Gor Mahia set to unveil new look

The loss of key players, Dan Sserunkuma, Geoffrey Kizito and David Owino among others has left Gor Mahia fans downbeat. However their spirits will be somewhat lifted as Gor Mahia has found capable replacements.

In the towering Michael Olunga, Gor Mahia have found a player who is a capable scorer. Last season he scored 9 goals while playing for Thika United. He is a talented player with plenty of potential. While playing for Kakamega high school, he was voted the most valuable player of the national secondary schools championships.

Khalid Aucho has been signed to replace compatriot Geoffrey Kizito with whom he featured in the Ugandan national team. Kizito was a sensation in the Kenya Premier League and may have been the league’s best player. Aucho was rock solid at Tusker in 2014 and should provide similar solidity at the defensive midfield position.

Also arriving from Tusker is defensive midfielder Ali Abondo who left Gor Mahia in 2013 and goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch who will compete with Jerim Onyango and David Juma. Oluoch is said to be the younger brother of George Odhiambo “Taffarel” a goalkeeper who played for Gor Mahia in the late 1990s.

One area that was sorely lacking at Gor Mahia is creativity in midfield. Burundian Pierre Kwizera, an attacking midfielder has been signed to plug that gap. Kwizera has most recently played for Simba sports club of Dar es Salaam but was dropped to make way for additional foreigners. Innocent Wafula who was recently signed from Chemelil Sugar will also provide additional options.

Indeed the Gor Mahia bench has been exceptionally weak over the past year.

Meanwhile some of the players whom Lordvick Aduda had said were dropped or sent in loan were seen in training on Tuesday, among them Daniel Onyango and Charles Bruno.

Aduda Clarifies Arrears

Club CEO Lordvick Aduda yesterday cleared the air on what is happening with regards to unpaid salaries.

“.We had to do first things first since there was a deadline to beat which required that finances are well planned for, he explained. That is why we paid half of the November salaries since we also had to bring on board a couple of signings. It is our policy that we pay by latest 5th. It is just a question of priorities and planning” he told futaa.com

Aduda further promised that all salary arrears will be cleared in two days.

With regard to coach Nuttall, club secretary Ronald Ngala indicates that club and coach have agreed to terms. “We had already done 80 percent as far as Nuttall’s contract is concerned. What was remaining is the bonuses which we agreed to pay him once he retains the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title.

“We have given him a target of forming a strong team that will reach the group stage of the African Champions League, defend the KPL, better performance in Cecafa Club Championship and win any domestic Cup,” said Ronald Ngala

Gor Mahia are set to unveil the new signings on Thursday at the club offices situated at Nyayo National Stadium Block A starting  11:30 am.

The new players are good, a mixture of experience and youthfulness. What is needed now is determination and hard work.

Yes, and what is needed even more is discipline among us supporters. Lets have a new look army of supporters so that we can attract sponsors. The single most negative factor for sponsors is wearing branded jerseys of that sponsor and going around town harassing innocent Kenyans and doing all sorts of negative things in the name of the team. We need to see EC coming out strongly on this matter.

Sofapaka chairman Elly Kalekwa has threatened to scuttle the high profile move of Khalid Aucho to Gor Mahia claiming the player owes his club money

With just hours before midfielder Khalid Aucho is expected to be unveiled as one of the 13 signings by Gor Mahia this season Sofapaka are threatening to spoil the party for the Kenyan champions.

Sofapaka chairman Elly Kalekwa claimed on Thursday that the Ugandan owes his club Sh.400,000 which he accepted one year ago while still at Tusker on condition that he will join his side once he leaves the brewers.

Kalekwa now wants to either be refunded the money or Aucho will have no choice but to play for Sofapaka this season.

“We have all the documents to proove our claim. Aucho accepted Sh400,000 from us one year ago and signed a pre-contract to play for Sofapaka. I already brought up the matter with Gor Mahia and want to be refunded the money or his will be a case of double signing and we will not hesitate to take the matter to Fifa,” Kalekwa told Michezoafrica.

He said the player had promised to refund the money but this has not happened so far. “He told me Gor Mahia were going to give him Sh1.8million and from this he will refund me. I dont have the money yet but it has to be paid before the transfer goes through.”

  • Kalekwa should also tell us why Aucho cannot pay him in 15 yrs if he chooses to. Assuming that this happened then show us the part of the contract that states the length of time the money was to be paid back. So long as Aucho has not refused to pay you back then what is the problem? What Kalekwa is trying to do is to remove food from Aucho’s mouth.
Meanwhile I think the recruitment is fairly good but all this will only be judged once these guys step into the pitch. It’s now up to the coach to prove his worth.

Exactly Dinga, Kalekwa should accept the repayment terms as agreed between him and Aucho. If not let him go to court who might set an even longer repayment period.

CEO Aduda/EC please be serious with players/TB salaries.
In my books that’s priority number 1 since we expect and demand top performance & results.
There’s a saying a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

IN 2015 LET THE PLAYERS & TB BE PAID ON TIME AND IN FULL!
Any way once EC has cleared the December 2014 salaries its upto to Gor fraternity to come up with structures to ensure that 2015 salaries (not allowances) are paid on time.
Let each player and TB member have a bank account whereby their monthly salary is credited by a certain date.
What is the size of our squad (TB included) and the monthly wage bill.

We now have the team & TB in place the question is what structures do we put in place to ensure that they are paid on time and in full.

Jakom AR Sacco would have helped.
Its upto you and me, as we wait for the so called sponsorship to materialize let put in place effective, accountable and transparent structures that ENSURE THAT SALARIES OF THE PLAYERS ARE PAID ON TIME COME 2015.
WE NEED 6,500 MEMBERS TO COMMIT KSHS.500/MONTH OR 10,000MEMBERS TO COMMIT KSHS.300/MONTH TO THE GOR MAHIA SALARY FUND.
A RIDER- A SACCO WOULD HAVE BE THE BEST VEHICLE FOR THIS.

Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa, please be informed that its against FIFA RULES to sign any player when his contract is still running. THOSE ARE THINGS WE CALL!!!!!!!!! HONGO ? RUSHWA? MAPEPO? CHAI? HANDOUTS.

Aucho Khalid pay that money Kshs. 400,000/- at your convient time or pleasure
Or Gor Mahia’s fans power will MPESA? for you to pay your players Kshs. 25,000/= thru MPESA to tie them with painful contracts

My basic legal advise to Kalekwa is to seek court redress and I can assure him that he will lose terribly. That was a token paid to the player that was under contractual obligations to Tusker. This is also referred to as tapping a contracted player without approaching the parent club.

Kalekwa can’t take Aucho anywhere, go to court and lose
everything. Go to FIFA and find TUSKER waiting for you.
This is a skim to distract Aucho’s mind.

Where are my good friends who were calling EC all manner off names? Which excuse do we have now?
Let’s support the team,I mean the whole team this include EC, TB, & Players.
Let’s criticize if necessary and give solutions for the betterment of our beloved K’OGALO

Looks like everyone wants to join Gor. Even Jacob Keli. Now the onus is on us as fans to support the team in whichever way. Apart from the hooliganism way. How I wish we could drop that tag of hooligans as it has really cost us financially.
As fans now we have various channels to support the team through 35100, Tusker jenga team, the standard newspaper sms number, Chase Bank membership amongst others.

    KELI SHOCK DEAL IS DONE

Keli reportedly held talks with K’Ogalo’s top hierarchy on Thursday and he could put pen to paper before end of this week. A source in Gor Mahia revealed that the deal is ‘as good as sealed.’

“We have agreed to sign Keli from AFC Leopards. He was at our offices today (Thursday) for talks and they went well. The deal might be sealed before end of this week.”

The source added, “We believe that Keli can be a good replacement for Dan Sserunkuma, who quit club to sign for Tanzanian giants Simba SC.”

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier said, “Keli was in our offices today (Thursday). He just came to visit our offices and nothing extra ordinary happened. I can only confirm that we still have two more signings to make.

“I am not sure whether Keli is among remaining signings but this should be made public very soon.”

Keli starred in 2013 season winning Golden Boot with 17 goals as well as the Most Valuable player Award while at KCB before being lured to the den where he turned out in 2014 but failed to replicate his 2013 heroics.

I am so delighted at what I am seeing. This indeed is a power house. I think that for kalekwa, the boardroom appeal would have been much better. In reference to the Gor of the Late Len Julians, I think there is a big similarity. Across the board Gor has also gone for height and this is important. The K’Ogalo familly, let us give our undivided support through thick and thin. Through the high seasons and through the low seasons.Thankyou EC. To all those who have been unveiled I say welcome. We must give @Dan Original credit for being the voice of reason on this site. There is a lot AR and his team are working on and am excited at the current signings. Everything we asked for. Watch out for that Ghanaian striker, he is probably our biggest surprise package. There’s a lot more in the pipeline (sponsor, Sacco etc). No need for negative energy. Can’t wait for the season to start.

  • @Pod Antie: Doing what I call a ‘Joseph Kamotho'(the late) does not turn you into an angel. And let it be known that I mention his name in respect but we all know how the guy was a Kanu stalwart, at the end of it all it never amounted to so much in terms of what Kanu gave back to him. What i’m trying to say is that criticism is not a sin and I see no reason why Bloggers should question any other persons loyalty just coz an expression of dissatisfaction is aired. So kindly note that we will (especially me) continue criticizing the EC and whoever, the moment the blunders start. I think it’s something you better get used to and I for one, I’m more respectful of those who point out the rights and wrongs in same measure.

@Dinga, we will continue to support good developments in full measure and at the same time we will criticise all wrong doings and bad habits. We will also offer good proposals that can take the club to greater heights. We will also support the team as great fans of this club no matter the circumstances.

We abhors all forms of thuggery and hooliganisms among our fans and this bad behavior must end this year and we need to arrest all the trouble makers and hand them over to police. When we loose, we should not through any object at the opponents fans nor invade the pitch.

President Uhuru links Gor with potential sponsor
    08 January 2015, 18:02

President Uhuru Kenyatta has lived to his promise to source for Gor Mahia a sponsor after he linked the club with a potential partner.

Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier will on Friday morning meet representatives of an unnamed corporate who the President has directed him to.

Rachier said he had a meeting with the President early in the week and the country’s chief executive gave him contacts to follow up for sponsorship.

“I can inform you here that the president has given me contacts that I will be meeting on Friday to discuss details of sponsorship,” Rachier told reporters.

“I cannot divulge the person or persons I am going to meet or from which corporate it is but I am bvery grateful to the president for his gesture. He promised us as a club last year and he is ensuring the promise is met,” stated Rachier.

President Kenyatta had last November when Gor presented him the Kenyan Premier League trophy at State House Nairobi promised to help the club get a sponsor.

Gor Mahia has had no sponsor since Tuzo, a dairy company associated with the President’s family pulled out.

The back to back Kenya champions have been surviving on gate collection and handouts from well wishers.

Gor will be representing the country in the Africa Champions League.
