Bwana : Gor Mahia not to blame for violence

courtesy of the Nation

Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana has absolved the club from blame over the violence witnessed on Sunday after the team was held to a scoreless draw by Nairobi City Stars in Kenyan Premier League contest.

Bwana instead laid the blame on the home team and the Police Force for not “doing enough” to quell the chaos that ensued after the match.

“We should not be asked to take responsibility. We were not the home team. It is the work of the police to ensure that order and decorum is maintained throughout and after the match,” Bwana said.

Bwana said that he is liaising with the police to ensure that the goons who perpetrated the attack on him and vandalized the match venue are apprehended.

“I will not rest until these goons are arrested and charged in court. They are not our fans, but criminals out to spoil the club’s reputation.”

At the same time, Bwana said the club is yet to be served with a formal communiqué by the Sports Stadia and Management Board (SSMB) and that they will only respond after receiving a correspondence.

During the Sunday match, irate club fans unleashed violence that resulted to wanton destruction of property shortly after the match ended.

SSMB has, on the other hand, said they will slap the club with a fine of at least Sh2.1 million shillings to repair the damages done.

Meanwhile, the club has ordered striker Rama Salim to report to training on Wednesday morning following his return into the country.

“Rama is back in the country and he has to be in training tomorrow (today). For Sserunkuma we won’t release his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) unless his agent engages the club in formal negotiations.

    G. Bwana as Gor fans we can tell you that it’s our own fans who caused the destruction. You need to know that Gor as a club has all manner of fans:- bang smokers, pick pockets, those who cannot hurt a mosquito, those who just like the ambience of the gor games, those who just come to abuse other communities and personalities in their songs and deeds, those who come to preach their political stands, those who come with other malicious intentions etc etc. You need to sit with us in the terraces or the grass to know your people. How comes when we preached peace during the last game at City stars and had white scarfs signalling peace there were no skirmishes at Muthurwa. It;s not rocket science to conclude where the problem is. Some of us have been branded traitors, cowards, opposition (both soccer and political)moles for voicing our reservations about some of the things our fans say or do. By the way this is something the EC should championing thru the branches or former players or even club elders. Maybe we need a council of Elders to counsel our way-ward fans. The BIG problem is that these trouble makers are less than 100 for a club with thousands of fans.
On the issue of Rama and Danny the best thing as a club we can do is to accept and move on. Let’s give them our blessings since they gave their best when they could. Suing and refusing to accept some things is just draining the resources and messing the team phsyche. The truth is that since the league began we have used Danny sparingly and it’s important for him to make money while he still has the youth on his side.
For the real Kogalo fans let’s not give up on the team and continue our support. As we can see other teams also have their issues but the only difference is how they resolve theirs. At the Den Lucy has starte behaving like Loga and might soon do a disappearing act on them, at Tusker Cheche is on his way out to Saudi and the team has given him their blessing, at Sofa the coaching issue has come up. So let’s patch our differences and move on since we all know that the title is still ours to lose

What do we as K’galo fans want.In any case u dont like George Bwana, why should anyone bring his hate for Bwana to our beloved K’ogalo.Let us support the team instead of campaignig 4r other pple.we will not help the team by these unnecesary canpaigns. If u r a hooligan one day u will spend some time behind bars.ua frustration is not helping the team at all

  • 1.@Dan Orig. The reason Rama’s contract ends in Nov is bcoz thats when the league also ends. Its the right time 2 leave should he want 2.
2.The rule by TPL,FKF & clubs is that the home team handles security. So if its a bad rule why should GM suffer. I’ve noted that crowd trouble is there in both home & away matches. Its obvious that clubs are not competent. SO ITS TIME TPL,FKF & THE POLICE TOOK OVER THE SECURITY DOCKET.
    3. WE NEED TO FIND AN ORGANIZED WAY 4 FANS/BRANCHES 2 ENGAGE & EVEN IMPEACH EC

  • The fans who went on rampage at Kasarani were not complaining about officiating but on management of their club. They did not attack the opponent. They were after their own officials like Bwana. What has city stars to do with missing Gor players? If we go wrong somewhere let`t admit and this is the only way we can find a solution.Bwana admit he was approached by fans who wanted to know where certain Gor players were and this happened inside the stadium. This were our fans though I don`t support the destruction they did. There is better ways of raising our concern.

  • Mr Bwana, what woulf you have liked to seethe police do to stop your fans frombreaking seats? Shoot at them? or do you want City Stars to have one police officer for every fan at the stadia. Tell us EXACTLY what did City Stars not do to provide adequate security.

Bwana, are you really serious that these are not Gor fans? I wonder if the hit you took on Sunday has affected your thinking capacity.

@Admin. Not sure why you removed my contribution advocating for reasoning by all the members of the gor family. If we don’t accept that there is a problem somewhere how then are we going to solve it. U deny being sick then there is no way you are going to heal. Hata ukienda kwa mganga haina gani

  • bwana, they are not gor fans, what a joke. when they were being beaten by hawkers u said gor fans were being attacked and called for police help. when the crocs came for u all of a sudden they are goons. ur going thru’ the big man syndrom. but ur not alone. let me refer u to guys like you, but excuse kidogo coz they were not football admins but at least u relate. so pls ask mugabe, niayo, kadaffi et mobutu. the riot as said was not about officiating, the ‘goons’ as u said confronted you on rama and sserenkuma absence. gor has now ‘ordered’ rama back to training and is frantically trying to explain sserenkuma absence. so why are you responding to the ‘goons’ demands. my free advice, start educating these gor fans, goons or crocs the importance of peace… and not thru’ hankys coz they probably cannot read whats printed on them. but be carefull about passing pictures of ppl u do not like to the police… meanwhile just pay the fine. so they now have a way of making you pay. soon all ur money will be going for repairs. even kadafi never believed the ppl would go for him. him, he used the term rats… but u know all this already.

  • SPARE A THOUGHT AND A TEAR FOR THIS WOMAN & HER DAUGHTER- NEXT IT COULD BE YOUR MOTHER, YOUR WIFE OR YOUR DAUGHTER.
BB allow me to use this extract from your previous blog.

“One gang of intoxicated, stone wielding and vuvuzela blowing fans in K’Ogalo colours descended on unsuspecting decently dressed women walking on this road bordering Kamukunji Police station. In full view of the tense and scared Kenyans who had sought refuge at Kamukunji Police station following the Muthurwa fight, these youths proceeded to touch the women indecently on their bottoms or stroked the women’s bottoms with vuvuzelas while speaking dholuo. One woman was badly touched everywhere in the presence of a roughly 10-year-old girl who probably was her daughter. YOU CAN IMAGINE THE LOOK OF TERROR IN THE GIRL’S EYES AND HER MOTHER’S EMBARRASSMENT”

SO as you cry your bucket full of tears for Bwana, spare a tear for this WOMAN & HER DAUGTHER,
AR as you declare to the world that attacking a Gor official is serious offense, spare just a tiny bit of your anger for this WOMAN & HER DAUGHTER,
AR as you take off early from a match after being forewarned, remember NOBODY will forewarn this WOMAN & HER DAUGHTER,
Police, as you refuse to arrest or counter these ORGANIZED gangs (am sure if they were individuals peacefull fans/ citizens would have countered them) remember this WOMAN & HER DAUGTHER,
True fans please lets SUPPORT THIS WOMAN & HER DAUGHTER , ITS TIME WE HELD A HUGE DEMO (BOTH GOR & AFC) CONDEMNING INSECURITY DURING OR AFTER FOOTBALL MATCHES,CONDEMNING THE FACT THAT FOR 3 YEARS NOBODY HAS BEEN ARRESTED DESPITE THE TERRIBLE CRIMES AND EVEN DEATH CAUSED.
ALL THOSE IN FOOTBALL FRATERNITY NYAMWEYA, OGUDA, RACHIER, BWANA, THE POLICE PLEASE PLEASE PROTECT THIS WOMAN & HER DAUGTHER.

Sserenkuma: Gor Mahia has betrayed me

Following allegations by Gor Mahia officials that the club had not released Dan Sserenkuma to attend trials in Europe, the dimunitive Ugandan striker has hit back at them saying they betrayed him.

The obviously disappointed Sserenkuma continues to insist that his plan to travel abroad was well communicated to the club long before he jetted out of the country.

-For the past few days, in Armenia, I have been so unhappy and feel betrayed, wondering – what have I done wrong to deserve this? How can these two top people (Ambrose Rachierand George Bwana) in my club say that I sneaked out of the country? How can these two people say that I did not inform them of my travel to Armenia? How can they now deny that my agent did not inform them of my trials which they were happy to let me go and wished me all the best? lamented in a communique to futaa.com,

-Why would i sneak out of the country why I still have a one and half year contract with Gor Mahia and knowing fully that this could put me in trouble with my club and ruin my chances of playing for my country Uganda? Why cant these two people come out and tell the Gor Mahia fans the truth? Why put the blame on me and my agent? Please don’t do this to me – I have been loyal to Gor Mahia and will always remain loyal, but let the fans know the truth – they deserve to know the truth,

    The Truth

I feel so much pain in my heart, but I know that the Gor Mahia fans know the truth. When my agent had a deal for me to leave in January, we both approached our former coach and he informed me that even though he would not stand in the way of a players trial, he was under a lot of pressure to let me go at that time. He spoke with my agent and promised him that he will let me go in June when another opportunity comes. My agent advised me to stay and help my club in the intercontinental competition and promised to find me a club for trials in the next transfer window and kept to his words,

-Last week, my agent again informed me of another opportunity to go on trials in the Eastern European region. This time around, he again advised me to speak with the Gor Mahia Hierarchy which I did . They agreed that I should go and were happy for me and wished me the best of luck and my agent spoke to them too,

“I have been on trials here in Armenia in the last seven days and everything is going on well – the FC Banants coach is satisfied with my performance so far and the club is keen to sign me on loan. But I have been deeply hurt with the way I have been treated. I have been informed that myself and my agent might be reported to FIFA. How have we managed to arrive to this? I am really disappointed, he added in the communique.

Sserenkuma joined Gor Mahia in June 2012 from Nairobi City Stars.
