Gor Mahia in parliament

Standard Media Group hosted 2013 Kenyan Premier League champions – Gor Mahia on Thursday mid-morning at The Standard headquarters – Mombasa road.
Treated to what can be termed as ‘English breakfast’, the entire team plus the technical bench enjoyed their short stay at The Standard premises just after their early morning training session at City stadium.
Receiving the champions, The Standard and Game Yetu editor Robin Toskin said it was a pleasure to have the team for photo session.
“They are champions and indeed it’s a great pleasure to invite them for even a glass of water because at a time like this, everyone would love to have a moment with them,” said Toskin.
“Besides, it gives them a chance to have souvenir photos for their albums,” he added.

Standard Group is known for its commitment to develop Kenyan Premier League and local sports in general through its unrivalled coverage.
Gor Mahia players left The Standard premises for Parliament building where Homabay County Hon Gladys Wanga booked an appointment for the National Assembly Speaker to receive the Champions in his office for honourable lunch. The team have since been invited to the Tusker project fame show, hosted by Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, visited by former prime minister Raila Odinga, entertained at Hotel Intercontinental by Gor Semelango and treated to a luncheon by Kisumu Central members of parliament at Lavington.
Machakos County governor Dr Alfred Mutua is also to host the 13-time KPL champions on a date yet to be confirmed.
Game Yetu understands Gor Mahia could be hosted at the State House and Tuzo soon. Other than the trophy and the prize money they won, those are the benefits that come with being a champion and more are expected.
M y only worry is one.when are these players training or the gor mahia officals has turned this trophy to be abussiness comodity?yesterday they were with kidero, today they are in parliement on monday i also saw them somwhere in town i dont know the person they were waitng for.My advice to them is the celebration was over long time ago and they should concentrate on playing soccer not carrying trophy like ababy searcing for money in town.our game with afc is just one week away while players are still celebrating and partying. This is why they played trush in our game with kcb and they were taught a lesson, what they should know that if they joke the way they are doing and we are defeated by afc we wont take it lightly. The honey moon was over long time ago even us fans we celebrated and know we back in the offices working so take care.To the gor mahia officials who knows very well that they will be sent parking in December and want to search for money with players and the trophy you have to know that it is not the first time gor mahia has won this trophy ,so give the players the right directions.players are not parliamentarians to go to parliament or primary school kids to see the parliament sessions.NB afc is thoroughly training to disaprove you with that championship so all our eyes are on you as kogalo funs and we wont accept any under performance by players just because of over celebrating.Honey moon is over get back to work final…any other thing is after our game with afc.
Oluoch be reasonable after the storm there must be some calm…..let them enjoy some money.
That is the only way they will understand the fringe benefits that come with success…i.e. when you are successful all want to be associated with you and that puts money in their pockets and remember KOGALO is Kenya’s GLAMOUR TEAM and i love it that way GORMAHIA is sexy…… people marry for the love of it others die other become crazy yeah……that is what we call passion.Ingwe will come on the 16th yes but it has been an 18 year drought can you remember Joseph Asembo was the Gor Mahia goal keeper and Josiah Ougo was in the heart of defense and the stadia were empty for them yet they did their best? Let the boys get to understand what success means….. as for losing to ingwe, in football there are three kinds of result lose win or draw if you cant accept those three options then don’t involve your self with any competitive sport because you could be a problem to the team you love as you may end up being extremist and do a lot of damage ….i know they will win, if they lose it will be too bad but we have the league trophy already don’t put too much pressure on the boys and don’t throw stones….. am scared of your tone for they have made me proud i believe they will keep some tactical discipline to hit ingwe so relax and be happy.
Oluoch bed mos ..let us enjoy kiasii.
Y is the bloated EC allowing the players 2 behave as if the season is over.
Is it? Is it?
GM has only won the more prestigious of the 2 major tournaments & its has gotten 2 their heads.
Furthermore more the players r merely being feted left right & center yet apart from the crucial GorTv final,EC has not provided players with a medical cover, pension/provident benefit etc. The bloggers supporting the celebrations most r the same hypocrites who lament loudest the “misfortunes” of likes of Awilo.
Oluoch is right. Kuweni serious wajamaa. AFC will humiliate us if we are not careful. Sasa mambo ya parading Okombe iishe. And let the team focus on the big derby.
If you read this article properly you will learn that the players went to standard and parliament after the morning training session. Do we imagine that since we work for 8 – 12 hours a day then the players train for the same hours. After a few matches into the season the physical fitness is usually replaced by ball work and tactics. So please let the players enjoy and know that our game with AFC is a 50-50 game that we can lose even if we train 24-7. What matters in that game will be the mental-preparedness of each team. By the way we can still party and win the game. Let’s no be the know-it-all type. After all we have a professional coach who knows what’s good for the team. Assuming these players were not being feted, maybe they would either be at their usual maskans doing what they do best or even lamenting on how the gor fraternity does not appreciate their achievement. Do we want to treat them like we treated Austin and the team of ’87?
On officials let’s appreciate what they have done. Without some of their good decisions we would not be in the position we are in currently
@DAN do you expect players to train throughout the day?NOOO…May be you are not working within the CBD .gor mahia officals have turned this trophy and the players a business commodity,They walk left right and center collecting cash from people, and i repeat that should stop the honey moon is over and i will not shy off,it is not the first time for gor to win the kpl trophy, this is the thirteenth one so let them sober up and do the necessary. The AFC game is the game we value most even more than that trophy know and i repeat it again we wont take it lightly if they play without a purpose the way they did with kcb.
I disagree with you Oluoch, I dont like your comments, you are not a player and you have no right to threaten anyone. While it is true that the GO TV final match is crucial, you must also remember that the world should not stop becoz we are going to play AFC.
The players have done a great job by winning the league, something that has evaded us for 18 years and that calls for some publicity. You may not like it, they may not come to your office but they need to enjoy themselves with the trophy after their daily practice. What do you mean by “you wont take it lightly, you and who?
Everyone please calm down and stop sniping at each other. Remember we are all here to support the club and move the club forward in unison. So don’t let your emotions get the best of you.
how many hours do the players train per day?wat they do after training is none of our business. Its better they visit parliament than visit sabina joy
gor was beaten by KCB 2 0. does this mean they were not training? we will only tell after the AFC match wether these celebrations have gotten into the EC’s head. as much as it is not bad to celebrate, it is a fact that the kcb loss exposed what damage these celebrations can do to gor.
Thanks to admin, lets tone down but each one of you has made his/her point. The thing is celebrate with a limit. On Mr Oluoch’s comments about collecting money, let them collect, there is nothing wrong with being rewarded by whoever wants to for such a momentous achievement. Of course you do not mean that the EC is receiving those rewards for themselves, I believe they will be properly directed towards the benefit of the team.
A time to rest and refresh, let them celebrate and hosted by anyone. No harm caused guys
EC arrange 4 our heroes 2:
1. Visit the Nairobi Stock exchange
2. Gor Semelango how about training these players on business, saving & educational opportunities etc that they can pursue together with their soccer careers.
Lets try avoid Awilo cases with this lot.
Admin I have not seen anything 2 warrant your intervention but u 2 have an opinion. Let people, admin included, air views thats how innovative practical ideas r generated even if not implemented.
Btw is S.Joy frequented by goats or pple?
MERRY , MERRY AND MERRY , YOU ARE THE CHAMPIONS !!!!!! LET THE PLAYERS ENJOY THE FRUITS OF THEIR HARD LABOUR…AFTER ALL THEY HAVE QUALIFIFIED FOR CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT YEAR SO WHAT VALUE IS GOTV GOING TO ADD ? WACHIA ‘MASHEMEJI’ PIA WAJI -ENJOY.
BREAKING NEWS….AZAM FC HAS JUST FIRED THEIR COACH !!!!!!! GUESS WHO IS ON THE LINE TO BE THE NEXT COACH OF AZAM FC…SIR BOBBY
@Jakoyo Kwani BW is a commodity like fish in the market? Isn’t that the same coach who was in Sofapaka and just the other day. By the way it tels you alot about Simba, Azam and Yanga. They believe that coaches come and go. You lose the derby and you are fired
Oluoch Players have been traininig more than usual and the programes they hv been going through has not chewed in their training schedules whatsoever.
Guys we all own Gor mahia and come next elections we want to hear a 360 reasoning to change the clubs revenue and cubbing the filth called whooliganism.
There is no domestic trophy that is more important than KPL. We already have it. We can now take it easy. The remaining matches are important but not crucial. If I were BW and JBO, I would settle for a line-up like this: 1.Joel Bataro, 2.David Otieno, 3.Chris Wekesa, 4.Ivan Anguyo, 5.Donald Mosoti, 6.Teddy Akumu, 7.Angello Okumu, 8.Moses Odhiambo, 9.Paul Odhiambo, 10.Mungai Kiongera, 11.Innocent Mutiso. Try out these boys who have not had a lot of playing time. Otherwise let the celebrations continue. We have not been celebrated for 18 years yet we continued losing matches. This will not be the first lose anyway.
For God and my beloved club – Kogallo
Ooh Laa la..” IT’S CELEBRATION TIME UNTIL JAN 2014″
For Gor Mahia the TPL 2013 was over the moment they were declared champs with 3 games to go and so let the boys and officials celebrate without any interference from anybody. Whoever feels sulked by the celebration should hang himself or rather defect to any local team since after all you will just be equated a drop of water in the wider ocean.
You are the same hooligans who denied the players a well planned celebration by invading the pitch unceremoniously. Playing Ulinzi is not a must win match for K’ogalo since it will just be a formality, but celebrating the TROPHY with NAKURU fans and enjoying themselves is more important after 18 years.
It is not a must the we win GoTv cup to participate in continental tournament. After all Gor does not need to train so hard to be AFC. That is derby which I believe we shall win by applying the best strategy in handling the game.
LET US ALL CELEBRATE AND RELAX. THE SEASON IS OVER.
one thing i might add about these celebrations is that it shows gor has alot of goodwill on it’s path. if i remember when tusker won this league last yr none of these things happened, and whatever happened was too low key. this just tells how much kenyans would like this club to succeed. i hope the players are seeing where the future of soccer is. the only club that can probably match this is leopards. ur going to east and central… grab this with both hands and u will prosper. avoid the rush to middle east arab lands… if you have to go arab then aim for egypt, tunisia or morocco. on new recruits, if gor can grab kahata it would be good, jimmy bageya of nairobi city stars is equally intelligent player… these are mere suggestions. do not take players simply that they scored against gor .whatever happens i hope gor can grab one attacking midfield maestro…for a striker i would also talk to kanghati of afc leoprads. and pls pls pls avoid show-off players.
How does Robin Toskin reconcile his comments herein with those he posted in a section of the social media a fortnight ago when Gor Mahia was proclaimed Champions? Then he felt that “Giniwasekawo” should actually be “Giniwasekwalo”? Has he had a change of heart so as to invite his purported ‘thieves’ for breakfast or was the breakfast part of the Efusi’s unorthodox schemes of winning matches these days? Was the breakfast the Efusi doctor’s (witch) prescription? How sincere is he with his latest comments? I am only holding him accountable for his unethical post in the social media. I don’t think Mike Okinyi would post anything near that about Efusi. I hope Robin Toskin will wake up to the realization that as media personalities they are well known and regarded as celebrities to the sports world hence have very limited room for such biased comments.
Now that most bloggers are for the celebrations, what is the next stop after Tusker Project Fame? I suggest they should fly to Ghana to present the trophy to Eblazing Diva’s uncles then to South Africa to pay homage to Baba Madiba then finally to USA, to Mama Michelle Obama before they wind up in Mbololo, Tausa, Nyache and finally Kanyamwa.
One’s got to love this debate.Without wanting to dilute what’s been said either by the proponents and opponents of overcelebration(if ever there is a word like that in English),let me pose this question:Would it not have been better even sweeter if we paraded all the trophies at the end of the season.I remember when Man U won the treble in ’99,and chose to celebrate, atop of the open bus were the FA,EPL and the UCL trophies. With one more final to be played,am afraid we are placing the cart before the horse yawa.
Baba Travis, champions always need to conserve and protect their invincibility. Champions need to remain indomitable. Who will fear the champion who gets smothered by every other team they face soon after achieving the championship? I would donate a bull to slaughter for the boys were they to beat Efusi and parade the two trophies soon after that GorTV final. Interestingly our comrades on the side of the debate have become very emotional and resorted to name-calling and mudslinging.
@ Oluoch are you sure that GOR players and officials have been spotted in the streets of CBD with TPL trophy begging for money from well wishers. This guys only visit places where they have been invited with a very good reason. And this is done after morning training training session and with the blessing of the EC and TB.
SURELY WINNING TPL 2013 AFTER 18YEARS IS CELEBRATING FOR K’OGALO.
Suppose they win GoTv Shield will our hooligans allow them to celebrate? The answer is a big NO. The only way they can celebrate is when the hooligans are busy dealing with their daily life commitment while they are free to move without fear factor attributed to GOR MAHIA hooligans. Let them celebrate and as for GoTv it is a trophy we have won for the last two years consecutively, personally I will not put GOR players under pressure to win
the trophy , but they must understand that our “Bragging rights will be at stake” if they do
not deliver the trophy.
We have won the league and we must celebrate to the fullest. If we cant then why did we srtive so hard to lift the cup. We have to celebrate and brag for one full year wapende ama wasipende.
ODUOR12 YOU HAVE TO BE CRITISING CONSTRUCTIVELY OTHERWISE YOU AND YOUR LEGENDS ARE GOING NOWHERE. THE BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR IS THE CUP AND WE CREDIT THE AR AND HIS TEAM WHETHER THEY ARE BLOATED OR NOT.
YOU ARE NOW TELLING US NOT TO CELEBRATE THE WAY JUBILEE IS MUZZLING THE PRESS. IF THESE ARE YOUR TACTICS THEN AM GOING TO VOTE IN THE ENTIRE CURRENT EC.
WE WILL NOT STOP TO CELEBRATE EVEN IF WE LOSE TO AFC. IF ANYTHING WE HAVE THE CUP TWO YEARS KWA MPIGO. VIVA GOR MAHIA AND AMBROSE RACHIER.
If we must loose a game then let it be a gainst ulinzi but NOT against ingwe. Yes we are champions and we must play like champions.
We do not want to hear excuses after a poor display, ” ati mara ilikuwa ilikuwa…….. sijui hakukua na matayarisho mwafaka .” We dont want to hear that and i believe this is not the only trophy we wanted to win.
@Abu Kassim let us just engage constructively and debate this matter objectively. There is no need to get so emotional and so personal with Oduor12.
Gor Mahia players should go beyond Nairobi County when cellebrating but to cut across the whole country Kenya to show them what they have achieved as the champs. It is not very easy OMERA to be the champ after 18yrs Bwana.
it is celebration time wether pepni or ndekni we are the champions we have traveled far and wide to lift the trophy so why shuoldnt we showoff madimoni tuko na antidote yao watajuaje we come from nyanza republic where we say pesa otas
