Gor Mahia to hold elections meeting on Tuesday

Gor Mahia will be holding a consultative meeting on Tuesday aimed at mapping out modalities for the club’s elections scheduled for December 15th.

The meeting which will be held at the club’s secretariat will bring together the club’s leadership, aspiring candidates and leaders of the braches.

The club’s senior vice chairman David Kiilo told Nation Sport that the meeting will be a “storming session” where the various parties are expected to reach an amicable settlement on the way forward regarding the forthcoming polls.

ELECTION RULES

One of the issues topping the agenda is the applicant’s nomination fee. There is also a possibility that the gathering could postpone the date of the polls in order to provide time to put in place the requisite measures for a successful poll.

“We had a meeting yesterday (Sunday) where we explored on the election rules and what needs to be done. We just wanted to know if all the parameters have been met for the elections,” said Kiilo.

Regarding the actual election date, Kiilo who is defending his seat said that though others have floated the idea of pushing the polls forward, it just remains a suggestion as “nothing tangible has been agreed upon”.

“Tomorrow (Tuesday) we will be exploring on a number of issues so that we come up with a common stand. We do not want case we hold sham polls. We want it to be well organized and the results acceptable to everyone.

“There is no vacuum in leadership in Gor so there is no hurry, but nothing tangible has been discussed.”

Initially the club had settled on a Sh200,000 nomination fee for those contesting the chairman’s position but this proposal has been opposed by other parties.

Incumbent chairman Ambrose Rachier who also doubles up as the new Kenyan Premier League chairman will be defending his seat for a record fourth time.

Rachier is facing opposition from advocates Eric Adede and Henry Okwiri. Kiilo who is second in command to Rachier on the other hand will have to contend with competition from Erick Wasuna.

Meanwhile the club has insisted that star shot-stopper Ivo Mapunda whose contract expires on December 31st will not leave the club.

“There is no way we will let him (Ivo) go. We need him for next season,” said Kiilo.

  • what is kiilo defending?
doesn’t this guy have a conscience he adds no value to the club…kiilo please go home or contest for another relevant seat all those vice chairmen seats must be scrapped you create confusion and eat into the club’s resources we don’t need you and most of that EC. Create only the relevant electable positions as i expect the new office to have a CEO ,a finance manager ,a human resource and administration manager maybe also doubling up as a public relations officer to speak on behalf of the club as a spokesperson and not kiilo or bwana and we expect Pricewaterhouse Coopers to source for this people strictly professionals who have to create their salaries by managing the gate collections and not the elected leaders to run the club so guys this is the time to decide where the club goes. You can only get different results if you do things differently status quo must go ,there is no other way.

My vote will be Ambrose Rachier and Wasunna for Senior Vice Chair. I have not made up mind on the Secretary General but I will vote for anyone that will stand against George Bwana, Ngala, Kilo, Ominde, Nyandega, Faiz, Oj, Roselinder, etc.

I am just repeating my earlier clarion that this entire office apart from Rachier should be send home packing due to their ineptness and looting the club with pre-printed tickets. Kilo fought the club with opponents leaking crucial information on how the club can be beaten. Kilo did this with Tusker when then Matano and Tusker team officials paid him little money to betray the club course. These are not the kind of officials we need at the club. We need officials that will stand with the club despite the challenges the club will be facing.

  • Agreed Jakoyo. It is so unfortunate that this clone called kiilo still want to push it further. It is so dissapointing to even think of recruitment with the current crop of office. Ngala, kiilo and the lady who was to double as a marketing and brand manager with all the vices should go to hell.
Who is going and who is being recruited????

  • Kindly lets keep calm. Reliable sources indicates that we Gor has already recruited and are still following some players but they don’t want to come open to avoid competition form other greedy teams like afc who are waiting to see who Gor mahia wants so they also submit their interest. I talked to the Head coach personally yesterday.

Election is not war nor is it enmity and this is why I will still implore Dr. Eric Adede to be proactive and join ranks with the current chairman. Let us put the club first. Eric Adede is a very big asset to Gor Mahia just like Ambrose Rachier is. A stronger Gor Mahia needs both and everyone else pulling in one direction. At this time when we are mourning Madiba, the best send off we as Gor Mahia family should give the great father of the world is an embrace of his policy of politics of “inclusivity” where everyone is a winner and no one is a loser.

I also urge mr. Adede to join ranks with the current chairman. I see great leadership credentials in the two individuals. Please mr. Adede accept to deputise mr. Rachier.
We only need one vice chair. Please members help us to say a big NO to a bloated EC.
On recruitment, i hope the TB is being facilitated to do its job.
    Thanks members and be blessed.

I think its time GM promoted structures and drifted away from individuals.

We would do well having an era of fans and income generation becoming more of assets than making small gods out of people. Who will lead GM people into this era is the examination GM has ever failed since its formation.

This reminds me of the days of KANU ni Baba na Mama when the incumbent could ‘search around the whole Kenya and fail to see anyone qualified to be President’.

It saddens to see people come to pay gate fees and the entire leadership remains clueless as to how to harvest this ripe fruit. Since we cannot be all leaders at the club at the same time i dare ask:

-Who is responsible for institutionalizing operations
    at the club?
-Who really are GM members? And how do people become so?
-Who is charged with the responsibility of guiding the club into any changes or development?
-As much as the EC is bloated, are there not functions bestowed in each position, and therefore who is responsible for what?
-Sam Nyamweya recently suspended people he deemed not committed to his manifesto, is it impossible at GM?

I take this opportunity to refer to the previous topic briefly to castigate those who believe in calling players names that we have gone down that road before and it didn’t help us, infact so many problems we have today are as a result of those misdirected emotions.

I think this is not the right time for election even though the constitution states so.This can affect the performance of the club cause other clubs are busy recruiting their next season players and we are still fighting for power.
