Mapunda puts Gor Mahia on notice
courtesy of futaa.com
Gor Mahia’s Tanzanian international keeper Ivo Mapunda has stated that he is ready to quit the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions if talks for a contract extension are not initiated.
The keeper’s current deal runs out on Monday 16 December and he has not had contact from the club as far as contract extension is concerned and he says if that doesn’t happen by the date his deal runs out he will be willing to talk to other clubs for a possible move.
No talks yet
-My contract with the club expires in about two weeks – on 16th of December and the club management has not initiated talks for an extension so I am just waiting. I might say I want to stay yet they have other plans.
-If nothing happens by that time I will be open for talks with any other willing club for a possible move, he told futaa.com.
Mapunda has been key in Gor Mahia even as he played second fiddle to Kenyan international Jerim Onyango at the KPL champs.
Gor Mahia / Sadili to hold 3 day camp
Meanwhile
The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia in conjunction with the Sadili Oval will hold a three day talent search camp in Lang’ata as from Thursday 5 – Saturday 7 December.
The two parties recently signed a partnership that will see Sadili have a feeder program for the KPL champions and for a start children within the ages of 9 – 15 have been invited to apply to be considered for the Sadili Africa Talent Training Academy.
Select team
To take part in the three day camp, the children have been asked to carry along their birth certificates and a passport size photo.
A select team of Sadili and Gor Mahia coaches will conduct the training.
LET MAPUNDA GO AND BUY KASAYA BECAUSE AT CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS HE WILL ASK FOR A VERY BIG SALARY.
Blogger@1…would kasaya be willing to rejoin Gor and play 2nd fiddle to Jerry….the incident in the GoTv game notwithstanding..!?
Someone might say, see I told you you, this is a sleeping office! Only one week and they are not negotiating anything with Mapunda ,a key player as we approach the continentals. Is that not opening Mr Mapunda to bids from other teams and can he resist. Wake up EC and TB, talk even if it is campaign time. We are on 5th December, the transfer window is short for you since the deadline for submission of names to CAF is in less than two weeks.
Kenya is full of goalkeeping talent !!!!!! Omera Mapunda is almost bordering 40 years, He has been around for some time and he can only depreciate. Let him go , he has served as very very well and I think Tusker FC also has some good replacements !!!!!!!
we will miss your heroics mapunda.
You wonder then how the current office holders are jostling to be re elected if the basics can not be covered. Really who then has the club’s interest at heart if everything has now been left to the mercy of mother nature?
Anyway it doesn’t surprise me at all going by some comments above. Really how do we tell Ivo to go and be replaced by Kasaya…rightly put some players appear good but again looking at their records you get put off! From red berrets-Bandari relegation through to Sony and i see nothing. For me i wonder how he makes his way to HS.
Again you talk of revamping the squad at the same time chasing dependable players to go? What do we actually mean here or is everything at GM emotional including technical issues like player engagements! Its simply not serious of us. Remember it may not just be Ivo whose contract is ending.
There is too much empty pride around GM, if we don’t tone down and change we will be crying for the rest of our involvement in this club.
Kassim, thank you for this. There are definitely other contracts running out and people are just sitting there with a lot of emptiness. Then we will be caught up with time having gone, as if we did not know. Am seeing that Efusi management to me appears to be more focused and you will see them landing the best players around while ours is mere talk and chest thumping.
AFC needs a keeper . . . . .
I hope we retain Mapunda. Whoever knows about football will know that keepers get better with time. I believe AR will do something and retain the keeper and other good players whose contracts are ending. To play continental matches you need more experience than youth. See the Al Ahly and TP Mazembe squads. They are full of battle-hardened players. At Gor the only experienced players are Jerry and Mapunda and even these pale in comparison with Ingwe which has Pinches, Baraza and Wanga in their midst.
Our EC has to ensure that they can campaign and operate the office at the same time. Lots of teams have identified potential players in Gor and they can easily be poached. Such players like Daddy, Danny, Akumu, Owino, Kiongera, Musa, Ivo etc are actually targets of other clubs, locally, regionally and internationally
My hope is that something positive is happening behind the scenes in terms of player recruitment and preparations for the coming season.
Let us not drag our feet on those 2 important issues like we did last year….results of which were extremely disastrous!!!
The issue is not that Ivo can/shouldn’t go!
Rather it is apparent GM still has no proper adminstrative structures with 6 years of AR’s reign.
GM elections r always retrogressive so I humbly suggest that members urgently restructure GM’s EC into a lean board whereby directorship positions come 4 grabs/elections on a rotational basis.
2nd we nid a competent full time secretariat 2 handle the day 2 day tasks e.g renewal contracts etc.
I think its time AR restructured GM or he should step down.
This guy is the one keeping jery on toes, jery is very stupid and mistake prone without competition, mapunda must be retained and again jery is cheap and can compromise team very easily,so mapunda must come back.
@Oluoch, please mind your language. Calling people stupid and cheap is very demeaning. With that type of language you could lose both the ‘cheap’ and ‘stupid’. Thank God you are not in a leadership position. Or so I assume.
Now that Ingwe has snatched Musa Mudde we need to look elsewhere. Will Sofapaka also snatch Walusimbi and we remain without a major signing? The consolation is that the few players we sign end up bringing the quality needed.
Is the elections clouding our vision for recruitment?
@Dan don’t always pretend to be mr clean in your comments, you are neither here nor there you have to take side at times,i have spoken out my mind and am not regretting of saying that ,afadhali mapunda kuliko jerry.
By calling players stupid and cheap that’s what you call taking sides. Think again what such comments would mean if directed to you. Players have feelings and are not machines to be switched on and off
Retain mapunda we are playing in africa we need experience guys, fungua macho panua masikio funga mdomo halafu tafakari kwanza halafu ongea.
MAPUNDA AND MOSOTI HAS BEEN SIGNED BY SIMBA OF TZ, KASAYA HAS BEEN SIGNED BY FC LEOPARDS…
