Gor Mahia to kick off membership drive
Gor Mahia will start a new and energized membership drive on Tuesday May 13. Anima Oketch, a member of the club’s executive comittee made the announcement on social media. Famously known as Naima Ferrari min Bentley, she announced that the exercise will kick off on Tuesday at 10 am. The membership fees will be Ksh 1000 per year.
Each member will receive a card and later a debit card. Both are made available by Chase Bank
With corporate sponsorship unavailable, the club has had to increasingly depend on its fan base for support. There have been membership recruitment drives in the past but none were aggressively pursued. In the past, the club also announced other initiatives like season tickets and the so called operation OKOTOPS which fizzled due to lack of follow-up.
At a rate of Ksh 1000 per fan, if the club can recruit 30,000 fans, they will equal the amount that was being disbursed by Tuzo which is approximately ksh 30 million. A target of 30,000 fans seems feasible with a well planned and well executed membership drive.
One possibility for the club to consider is tiered memberships where fans who pay higher membership fees can access more member services.
Good strategy. I support and willl fully comply. But let there be accountability and openness.
Let there be statements of accounts published for everyone to see including KRA. Thanks to KRA for making heads roll. Let there be a chance for open positive criticism without creating a feeling of enmity in our beloved club. I support.
The EC has the data base, names and phone numbers of those who have contributed on 350 100. Call them for recruitment and monthly pledge.
You’ll be surprised that some are ready to give up to 5k monthly other than the one off annual membership.
Membership should be tiered with varying benefits. Make this exciting please so that members can own the idea for its sustainability.
All the best in the launch today though.
We at Coast and particularly the Taita Taveta County do hereby support the imitative to make our clamour club successful in all fronts. We are with the office on this great exercise.
I concur with Mr. Abade, lets have various categories of membership with some benefits. Some of us are ready to sacrifice upto Kshs. 20k as membership fee. Am sure others may even contribute 100k. We may have Gold for Kshs. 100k, Silver for Kshs.30k and bronze for Kshs.15k. Then ordinary membership of Kshs. 1k. Gold, bronze and Silver to get free access to all home matches.
Finally, let us have alot of publicity and road shows to reach out to all the members.
Our Political and business class can for sure afford the Gold package.Lets us approach them with the offer and not wait for them to come. Our slogan should be, “we are Gormahia”

The information above was sourced from the Gor Mahia FC official website.
Having posted the above, i still believe that we are stealing from our own broke club.
With VIP at 600/- i sincerely didn’t expect any figure less than 2M.
I may be wrong but the EC must find a way to maximize collection from the gates and seal all loopholes people are using to rob the club.
thats a great idea. pls do it with vigor. we are ready to give monthly but pls ACCOUNTABILITY MY FRIENDS will make Gor the richest club i east and central africa even without a sponsor. we can sponsor our team
my appeal to EC to kindly roll out the 1million members recruitment drive @ 100 shillings annually and in return the club will get ksh 100 million annualy butlet there be accountatability and lets have more recruitment centers at all branches and nationwide. How can i get my card?
let there be advertisement on all TV and Radio stations reminding the fans on the paybill no and we can as well have some raffle play or tickets.
the idea is fantastic and is one of the best means of sustaining the club. Please give provide us with information that can help us register from diaspora. South Sudan has a lot of K’Ogallo fans that the club can tap.
The membership card posted looks so beautiful I cannot wait for it to be in my pocket. This is one of the right ways to go. This is also what will strengthen the spirit of true patriotism to the club.
I support & ready to have the card ASAP.
Membership drive is a very good idea. Let us start as early as Monday (19-May-2014) next week (latest).
On the gate collection,it is really difficult to accept or deny if that was the total amount collected. However, let us be positive and hope for a better future.
Nairobi county is entitled to 20% of collections? sounds like a rip off, then the stadium hire?
Who is paid training allowance,
why does total deduction differ from total expenses
I fully support the category of Membership ,and just like any other society let there be a minimum contribution per month to sustain the club and lets reward our players well and in time.
monthly subscription ———shs.200/person-=6,000,000,this is based on the assumption that membership of 30,000 is targeted. This alone will be enough to pay for players allowances and salary to our coaches.
As it stand I do not think its advisable to look for sponsors who really restrict the team, lets give chase bank better value of their money and lets seriously deposit cash with chase bank for insuring our players.
Will we be playing in a chase bank jersey?
If not then lets continue with our 350100 with slogan Together we can.Its a good one .
Are we able to hire advertisers to market our team?
Ogada
Can somebody who is well versed with the figures tell me the reason for paying 20% to the county.Bcos if we r to pay for using city stadium, then y shud we pay 20% 2 county. Is that the law or what is the meaning of that payment. I just want to know if that is the law that any team using city stadium must pay 4r using the stadium & also some money for county. I hope that this is not where we loose revenue to the pockets of EC members. God bless K’ogalo.
Yes, we are stealing from ourselves. The VIP section was full and that alone should be Kshs 1.2m at the very minimum!!
Giving 20% of proceeds to Nairobi county imenishangaza. Do other businesses pay 20% to Nairobi county ?
Why are they taking from teams that are already broke ?
20% to the county govt? That is what it means to own a stadium in a strategic place coz you will call the shots. Is cheaper to own a stadium or to hire one probably the ecomomist should do a cost benefit analysis. On membership drive for once am in total agreement with the method but we need info pronto on how to get one. Nowdays at Equity bank you can get your ATM immediately probably Chase should think of the same. In addition i propose the registration be done at City stadium or our offices at Nyayo stadium and away from the bank. Third please lets have three categories of fans , Gold, Silver and bronze with three membership grouos enjoying some defined membership. This i can assure the officials will prompt fans to enroll enmass. The target for membership should be 30,000 minimum.
question….when western stima play mathare united for example and their gate collection is 3,000(though thats on the higher side),does the home team also pay the 20,000 stadium hire,20% share to the county,2000 store and 5000 announcer?just asking……
I fully support the membership drive idea, that’s the way to go.I shall rush to the bank the very moment I get time to get my card! But also wanted to say something on Kpl or football governing body in Kenya! Why schedule Gor vs Chemelil match in Nakuru on Wednesday and then move it to Thursday in Mumias? We r already planning for Make then u drop the bombshell! Style up! Nkt.
Kennedy Odhiambo please lets launch K’Ogalo Juba branch.
I am willing and able to contribute much more than the 1000.00 but all in all I laud the effort.
Kidogo kidogo hujaza kibaba.
K’ogalo for ever!!
@RIP OFF…..Why do we have to give to Nairobi county govt. 20% of gate collection after hiring the stadium ? why do we then av to pay for P.A”s via the announcer at 5000/- .This is wrong.we want value for our resources.stop corruption now
TUJENGE GOR MAHIA.
is there a paybill no. or a way to pay via credit card?
Guys, All this we are paying for it’s because of being taken advantage of. If we were a small club 20% would be peanuts for the county government. Until we bulid our stadium we will continue to be milked. On the PA it’s about security and it is supposed to be used to pass messages about security and other things about the game/ E.g. How do you urge fans not to throw missiles into the foeld or jump into the foeld of play or even telling fans about subs. What we can do to save on that money is a gor fan donating the equipment for the match day.
At least now we know how our team is being fleeced by other bodies.
P.A. SYSTEM: As a club can’t we av our own quality Public Adress system to save on the cost of hiring. I believe that there r lovers of GOR MAHIA who r willing to offer services as M.C.”s at no cost.Let us avoid wastage and save for club’s investments. Our supporters r assets.we need to use them where they r available.
Can the Executive Committee managing the Membership drive call all the fans who contributed for a brain storming session. I am willing to contribute more than Ksh. 1000 per year. I propose Membership in different bands eg. GOLD PLUS membership , Platinum or BRONZE membership . Funs depending on the where you fall enjoy various benefits .
