Heavy downpour causes match postponment

The highly anticipated Africa champions league second leg match between Gor Mahia and Esperance De Tunis was on Sunday called off due to heavy downpour that rendered the pitch unplayable.

The match had initially been delayed for 30 minutes as the teams waited in the dressing room. By kickoff time, the pitch was still semi-usable.

But the unrelenting rain continued forcing the match officials to postpone the game by one day.

@ Jack Omollo it is the match officials who called off the match and not Jo NDHIWA .
Esperance played and won against GOR in Nairobi, but now it is up to them to deal with MAHIA. The rain was a blessing in disguise to Esperance. Tomorrow is another D-DAY?

Whether it is torrential rain, floods , remote control ,abnormal, super natural or whatever it is? The bottom line is that this match must come to a logical conclusion at Stade de Rades.

@Jack Omollo & the Trailer , I also had the feeling that Esperance had the confidence to deal with both GOR and MAHIA, but the happenings just confirms that “MAHIA” will subdue “Tarija ” in Tunis.
Our own whistle blower famously known as The Bandit wants (5-0) , but our projections and prediction ends with (2-0) in favor of “Wuon Timbe”. It is all system GO 2morrow.

I don’t think the EC is necessary lest they turn this noble idea into another Luo Thrift & Trading Co. or Kisumu Molasses Co.Ltd saga.
The Akorino have launched the Goodlife Sacco, our Muslim brothers have their own sacco.
    What’s holding us back?
The sacco idea if handled well would put mighty Gor Mahia on a very sound financial footing.

Did you ever manage to meet AR regarding this idea?
Wish this we can get over this Esperance issue (whichever way it goes) so that we concentrate on the league, GoTv, & Cecafa. The top 8 we should leave for the 2nd eleven so that they gain experience and avoid another Jerry “situation”.

Are our boys aware of the laser lights the Tunisian fans always shine on the opposing teams? I saw them doing thid to TP Mazembe and many visiting teams to North Africa. Let it not be a shock to them.
Meanwhile let the boys enjoy the ambience in Tunis but avoid the belly-dancing joints till after the game. The thing is now to work hard so that those things become the norm.
Otherwiae best of wishes and as fans we are erady to accept any results. Pick the experiences from such trips and use them to your advantage.
Meanwhile I hope someone in the EC can ask the Tusker game to be postponed so that they aew not caught napping as usual

@ omondi worry not, there is something in the pipeline we are just waiting for the TUZO contract to be over and then we launch another one believe me brother this is from reliable source.we have even sponsors who want to buy for us anew bus,but the problem with gor mahia is lack of accountability, even tuzo never wanted to withdraw and they asked for the money they have been pumping in the club to be accounted for, but the officials were just dilly dallying. In gor mahia if you want bring transparency you are the one who is sabotaged or sacrificed,Did you know that the issue of ticketing that was brought by our new treasurer and secretary general brought some conflict in the office until the officials voted. And in this case i will not fear mentioning names.our old guards who were elected back into the office in the name of Ngala,Jack orowe,David kiilo and okuku voted against it.The question is why were they voting against this system …?it is simple they used to sell fake tickets that was going to be blocked by this system and this controversies led to the tickets being withdrawn from diamond trust bank and being handed over to wells fargo on the last day and you saw what happened on the ESPERANCE match…fake tickets were everywhere.
Bloggers sponsors can be willing to support gor mahia but our officials especially the ones who has been in the office are not ready for change in this great club.It is high time we bring pressure in this office to put aside these guys who were re-elected in this office to step aside since their intention is just to sway the new elected officials into their corrupt deeds.

Jakababa,if what you are saying is true then I dont see why these officials are in office! We should pressurise them to leave for I believe there are people out there who can serve Gor whole heartedly. Corruption should not be tolerated at all,at all! The four gentlemen you have mentioned have no business running the club for they do not have the club at heart!A Revolution is what will bring change at Kogalo for it is high time those who think they can feed from the club coffers were rooted out!

  • Thx for the insight Jakababa but Kilo, Ngala, Orowe & Okuku are only 4 of our 11 EC. That means they alone cannot carry the vote. Moreover these are mostly assistant “something” or the other.
2ndly the chairman is a mandatory signatory to GM’s account(s) hence accountability (or lack of) for the Tuzo sponsorship rests squarely on his shoulders. Usage of the funds required his authorizing signature.

From the crowd I saw yesterday at Nyayo it definitely shows that we have the most fans if attendance to matches is what counts. I know when it comes to FM radio call-ins our shemejis beat us hands-down. The thing that will show how massive our money is being pilfered will be when they announce their gate collection.
Was just reading an article on Daily Nation and what comes to mind is whether we have the capacity to deal with our errand officials constitutionally or through the run-ins. I wish we had a forum where we can discuss these issues with the EC face-to-face occassionally and not waiting when there is a crisis. AR has failed us on this and the new officials are not helping yet. Hope they will in the long run.On finances we need to have some of our fans who are qualified in matters finance and are beyond reproach to be brought on board to scrutinize the usage and financial viability of the club. This will even entise those who have the club at heart but cannot make it to the stadium for one reason or another to chip in financially.

@ jakababa this is what i raised here after our first match with city stars although the issue of voting i can not confirm but the one of ticketing i know it very well and even myself i approached one of the officials you have named.According to the official that i asked the type of ticketing that was brought by the diamond trust bank would cause stampede because it was slow, another reason that he gave me was that their machines that they were to use for detecting fake tickets were faulty, all these reasons that i was given by this gor mahia official were no adding up and can not hold water. This is because we have been using different ticketing firms from ticket masters ,G4S,WELLSFARGO,BIGBROTHER etc.etc and when they were being introduced there was no issue of stampede and the rest, secondly there is no way the machines that the bankers are using in their bank to check genuine cheques and money can be faulty only when they are handling gor mahia tickets.i also approached one of the officials who was being blamed for coming up with the issue of trust bank ticketing and he was franc to me and told me that there are a group of officials especially the ones who were re elected who were sabotaging this system.Bloggers as jakababa has clarified it right know there is stand off within the gor mahia officials with with agroup led by sec general chris and treasurer ken who want transparency in the club and another group of ngala ,killo, orowe and okuku not ready for that.Acording to me i had raised the issue of this people being removed from this office and Dan said that i was threatening officials and in case of anything am the one who will be suspected first. The truth is the old guards are not ready to leave their corrupt ways of milking the club funds.

We are sick and tired with looting of the club coffers by our own officials. If this rot is allowed to continue, I can see Gor Mahia heading to dungeon very soon.

We need the following from all the office bearers including the chairman and all executive officials working under his leadership:-
    1. We need officials (both reputable men & women) who will be accountable to all their actions in the office.
    2. We need officials (both reputable men & women) who can account for every penny raised during all our home matches.
    3. We need officials (both reputable men & women) who can account for every cent received from sponsors and well wishers.
    4. We need officials (both reputable men & women) that can account for every expenses being incurred by the club.

As Gor Mahaia fans, we should all do away with these old officials including the chairman Ambrose Rachier if found to be culpable by passing vote of no confidence. We must demand for a special general meeting to get rid of Kilo, Ngala, Orowe and Okuku as the jury is out that they are all culpable of looting and robbing the club.

From all reliable sources, Kilo has a shop in Naivasha which has been selling club merchandise and pocketing all the proceeds from sales. This is a big conflict of interest in office. It is an abuse of office. Is this not enough reason to send this guy to jail?

On looting and rot at the club, I do blame our FANS of getting the club in this ugly quagmire (an awkward or complex situation) by re-electing criminals (Kilo, Ngala, Orowe and Okuku) in the office to perpetuate their stealing habits in the broad daylight.

Our newly elected Secretary General and Treasurer, this is the time to show true leadership skills in situations where you have been isolated by these greedy hyenas and vultures. I suggest you call for a special general meeting (SGM) once the KPL first leg is over so that fans can bring sanity and proper management of the club affairs.

Our desire was to see our club to turn into professional outfit with proper structures but with these gangs of greedy hyenas and vultures, we are heading nowhere. Gor Mahia unless we fans come up in large number to bring sanity and force the office to implement changes we have been yearning for, the future of the club will continue to look bleak.

    As a matter of fact,
    a) why do we have this bloated office with many useless officials who turns to be the enemy of the club within?

    b) Why do we continue to re-cycle outdated officials?

    c) Why can’t our fans have some sense when it comes to election of officials?

    d) Can we have a scorecard rating to judge the performance of the office bearers?

The ball stops with the fans.

Meanwhile despite these problems, I am praying to the Almighty God to give Gor Mahia victory in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour…Amen

  • dear all bloggers, we are playing with fire! today we can say how some officials are not supporting transparency. This could be the start of things getting out of hand. What would the fans do if the players were to start complaining of unpaid wages? would you ask the same officials to kick out those they think are sabotaging the club? will you allow the corrupt officials to have their cake and eat it? I think we should have a way of barring the officials from even attending soccer matches until they can up with a mechanism for accountability, budget for the club, expenses, variances and what they are doing to narrow the GAP.

we have the best team on the country today, in fact if you wanted the see entertaining football, this is the year. But come next year, the players will be seeking new deals and more the reason why we must keep our house in order.

Bloggers we have all the time to address the AOBs.
For now let us focus on the issue at hand. The clenched fist is our salute. It is made up of five digits of the hand the same number of goals that we are trusting the boys to deliver tonight. Let us all join in solidarity as they do battle for us in Tunis. Were it possible we would have all been in Tunis to defend our supremacy over Esperance. The boys who have been selected to “climb the aeroplane” and do battle on our behalf are our best and we have confidence they can deliver. After all not every Tom, Dick and Harry will “climb an aeroplane” in the name of sport.

Ladies and gentlemen there is a lot at stake here and that is why I appeal to every K’Ogalo follower, faithful and fan to demonstrate solidarity with the team by singing or humming the Gor Mahia anthem wherever we shall be, any time starting from 5 minutes to 6.00 up to 6 pm on the dot. The figure 5 is significant here because it symbolizes the number of goals Esperance will soak as we re-assert our well-documented supremacy over them.

You know which position is best for Owino and for you to suggest he should have been right back was a bit funny or at least being cheeky. Anyway, the match is ended and there is nothing we could do. Owino played well as captain. Apart from the one occassion where we gave the ball away for the 4th goal and the first goal. The rest were goals we could not do much about. Well done!!!

Thanks P Mawego for the link.

Juma despite the scoreline played well. Infact he managed to block the initial shots and was only beaten on the rebound after the defense failed to clear.
Our team played till the end but were simply outwitted by a tactically superior team.
