Oliech faults KPL for decision

The Kenya striker says it was wrong for the premier body to order for a replay of the aborted tie and should have instead, awarded points to Gor Mahia
Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech has faulted Kenya Premier League over decision they took on the aborted league fixture involving Sony Sugar and Gor Mahia.
Oliech says it was wrong for KPL to order for a replay and should have awarded the match to Gor Mahia.
“The decision was not in line with any football rule. It is very clear who caused the abandonment and action should have been taken against them. KPL has set a very bad precedent because teams will now cause abandonments hoping that their matches can be replayed,” Oliech told Goal.
He said KPL has done a great job with the local league but their recent action can be viewed as retrogressive.
“Those days when teams could cause abandonments and get away with it are long gone and KPL should know better. We are in a new era of professionalism which provides for better ways to handle grievances.”
In ordering for the replay, the premier body argued that no team was responsible for the chaos that erupted in Awendo with the match tied at 2-2.
“In accordance to the Rules of Kenyan Football, Rule 3.4 on Responsibilities of clubs and Rule 3.7 on abandoned matches, the match reports exonerate both teams from causing the abandonment,” said a statement signed by KPL CEO Jack Oguda.
“However, the match reports do confirm that the players were ready to resume play but due to the collapsed perimeter fence which enabled so many spectators of both sides inside the playing area, posing serious security risk to the playing units, match officials and technical benches, the match officials resolved to call off the match.
“We therefore, order for a replay of the entire match to be played at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 starting at 3:00pm and KPL will take control of match arrangements.”
thanks Denoh, tell them.atleast that is a non-partisan and sobber voice.as an affiliate body of FKL which is a FIFA sanctioned body,Oguda and Okoth shoulf have known the rules better.or money changed hands somewhere?????remember this is Kenya.
My broda Oliech, you seem to not understand soccer rules. Soccer governing bodies use the match officials report to make decisions and not what pundits are saying in bars and radio stations. Reading this article, I suspect that you got your info from one of these social channels. The match report was clear and concise. Both teams were ready to resume play after the second goal when the perimeter wall fell and fans started trooping on to the field (I presume for their own safety). FIFA’s rules are very clear on this. A replay has to be ordered in such a case. By the way, there were 10,000 or so fans at the game. Does sony command such a following? AGAIIN, LOOK AT THE REF’S REPORT AND DONT LISTEN TO WHAT IS BEING SAID AT BARS AND RADIO STATIONS.
Its Doka the referee who claims there were 10,000 fans but then that’s an impossibility coz Tusker vs AFC which had similar charges 500 VIP & 200 terraces raised kshs.655,000 from 2,800 fans so the maximum number of fans at the game in Awendo could not have been more than 4,000 going by the kshs.742,000 raised.
10,000 fans means minimum kshs 2M gate collections.
My take Doka faked only the attendance (note difference. between 10k & 4k) but also the match report to the same incredible degree.
@Ingo you are drunk just like the match officials who forwaded the match reports. You think we don’t know what happened? The reffere and the match commissioner were parsuaded by the Sony officials to write a favourable report and received something. So they thought they could get away with it but Nyamweya was on high alert. Just wait @ingo and you will get the feedback.
Secondly the away team is not included in the security arrangements.
The home team decides the no. of tickets 2 print.
And I repeat the home team keeps 100% of the gate collections 2 cater 4 these costs most notably security.
Teams playing against GM (&AFC) will never have enough of their own fans so by being the home means the responsibility of controlling “fans” at their home games.
If u want GM & AFC 2 b responsible 4 their fans even in away matches then they r entitled 2 a % of collections.
@George Ochoro#4, The referee’s decision and match officials report is final. Not even the FIFA president can overturn it and certainly not Nyamwenya.
@ODUOR#5 . From reading the reports from the match officials, it is apparrent to me that what caused the fans to start trooping onto the field was the failed wall. How should Sony have prepared for this? Add more policemen? Does Gor and AFC put plans in place for a failed stadium wall for their home games?
@Ingo my friend, you are right the refferee’s decision is final but they are human beings and can make error. All the evidence are there on what exactly happenened. These match officials should stop kidding around, they will also face law.
Ingo,by reading your comments,it gives the impresion that you are a bitter man.Could this be as a result of Luc conceding the title race?.Take it easy bro,it’s jst football. You live to fight another season.
@ Ingolet i think ua probably the one who wrote the reports.
Ati the wall failed and you repeat twice. Maybe bloggers at your ingwe site may believe but at gormahia.net it won’t pass.
Hehehe FAILING WALLS, 10,000 FANS KWELI MUNA JARIBU BURE KABISA.
@#7 My friend Ochoro, yes refs are bound to error since they are human. However, the rules dont allow for the report or decision made on the field to be changed. The best that can be done is for the referee committee to use this incident as a training example for their refs for future games. Maji yakisha mwagika, hayawezi kuzoleka…….Maji yamesha mwagika hapa
@#8 and # 9, I will not respond to your comments. Please use facts and not just empty words
@Ingolet you state that from “your reading” of the reports the WALL F A I L E D. YOU REPEAT IT AGAIN. MY QUESTIONS TO ARE SIMPLE & DON’T RUN AWAY FROM THEM!
1.HOW DOES A WALL F A I L?
2.WHERE WAS THE F A I L E D WALL?
JUST LIKE YOU DOKA WROTE A WHOLE LOT OF RUBBISH BCOZ HE HAD BEEN COMPROMISED AND THATS NOTHING 2 B PROUD OF SPILLED MILK OR NOT.
JUST LIKE YOU DOKA MAYBE BE CHALLENGED ON THE RIDICULOUS ASPECTS OF THE “FINAL” REPORT.
@Oduor #11. I’m a Civil Engineer by profession and can say that a wall or a structure for that purpose can fail due to many reasons including but not limited to: 1) poor design and foundation issues. Security is not one of them
Mmm, a profession that no doubt requires one 2 b sober,attentive 2 detail,thorough & not have 2 be proded 2 answer questions.
Sadly you’ve not answered my second question?
My advise take time 2 know about the type of “wall” you are talking about & b OBJECTIVE since no design etc changed. BUT MONEY MOSTLY LIKELY “CHANGED” HANDS.
The “wall” didn’t “fail” by itself “Mr. Civil Engineer”.Its “failure” didn’t warrant stopping the match.Ever heard of a “human wall” & its purposes/composition
@13.. You do not understand the principle of engineering. If this wall was properly designed and constructed with the proper loads and Factor of Safety used. Then it shouldent be going down based on humas pushing on it. Asante
My fellow Gor Mahia followers why do you engage this Ingo man in endless, tasteless and senseless arguments tht from the onset will not produce a WINNER if thts wht you’re looking for. He is Efusi to the core and you’re Gor Mahia damu hence non will cede ground for them to be called losers. Let’s stop this argument if the Ingo man has refused to see logic in all your arguments. But I wnt to invite to share these few facts with Kogalo family.
1. The referee remains the final man only in active matches (duration of the match) he is officiating. The results of the match he has officiated remains binding only as far as there is no appeal and or when the evidences adduced in the appeal lacks credibility and has no basis to change the original results. I will explain with credible examples.
A) WCQ African Zone – Togo beats Cameroon 2-0 and this result is contested by Cameroon on the basis tht Togo fielded an illegible player. FIFA investigates this allegations and finds Togo guilty of fielding the alleged player hence overturns the original result and awards Cameroon the match. Cameroon has just qualified for the 3rd and last qualifications rounds courtesy of these 3 points.
B) WCQ- Ethiopia beats South Africa 2-1but eventually loses the match when South Africa appeals to FIFA because Ethiopia fielded an illegible player.
I hope these two examples will serve to show that when guilt is proven the results can be overturned or even a replay can be ordered. C)Egypt /Algeria match WCQ 2010. The Egyptians beat up Algerian fans during the match. Algeria appealed against the results, produced enough compelling evidences of bias and FIFA ordered for a replay in Sudan. Need I say!! I chose not to use Kenyan or Eastern Central Africa examples because our officiating is still littered with a lot of average and below average performances.
2. The truth of the matter is Ingo is still suffering and very bitter from having Been so close to Gor for 85 minutes. At 2-1, Efusi were closing on Gor Mahia at 34 points against Gor Mahia’s 40 points. Having eventually drawn tht match and lost to Tusker in the following match they find themselves 8 points adrift and Gor still has the SONY match to be awarded to them. Having told Wanga to famously pronounce “We Are on the overtaking lane” they have found themselves declining instead of improving. They have engaged the reverse gears. From being number 3 on the log to number 6 with no additional points is sad.
3) What the FKF chairman wants to come out from the referee and the match commissioner report is – (i) what prompted the crowd to invade the pitch (ii)having reported tht the players were ready to resume play, did the referee also mention tht the delays were caused by SONY players protestations against Gor’s 2nd goal? (iii) did the referee mention in his report tht the assistant referee was molested by SONY players and officials? If not, why? (iv) why did the referee prefer to report the offence of the said player and official and not the other players? (v) why did the referee not consider the aforementioned offences by the said official and player as reasons enough to cause the abandonment?
17-8-13 EPL week 1. Arsenal- Aston Villa. Referee Anthony Taylor’s performance is reviewed after the match and is found wanting. He is punished by among other being removed from the referee’s list for week 2 EPL matches. Whoever is responsible for our referees needs to be challenged by the below average performance posted by these men and women. How many wrong decisions are we going to watch and sweep under the carpet?
I rest my case.
Le Pastre. Compare apples to apples and not oranges.

Ingo – my prediction is this. Since Sony have now beaten Ulinzi and climbed away from the relegation ZONE Gor will now be awarded the THREE POINTS. Simple logic, the more the “replay” is postponed and the table standing re-enforces Gor as favorites to clinch the league, FKL will want to save her face and not set a precedent that will come to haunt them in the future
I say this because the THREE points will not advantage or Disadvantage either Sony, in their battle to survive relegation or Gor in their pursuit of the title.
INGO note that these points whether there is replay or not will go to Sony or Gor.
INGO – see this as pitch innovation and what I wonder most is that AFC Gor Match had 7600 fans and this one attracted 10,000?
What a old man can see while sitting down, a young man will not see even when they climb the tallest building/mountain in this world. To the nay Sayers, I m glad that I together with those who believed in our call for justice, we have been vindicated. Thank you lord for this victory.

Mr. Ingo, please do not bully gor fans simply because u r an engineer. Personally am a consultant surgeon. Umesikia! Gor mahia fans are made up of very big people in and outside Kenya. WE ARE VERSATILE. We are well read and versed with books and papers, starting from the chairman, Mr. Ambrose Rachier, who is an advocate, to the people who walk from Kibera to nyayo to watch K’OGALLO. WE DEMAND RESPECT
