Gor Mahia have been boosted by the return of their influential Cameroonian striker Baldwin Ngwa who had moved on to proffesional soccer in Tunisia at the beginning of last season. Ngwa’s return will be a welcome boost for Gor Mahia especially as they prepare to face Mozambique’s Ferriviarro in the CAF Confederations Cup next month.

“The return of Ngwa is very much welcome to the team because he is an added asset. He flew in this morning and is set to start training may be tomorrow. Today was just a familiarization tour of him getting to know the players and also accustoming himself to the team”, Gor Mahia secretary General George Bwana told Kenyanstar.

At the same time, Gor Mahia have sent their final list of players for the CAF Confederations Cup with a list of 32 names, leaving one slot for late registration.

“We have four foreigners in camp and we do not know whom of the four will impress the coach. We have left that single slot open just incase we get someone new in the team or one of those foreigners”, said Bwana.

The CAF list for Gor Mahia is as follows; (jersey numbers attatched)

Great to have Ngwa back. Give Felixihno a chance to replace Masika in defense alongside David Owino. Can’t wait for the season to begin.

@oluoch, Tonny Otieno ndio Ballotieno fyi. If the Naija guy is gud and further more he is a defender y not give him the number 4 slot? But let the technical bench decide on their own as they have the technical know how of the four foreigners they have and know where they can play well. for sure, mid is full and so is the striking force so the remaining slot should for a central defender……i am loyal. Baldwin Ngwa raundi hii Masika ana kibarua…..pena pap!

  • Baldwin Ngwa is always well-come at Gor Mahia. His work -rate is phenomenal, therefore this is an astute signing if completed. On to the team published. This is a fairly stable and experienced but not a balanced squad. The coaches have a gigantic job in their hands. This is easily three very good teams. Awono and his assistants must develop a team ethic where those that do not make the match-day squad stay happy. As per my analysis, the team is imbalanced as we are short of outright defenders unless Akumu, Okal and Fred Otieno are going to be played as defenders. The team is as follows: 3 Goalkeepers, 7 Defenders, 13 Mid-fielders and 9 strikers. That gives you a total of thirty two players. Therefore, we can clearly see that we lack numbers when it comes to the defense. The management MUST ensure that they recruit a defender for the vacant shirt no. 4. I believe that with proper technical development of the players’ skills, this team can go places. Over to you coach Awono and your team.

  • To support this number I hope we will not grumble if the gate charges are increased. It would be sad if the same people now asking for more players to be added to the list are the ones to cause mayhem when the gate charges are increased. Let’s remember that supporting GM this year will even be more expensive since all our opponents will want to cash-in on us

We must give the support needed but the issue of gate collections accountability must be checked..Even @ a minimum of kes 300 and with minimum 5000 fans we are assured of kes 1.5 m per game and with 15 home games we will be looking at a minimum 22.5m..let the office be clear in this line of management and we are set to go

Bro Dan i salute you for the observation..but i agree more with Chwad.

Its not always the unique part of the equation that makes the mathematics complex.Very few people complained when the fee was raised from 50 bob to 100 bob but remember the quality, security and accountability are also issues. We may end up sending away our loyal fans who happen to be on the lower bracket of economic life.

To me 10000 fans at 200 makes it 2M which gives 30m a season on tickets.

We could still cash in on other auxiliary income routes.

  • Pliz the bench, central defender preferably Flexinho..we can consider loaning some of our players for more playing time in other friendly clubs with Kogalo products e.g Agido’s City stars,Zeddy’s Sony and more, some to reserve team for second tier competitions, under 19.

  • WE HAVE 33 PLAYERS….THEY ALL CANT PLAT WITHIN A WEEK…SOME WILL KULA BENCH FOR OVER ONE MONTH UNLESS THERE ARE INJURIES ( GOD FORBID )…

BWANA CHAIRMAN, RACHIER, WHY CANT GOR DEVELOP A WORKING PARTNERSHIP WITH A FOREIGN CLUB WHERE BY WE CAN BE LOANING OUR PLAYERS AS PART OF THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND THEN THEY RETURN TO COVER FOR INJURIES, SUSPENSIONS E.T.C …A GOOD EXAMPLE IN AFRICA IS AJAX CAPE TOWN AND AJAX AMSTERDAM.
MANY YEARS AGO THERE WAS A RUMOUR OG GOR MAHIA TEAMING UP WITH CELTICS BUT I NEVER MATERIALISED….I SUGGEST THIS IS THE TIME TO START THIS BWANA CHAIRMAN…OVER TO YOU !!!
