George Midenyo to join Gor Mahia

Former Tusker FC hit man George Midenyo Oguk  has been snapped up by Gor Mahia who beat AFC Leopards ,Mathare United  and other clubs in securing his services.

After a controversial release from Tusker Midenyo bought out his remaining one year contract at Tusker FC for an estimated Ksh 50,000 and this gave him the green light to move ahead with negotiations.

“Midenyo is a great asset to our striking force. Many clubs wanted to sign him up but we can now officially announce he is our player.”  Said Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana.

During the KPL 2011 first leg, Midenyo was a star for Tusker as his goal poaching skills kept the brewers on top.At one point he had a record of four goals in five matches but was unable to replicate this form during the  second leg.

Born in 1981, the experienced Midenyo joined Tusker early this year after a stint with Swedish clubs Mjallby and Husquvarna. Prior to that. he played for Norwergian club Raufoss. Midenyo is a product of Mathare Youth Sports Association.

Last year there were many good strikers but still the team could not score. The problem clearly was not lack of good striker. there were many good strikers. But if the system of play does not generate goal-scoring chances then the team will still be stuck with 25 goals out of 30 games. The issue of creating scoring chances must be addressed. BTW whats happening with Lavatsa ?

To Joe, i think the problem was the coach.

I think anaba changed our game wen he took over and we saw Kogalo score a number of goals. This is a gud acquisition. Midenyo tries to place his shots and he’ll definitely add a lot of intelligence to out striking. Just Kagere to round up our striking department.

I only ask why Midenyo?kwani there is no strikers in Kenya. This guy is 30yrs of age.why why why.

  • What about Victor Ali? We also need the depth and experience combined in the mid field that he can provide. He is also still young. At around 30 years I believe that’s when our local players hit their peak. Forget about the local stars who stagnate at 23 to 25 years. Those are the years you use to look for a contract in Europe but the real age you use it locally. So welcome home Midenyo and prove them all wrong by doing what you do best.

Gem kendgi @9,am not concerned about his age but how many goals/assist he had last year at Tusker and how will he assist us this season, for god sake this guy scored less than 6 goals against 25 matches that he played.arrum@10, i would prefer Kagere frm Rwanda.

Guys, you better be warned. Kogalo is just about to assemble its arsenal. i promise our competitors a good run for their money in the coming season.

The team were are putting in place is aware of the assignment. The pressure to perform is already building up. The green army is dusting off their vuvuzelas.

We cant wait for the first whistle to blow!

@Ja Ngere, Midenyo scored 6 years and this was good compared to our players. Also note that Midenyo was injured and therefore he did not feature on several games. Without injuries, he could have even hit back of the net more than 10 times.

Comparably Baraza of AFC Leopards, do you know his age. I think he is older than Midenyo. Baraza played for Nzoia Sugar in 1990s but he is still going strong.

Age is just a number. However, what is important is how you mix or blend the experience (Midenyo) with the sprouting talents (Lavasta) and this will take our team very far.

Point to note is that we have CAF Cup, KPL League, Super 8, FKL Cup etc and this is where our experienced players can help the emerging talents in order for Kogalo to progress to greater levels.

Correct version: No 15 (I meant 6 goals)

Ja Ngere, how old was Albert Roger Mila at the 1990 world cup? How old is Mike Baraza? The list is endless.
