Kevin Keegan: Son of Kogalo legend making waves with oval ball
Kevin Keegan, the son of the legendary Gor Mahia winger Sammy Onyango Jogoo was last weekend named the Most Valuable Player at the Masaku sevens held in Machakos this weekend. He led his team, Lunch Bar Harlequins to victory after beating Homeboyz RFC of Nairobi in the final.

“Last year I did not play since I was the Kenya Sevens camp, this year I came and I was named captain. I did not have any special plans but just to play my game and I am happy it bore fruit by being named the tournament’s MVP.” Keegan told michezoafrika.com
Ever since he appeared on the rugby scene 2 years ago, Keegan has proven himself an extremely capable rugby player. At the time his coach at Impala Innocent Simiyu described him as “An exciting playmaker just waiting to exhale”. Keegan is now on his way to fulfilling his potential. He has represented the Kenya national sevens team at various tournaments. In fifteen a side rugby, he is often slotted at full back and has excelled in the Kenya cup and Bamburi Super series.
He will be hard pressed to emulate the exploits of his father, one of the true legends of Gor Mahia and Kenya football.
whoever wrote this story, what do u expect us to comment.Does it mean that any son of K’ogalo legend even if he is a world class cook we should be told.I dont think that any son of a K’ogalo Legend even if he is not playing soccer should occupy space for fans to read & comment. .We only need to comment on soccer players and not anybody in the name of son of K’ogalo Legend.
Well done Keegan. Make people remember Sammy ! he gave Kogalo fans many good memories.
i am shocked by the negative attitude of one Michael odhiambo. it seems he does not know what onyango jogoo mean to us in kogallo. understand kogallo kapok idonje
.
I was also shocked at #1 Michae. Yaani some people think if they dont like something, it should never be posted. Bana speak for yourself. I was a big fan of Sammy and by extension his juniors.
Onyango Jogoo wore the #11 and was one of the few players at Gor together with Magongo who could play with both legs;left and right.Their family was a sports family even when they lived in SOUTH B.His dad(Onyango Jogoo’s) never grew Old;and his MUm(PAMELA) was his biggest supporter.Radio kwa maskio Gor ikicheza
I am shocked and amazed at one Micheal Odhiambos doltish attitude towards Onyango Jogoo’s son who had achieved something in rugby.I can recall in 1986 as a class seven pupil, to have attended a match at city stadium where we lost 3-2 to Efusi and Onyango Jogoo wept so hysterically after that match. Its because he had K’ogalo at heart.some of us have fond memories of Onyango jogoo.Gimoro ka ber ikete lwedo!
Congratz ma kampas fwend; miss u a lot alwz; thanx coz u make me proud!
There was nothing wrong with mentioning Sammy Onyango Jogoo in the story
