we want Mzungu..Mara 1st eleven..Mara sub standard players..Mara Kiongera..Mara injuries..Mara strikers..Mara i’ll win the league..Mara we should have won..
I’ll wait and see.
a good coach(not that loga is bad)and good players(not that ours are bad)normally find a way of breaking through locked games and the tightest defences.let us not use that as an excuse for not scoring!how are teams like KCB scoring 3,6goals at will?do they have a better strategy and game plan than Gor?you answer that….
Coach should be able to come up with a strategy to unlock bunker defences. Thats why analipwa pesa mingi.
The team should work hard on set pieces. Going forward this is going to be important because when a team plays bunker defence, they normally concede a lot of free-kicks and corners.
The coach has reached the End of Thinking Capacity in terms of what next. It appears like last season’s achievemnts were a combination of shere players’ willpower, zeal of the fans and ‘fluke’ of the coach. He is helpless but hopeful on unfounded hope. He cost us an adventure in continental campaign through his amateurish tactics against ENPPI. He is at it again in the local scene and true to his form he goes into denial with loads and loads of excuses. He is a good man and I have nuthing personal against him. I only have something official against him. Everytime his experiments fail he never misses an excuse. He did a craniotomy on us (cracked our skulls = obarowiwa) after ENPPI with mara Kiongera and Odhis Dube injured, mara ENPPI’s budget, mara the team needs to play 5 competitive matches, mara Lavatsa, very few added minutes in extra time, mara local teams have become predictable, mara he is more scared of lower tier teams….ooh the excuses are endless. The coach should take responsibility instead of groping for excuses. Actually the coach should stop being a rotten potato himself and instead start thinking while running at the same time. He is well aware of what awaits ‘rotten potatoes’ and those who cannot “think and run” at the same time. Coach Zdravko rise up like a phoenix and restore our faith in you like before. If not then CEDE coaching power to Sir Bobby and concentrate on what you are best at…admistration of GM and player welfare.
I second tactics is the key.Target practice. In a locked game set pieces come in handy as a way to score.Passing game also helps but you need a creative midfield to split the defense. Why not shoot from outside the box? Am yet to see any of these @ K’galo’s training sessions.
@ Kshs.500,000 per month we want solutions not excuses.
But then again even if the team wins, executive community does not have money to pay winning bonuses. Could this be the problem?
Oh Oh my beloved K’galo you hold such potential but are bedecked by so many problems.
Yes Riaga @8, i agree.
Surely the work of a coach is to strategise for each match, not just specializing on media talk here and there day in day out whilst we play the same same game everyday making same mistakes, failing to score…. Definitely we were going to ground to a halt at sometime coz our approach was always the same.
By the way who is he sacking next?
Otherwise i salute bloggers for keeping off the former barrage of where is so and so, why not field so and so? Such that everyone takes full responsibility for the choices he makes and own actions. I keep wondering why everything of late keep beginning and ending with Kiongera while the player came from KCB and the same team is doing just fine scoring goals without him even as people die weeping about his absence at GM.

Next matches against the revamped Muhoroni and re-energized AFC Leopards SC ,respectively gives ma-fans some reason to be worried and of which we remain doubtful if LOGA has anything extra to stop this worrying trends.
@ Dan on post #5, “the holier than thou” in gormahia.net, please be informed that it is LOGA himself who set his bar and standards beyond his ideal and realistic limits. Besides demanding for his hefty salary 10,000 USD/ month of which our EC obliged to offer him 150% increment and settled at 500k, with a promise that he can sweep all the trophies available and as such our “over-demanding attitude” for better performance are not only genuine but part and parcel of his performance contract OBLIGATIONS.
LOGA predicted that he only needs to win twenty matches and we shall be home and dry, but look at the statistics. The next two matches will be a litmus test and if he can not re-invent the wheel the soonest possible then am sorry for him from the way i know this club from time immemorial;
“WE NEVER BANK ON THE PAST HISTORY AND GLORY BUT PRESENT ISSUE’S AT STAKE AND THAT IS NOTHING SHORT OF KPL 2013”
@Kassam Kiongera is an experiment that fate sabotaged. K’Ogalo’s progress in the continental campaign came to an abrupt end because RM Kiongera around whom the project revolved was suddenly not available. Now it is evident that the local league was also going to be blazed with RM Kiongera as the spearhead. Now that he is unavailable even our success in the domestic front will be a cropper. We overdepended on him so much that we trashed the two workhorses of the team (Besigye and Victor Moses). And as if that was not enough, we continue to antagonise Besigye even in Mumias.
Will history repeat itself? From my statistics (I could be wrong maybe) we have never had a single coach in a season from 1995 and conicidentally that’s the last time we won the league. The other thing is that those coaches were haunted out of the club by the fans who unfortunately didn’t have a plan B. We chased away Pamzo only to finish behing Tusker and struggle against SONY, with City stars of Agido we also struggled. So where is the problem? Is it that we want to emulate the Gor of 70s and 80s without a corresponding player and EC base?
@Dan if it is players then Gor Mahia has one of the best squads in East Africa. There is a lot of depth in our current squad. What is evident is that some undercurrents are in motion and they could have been formented by the coach (refer to O’Trailer’s comment in the previous article about players’ sentiments). Oduor12 sums it up very well: in GM there are problems everywhere that require urgent solutions. Dan remember that it is not so long ago that fan misconduct was the subject of discussion in this blogpost.
Who is paying the bandit?
I will mention names in my observation and hope the players, TB and officials bear with me.
1. The playing unit is supposed to be more experienced, cohesive and better tactically in 2013. On this note Loga has to answer. Are you in charge? What is your take on this? Can i expect anything new? I give a D.
2. The defence is supposed to be stronger with Ja Shirati and Omuga on top of things. The fullbacks need more movement upfront to support our attackers. Thankfully i give them a B in defence.
3. Midfield: Njuguna is getting back his form. My weak link in 2013 is Akumu. Even the Stars coaches have ignored the midfielder of the year. What is the matter brother? Are they paying you? I give midfield a C.
4. Attack: This is our strongest area ‘on paper’ yet it is the area worrying most lovers of Kogalo. What is your role Odhis? Is it the coach or are you a full time cover for everyone? Kevo, how many minutes can you play? Rama and SereGinene are working hard but they need you more. Why did we sign Natty? Loga, did you ask that we sign him? I give our attack a C-.
5. Zdravko Logarusic: Is there any player who has grown or developed under your watch? I only see good players becoming poorer everyday. What is your take? What is it with injuries? Is it the training regime? Are they on a go-slow? I give Loga a C.
6: George Bwana: How much do you collect these days? Are you paying players and the coaches? Why do old tickets resurface on other games? What is the position with the sponsor? Why does the team travel to Kisumu on a Saturday to play in Mumias on a Sunday? I give our EC a B- in 2013 because at least they took our team for CAF games without a fundraiser.
7. Fans: In 2013 we haven’t been as supportive and must improve. Maybe post election caused this but now we need to pull our team up by hook or crook. I give fans a B.
GO TO HELL COMRADES JOE RIAGA, KASSAM, BAREFOOT BANDIT AND YOUR COMPATRIOT, ODOUR 12
whilst i enjoy your company on this blog, the kind of pressure you want to build against coach Logarusic is unwarranted and immature to say the least.
Zdravko Logarusic came to this club at a time when it was facing an imminent threat of relegation. Like hurricane katrina that swept the state of New Orleans in the US, Logarusic first task was to get rid of rotten potatoes. The rest is now history.
He want on to lift two of the three titles at stake; the FKF and Top 8 knockout cups. We were unlucky we did not go beyond the group stages during the CAF Confenderation campaign. Clearly, there was unmatched zeal from all those involved to break the jinx but ENNPI were outstanding on that day.
The coach is also at liberty to ventilate on an issue that he felt robbed him of maximum points at any match. The law allows him too to make pre and post match analysis. I agree with him when he talked of ‘tacktical naivety’ absent in KPL.
The kind of criticism directed to the coach is hurting and unfair to the man who has given his all to the club. We will never built this club through a barrage of criticim. Instead we should cheer on our officials, technical bench and players to do their best.
@brother pareiyo I totally agree with you. Why do some people expect the team to win every match? It is practically impossible. What will they say if we beat Muhoroni and Afc? It’s time we rally behind the team and take the overtakiog lane as we did last season. We have only drawn 2 matches yet some are already up in arms that the team is underperforming. It is true that some players are not at their best especially the midfielders but blaming the coach for that isn’t right. Dan shikanda was on radio jambo today and blamed it all on players and their of the pitch life and attitude. He noted that some guys in Gor are not living as they ought to, as footballers.
Pareyio2013 i dont understand what u are saying here what achivement has these man loga brought to this great club if i can ask? if its about fkf cup we were the defending champs when he came, top 8 was ours if not bcoz of bad officiating that made ulinzi to take the cup,so nothing thesse man has brought to the club, all the players we have were the product of the previous local coaches xcept the kiongeras, omuga, gathu and the oga that he even dont play, now we can even say that better zico now than these waiganjo,am not against him but me personally i demand for results the kind of game we r playing is not worth what we are paying these man
If hell is what it takes to turn things round for K’Ogalo then hell here I gladly come with my compatriots having been dispatched by none other than my straight shooting comrade Pareyio 2013. In the meantime those remaining on earth will soon witness the turn around as we start scoring goals. Thank you Pareyio 2013.
I want to appeal to those that love GM as much as I do to sobberly read this posting and to criticise it positively where needed. I am not one to Castigate a coach on his systems and methods or lack of one or both for nothing. I have greatly restrained myself from writing On This Man LOGA and his TACTICS from the time he joined GM. But after six dull matches in the current KPL season where Gor Mahia huffed and puffed before posting mixed and uninspiring RESULTS (W3D2L1), we need to examine his technical and Tactical abilities or lack of both. And I dare say:- LOGA the coach has very limited technical and tactical approach to his coaching. He thrives a lot on hype, adrenaline, motivation and sadly threats. REASONS/EXAMPLE -During the SONY SUGAR match, they (SONY) were sitting deep and were inviting us to attack them. This called for a ball carrier ALA MESSI and a winger to stretch play. LOGA stuck to the narrow and ineffective combination of two short strikers – Danny and Rama striking through the overcrowded defence of SONY. He should have switched D. Owino into the Central attacking midfield role, removed the sloppy Teddy to bring in Anguyo in the Central defence. Anguyo, Mosoti and Owino are all very strong players and a threat at set pieces because of their heights. Owino has the ability to carry the ball forward and can track back with speed. Why is it that LOGA could not see this!! He has only one predictable Line-up for all the opponents SINCE he joined GM! He fielded the same line up against the newly promoted Kakamega Home Boys expecting a different result- win!! He therefore passed a big chance to spring a surprise on the unsuspecting new boys by fielding a different line up. We therefore ended up with a draw against a very weak opponent. He fears trying out new Combinations even when his preferred Line-ups are so flat. The same line ups that struggles week In week out to win matches convincingly!! LOGA waits for the fans to express their displeasure before tweaking his starting Line-ups, but just abit. He should be commended however for not fearing to make unpopular substitutions when least expected. RECOMENDATIONS- LOGA must do the following:- 1. Start using Rama as the creative mind of the team (no8 or10) but not as a twin striker. 2 Must begin to use width (wingers) to stretch opponents and to deliver crosses in opponents’ box. Please use Kevo and Mutiso. Look at how both Bayern Munchen and Borrusia Dortmund recently destroyed Barca and R Madrid respectively using the width advantage. Mario Goetz, Robben, Riberry, Muller, Reus were all capable of creating havoc on the opposition because of their ability to attack from outside wide. 3. Must begin to use a fit-again Lavatsa as the FOCAL of our attack in the middle. He has the speed, the build, the height, stamina, control, and packs a good shot and an eye for goal. Danny can play thr no 10 role or even from the wings when Kiongera is still injured. 4. In the absence of Mutiso and Kiongera the coach can use Yusuf Juma upfront in a wide left position to provide crosses especially in the 2nd half when the opposition is tiring. 5. Abbey Kunrunmi appears to be a decent striker. Why is LOGA affraid to give him a chance to prove himself especially now That Danny is struggling with form!! 6. GOR must play with Wingers who must be impressed upon to deliver quality early crosses for the strikers to attack. 7 Rotation must be done when needed. The best defender in KPL 2012-Anguyo, comes to mind. He needs game time in his favoured defensive position- the CENTRAL DEFENCE or else LOGA is going to destroy his confidence. He can play in almost any partnership at the back for GM. He can play with Anguyo /Mosoti, Anguyo/Owino, Anguyo/Musa and Anguyo/Emuge. All these are cable players and Gor Mahia is Lucky to have them. Doing this will keep the players fresh. It will give someone like Mosoti the much needed rest as he looks drained already. Look at wht Man Utd has achieved with their rotation policy- the EPL TROPHY. So LOGA must also learn to listen to advice or else these players are going to suffer burnout. 8. David Owino is so talented such that LOGA must begin to play him in the midfield when there is need. He is comparable to Phil Jones of Man Utd and so he can perform similar duties as the Red devils man. The eye for details on player’s talents and growth are just some of the things tht separates great coaches from good ones. LOGA HAS NOT this ability. He is stalling the TALENTS of the following players 1. Willis Ochieng GK 2. David Otieno DF 3. Musa Mohamed DF. 4 Ivan Anguyo DF 5.Yusuf Juma DF 6. Moses Otieno Odhiambo MF 7. Mutiso MF 8. Abbey Kunrunmi. Look at what Gor just unearthed the other day by fielding Gaucho and Mutiso!! These two boys if entrusted to Bobby and looked after very well by the club will become the club’s mainstay in the next 2 yrs. LOGA is a journeyman so he will never grow/develop any group of players for any team. He is A Mourinho type of coach as he needs and recruits only those players that in his eyes are star players. Finaly, I have scouted 3 very interesting players from Karuturi Sports. A defender jersey no 5, Owino in midfield and a striker jersey no 15. The coaches can check them out. Adios and Happy reading.
Now that The Hell Four are on their way to hell, I hope the team will mark their exit with a win against Muhoroni on Saturday. I am curiously wondering how Ogango Trailer missed that hellbound dispatch…..unless another dispatch is in the offing.
