Shaban Kenga, Geoffrey Kizito and Eric Ochieng each scored a goal as Gor Mahia thrashed Muhoroni Youth 3-0 in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played at the City Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The match started slowly with both sides opting to build from behind and only came to life by the 10th minute. Rama Salim found George Blackberry Odhiambo with a good pass, the latter’s hard shot from just outside the box was punched back into the field of play by Muhoroni custodian Shaban Ouma.
Rama and Walusimbi exchanged neat passes a minute later, the latter crossing the ball to Ssernkuma but the Ugandan’s shot went wide.
Muhoroni could have taken the lead in the 22nd minute after Wanjala lobbed the ball towards the on running Ezekiel Otuoma but the latter’s hard shot went just inches wide.
Gor Mahia’s Shaban Kenga opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a rasping shot from just outside the box after former Congo United Rama Salim had done the spade work.
Muhoroni won a freekick just outside the Gor box in the 28th minute, Israel Emuge having fouled Otuoma. Abbas Akinyemi stepped up to take it and his shot was punched back into the field of play by Muhoroni Youth custodian Shaban Ouma.
Abbas Akinyemi fouled Sserenkuma just outside the box in the 33rd minute. Ugandan Geoffrey Kizito sent in the resultant free kick to double the lead.
The hosts were in control henceforth. In the 42nd minute, Eric Ochieng headed in Walusimbi’s cross from the left to make matters 3-0 in favour of Gor Mahia.
We return all the glories, honours and praises to the Almighty God for hearing our fervent players and by giving us victory over Muhoroni in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour…..Amen
Congrats to the boys,Ec and Tb.we all love being on the perch.let evryone work harder and surely we shall be champions again!
Glory 2 God. Congrats 2 the boys.Pls Ec,ensure that the players salaries and allowances are paid in time. Also rmb to deal with the KRA issue well.We don’t want unnecessary distractions now that things are going on well.
As we celebrate this victory let’s pray for our shemejis so that they can pull themselves out of that hole they are stuck in. Unfortunately they have to swallow their pride and pay Mzee Wepekhulu for the research work that they refused to pay for. An old man’s tears can be a curse so unless they seek for forgiveness they will be in deeper trouble.
For our team congrats and i am happy that several players are opening their ‘goal’ accounts. Now we wait for Obwoge, BB and Kariuki.
Unfortunately that now we have calmness in the field we have to tackle the looming financial crisis. We have to surmount it just like Barca was surviving until the sponsors will come when the team is already ripe. We also now need to brand our players jerseys ‘GOR MAHIA’ for visibility purposes. After all that name itself is a brand.
I said earlier that no one should be fooled by seeing Tusker above us. This is a marathon and not a sprint. Now we must stop looking at the teams below us. We must always aim higher than where we are, which is to win as many games as possible. When a loss or a draw comes, we must accept it and rise up very quickly. Consistency is the game now. 5 matches to mid season and we must try to maximise on them
Congrats team for a job well done. It‘s great to note the level of competition amongst players that gives us an edge in terms of overall performance .
I‘m foreseeing selection headache when the the likes of BB, Kariuki, Daddy ,Oboya and wiper hit in form but it wi
ell make give us options upfront that will make us unpredictable .Just hope Onyango as well will up his game for him to fight for the midfield role.
Otherwise thanks once more for TB and players for making this day a success. To EC kindly execute your roles promptly to avoid delayed salary n bonuses payment that may distract players attention .
The reality is that gor will have an easier outing in the second round.
Most teams after realising things r getting thick will be forced to come out n play soccer n this is where gor will slaughter them.By then gor will b one well oiled machine. Most teams wasted time training only for the gor match, gor so far has had ten tough games. Most teams have no pressure to deliver. Even AFC can afford to sleep. One coach who will prove me right is Kimanzi.
At this rate, only gor can stop gor from taking the league. Haaahaaahaaaaa yawa.
This figure of Kshs.118 million must be authenticated on how KRA had arrived at it. Taxes have consequences and could be having been accrued from wages and allowances payable to players, which I highly doubt can reach at this stupid higher figure.
We need an explanation by KRA and from EC on how this figure was arrived at by KRA. I think may be someone in KRA want to make some easy quick money from our poor club. God forbid.
Few concerns:-
a) How come this matter is coming after the expiry of TUZO sponsorship?
b) Could TUZO be using some underground tactics to frustrate Gor Mahia from getting another sponsor?
Plea to Mr. President, Cabinet Secretary – National Treasury and Youths & Sports, below are few questions that require some answers and your intervention:-
1. How do we grow sports in this country?
2. How do we disengage youths from involving in bad behaviors?
3. How do we promote sports to be a source of income for our boys and girls?
4. How do we promote sports to be a foreign currency cash cow to our country?
Kudos 2 the team 4 doing well despite the many distractions.
KRA pliz also look into the personal accounts of officials.
Most likely EC has most likely not been deducting & remitting PAYE on salaries, allowances to players & technical bench. These r penalized & compounded.
Remember “Gor Player” & cash envelope issues.
There must be a mole leaking info 2 KRA most likely a bitter ex-official.
When some of us insist that bloated EC is a managerial disaster sycophants call us names. So so sad!
Ambrose rachier has threatened to pull gor Mahia out of all competitions in 2014!
Here is the breakdown of the KRA money ,based on information from reliable sources within the authority….
1. Kshs 45 million is owed for failure to remit players taxes on salaries. This also include players who left the club and existing players.
2. Kshs 25 million is owed for failure to remit taxes on players allowances, match winning bonus and championship prize money .
3. Kshs 30 million is owed for failure to remit taxes on club merchandise that was sold ” commercially” by the club and we’re not declared to the taxman.
4. Close to Kshs 18 million owed as interest and penalties on the amount outstanding.
Even if we won 3-0 today, this is the saddest day for me and the fear of the. Pub pulling out of all competitions in protest to the KRA ruling , simply makes me sick to the stomach!!!!!
Nothing to celebrate about……
jakoyo do u want us to be sad.we wont b distracted from our mission of winning matches.let RACHIER sort out the issue unless u have a better way of doing it.where was KRA all that time.
salaries were being processed by Tuzo.so who was meant to pay taxes on salaries? i hate to b told that despite winning 3–0 we need not celebrate because of K R A.tungeshindwa ungesema nini
Let the office deal with the KRA issue. It can be handled, with proper consultations between the Office and KRA. Let the team focus on playing and delivering positive results and let the fans continue praying for positive results for the team (Players) and club.AMEN!
@jakoyo you are indeed a great rumor monger that thrives I telling the whole world your unsubstantiated posting without quoting the source. Shame on you. You are always happy when our club is in crisis. I don’t think you are a real Gor Mahia fan…May be impostor.
Gor Mahia Family, this is the time we need to stand by the club more than ever. Its amazing that even amidts all these problems these wonderful players still go out there and display awaresome perfomances like what we saw yesterday and in Machakos during Easter.
Lets continue coming to the stadium and leave KRA and Salariy issue to the Officials(EC)thats why they are ‘officials’
To the false prophets of doom who thought this would distract and tear the very fabrick that brings together this wonderful movement,we will defeat them and to our haters who are doing clandestine deals with KRA we will shame them at the end of the Season when we would be crowned Champions yet again.
If KRA wants 30m on merchandise then it means we have sold merchandise worth 90m. From what I know the TUZO merchandise might not even have sold 1m worth of merchandise. The ones we have been buying are the ‘fake’ ones from all types of vendors. So I wonder how the club has to pay tax on that.
I don’t believe Gor has been this rich to have a tax liability of 120m. From our salary cap is 3m per month it means the maximum tax per year can only be 3mx30% = 1m. For a year that is 12m.
Anyway let the office handle that as we do what we do best as fans
@ODUOR12 how does a bloated contribute to this? I have seen even a partnership of two people having issues with KRA. Let’s not mix issues. Mara coach is bad mara EC is bloated mara players are sabotaging others using juju.
At least we are winning comprehensively for now and we hope it continues though football being what it is any results can come up anytime. We must learn to support the team even when it’s down
The KRA thing is ridiculous. Congratulations to players for not thinking about this sideshows created by KRA. What became of the funds drive from funs?
Congratulations to all players. The KRA issue can handled and should not be a destructive issue. In fact, KRA should come out clean in this with facts that Gor owe them such a huge amount in taxes.
Is this why the gate fee was raised yesterday? Small teams will start charging exorbitantly during our away matches because they always Gor fans are their financial solutions.
Congrats boys for the convincing victory. Prophets of doom in this blog are silenced. Patia Serunkuma tactics are winning us matches after all. Personally I am NOT worried about nothing. All is well.
For God and my beloved club – Kogallo
