Kogalo still in pursuit of Mugalia

Gor Mahia are set to perform a major coup in the transfer market with the signing of Harambee Stars Congolese born striker Bob Mugalia.

But Mugalia will, however, have to sweat before he is released by Sofapaka who have placed a hefty Sh1 million price tag on him, which Gor may find too much to afford.

On Monday, Mugalia once again reiterated his desire to join the “green army” and told K’Ogalo faithful to be patient, he was on his way to the club.

“I want to play for Gor Mahia. I have requested to be allowed to play for the club and I have also asked Gor Mahia to write to Sofapaka requesting I be released to play for them,” said the player.

Gor Mahia secretary George Bwana confirmed Mugalia’s interest in joining the green army who are following up his transfer.

Mugalia who has been one of the key players for the 2009 champions has openly supported Gor Mahia, at one point appearing for the club’s game in a Gor Mahia jersey.

And while Gor chase Mugalia, they might lose burly striker Wycliffe Ochomo to Ulinzi Stars.

Ulinzi Stars have confirmed they are in talks with the player and the club with the hopes of signing him.

Ochomo, signed from relegated Congo United midway through the just ended season, played only four games for Gor Mahia, scoring on his debut against AFC Leopards in the 3-1 win in August.

But after that he only played three more games before getting injured and later being given leave to do his final secondary school examinations.

Nothing tangible

On Monday, Ulinzi Stars official Joel Birgen said Ochomo is the last of the players they want to sign after landing Amon Mwamburi and Rio Hassan from Congo United and Western Stima’s Kevin Amwayi.

“We are trying to push Gor Mahia into releasing Ochomo. They are still not willing to release him but we have time and we are sure we will get him,” said Birgen.

Gor Mahia secretary George Bwana confirmed Ulinzi Stars had placed a request for Ochomo but maintained nothing tangible had been reached.

“We have to work with the technical bench and know which player to let go and who we still need.

We will not be coerced into releasing players just like that and we will ensure we fight to keep our best players,” he said.

Bring in Mugalia, we need experience in our squad as we venture into the continent. The player wants to play for the Green Army.

Please don’t sell Ochomo to Ulinzi, someone needs to talk to these young players and tell them there’s no such thing as quick money. He’s got good talent and he’s one of our own.In any case, there’s lots of money to be made in Gor. We have not even seen half of Kogalo fans in the stadium yet! With continental football, gate collections will hit all time high and with prudent management, these players can get rich at Kogalo. Ulinzi just offers a job, who needs to be employed?! Make your own money at Kogalo through bonuses and a good salary.

On another note, bloggers, can we mobilise fans to contribute funds to sign players, just like we did for the bus? 3000 fans contributing Kes 1k each guarantees Kes 3M, that can sign and pay transfer bonuses to one or two quality players. Also, why don’t we escalate the signing of Kagere from APR Rwanda?

We need to stamp our authority in the continent next year as we go for the Champions League in 2013. Do you fancy Gor playing at the World Club Championships against Barcelona or Arsenal? Our destiny is in our hands. We can contribute for our beloved Green Army. Someone please take this up.

  • Sofapaka have asked for 10 million. Forget it, just wait for Mugalia to run out his contract at the end of 2012 then he’ll be a free agent and acquire him for free.

This Masika business is also starting to irritate. The guy was good, but not all that. Let him go to AFC if that’s where his heart is. Good players come a dime a dozen. Even in that tour of Nyanza, I’m sure we’ll get a player as good as Masika in that match against Suba United.

Good thought.i hope this kicks off.how do we know the official GM site and contact so that we are not ripped off by sending money to an individual.they can seek safcom and airtel sales dept to assist with a reliable code or unique number.elections to the GM office should not be about names but people who can put structure to generate revenue on and off the pitch e.g a course in professional football mngt plus a marketing course.these guys should have been vetted by professional recruiters eg.Manpower Services ltd.GM is no longer a village club to be left in the hands of those offering partime services as is currently.

I just Read on Michezoafrica.com that AFC players are getting a salary increament…Guyz The office and the fans Need to read between the linbes to this game really close…Ingwe are engaging US in a mind game so that they can creat a rebelion amoungst our players having them thinking they’re being exploited….AFC knows very well we’re their main Challengers for the Crown next Season and with that they want to demorolise our players so they dont give 100%…Guys EC needs to address the plight of our Players in Urgency since TUZO deal was just but a PR thing…It is Sad and This is humiliating…Even Sofapaka Thiano That Gor cant Afford to pay their Tag 10M for Mugalia….and That is Just Intentional to expose our weakness Financially…Gor will Overcome This…But we have to have Pre-emptive in our challenges,Lets Build Up a realationship with Insurance companies, approach them and use them to Insure our players while they sponsor Us,convince them how we can be of value to them…This is how we can win more players because of Benefits
On The Contribution Pod Antie Should actualise the Idea set up an account ,call for a Kamukunji and Lets Show Kenya What we can Do without sponsors and how passionate we can be,this will Expose Tuzo as a haux…

Pod Antie n other bloggers it is easier to engage the EC as a duly registered branch, thats why the idea of the bloggers branch was floated to implement all these brillant ideas(just check our archives). Perhaps this now is the chance/time to actualize the formation of the Bloggers Branch!

My last take: Dancan Owiti Macheda if given a Chance can be a greater revelation than spending a whooping 1m to buy Mugalia. My concern is that we are killing careers of potentialy and equally good talents like Macheda,Akumu,Kevin Omondi,Kip,Makori etc by spenind alot on players who are as average as what we have. some of the players we are hyping to buy are NOT exceptional. Macheda can be better than Mugalia if given a chance.

Fellow Gor Mahians i fortunately or otherwise share the same sentiments

    Now my take

As much as we may need to beef up our squad i don’t think any of these players being hyped are exceptional beginning from the goal keepers we are signing through to the midfielders and purported strikers we are talking about..to me we had a bad tech bench that
destroyed all the gains made in the three years of GM
    restart.

The new office could have just given fresh contracts, triple salary and allowances to the then existing players, you will not see much difference.

    Look at what we had..
    Jerry, Kagunzi, Gradus (GKs): Defence Mussa, Anguyo, C.Omondi, Wekesa,Awilo plus reserves:Mid. C. Okoth,M.30,Moses Dube,Tony,Akumu, Odongo, Wise,Kevin Ochieng’,Kevin Omondi,Tony,Roy Okal; Forwards:Dan Owiti,Ochomo,Kiplagat,Makori, Lavatsa.

I’ve left a few players in the list for being new projects i consider was designed to rid our valuable youngsters of their hard earned place in GM.

I strongly believe we only needed to see what we have in untested rookies in the camp and pick a few special talents upcountry for trials to fill the seven or six places making a full team of 30 Players.

For me the recruitment being done is of no special value!

consistency ni muhimu for a club to have good result lets learn from manchester united!!changing the team players after every season won,t bring much!all we need is two super players, a striker and and aggressive attacking midfilder and will be good to go!!and i think ur scouts are still oldskul minded walikua wapi jamaal akiwa bila club!!!we will pay full price for short sitedness and club politics in this 21st century and very soon sofapaka will be ruling the league looking at their professionalism in running the club
