Gor Mahia official Naima Aketch released the preliminary information regarding the Gor Mahia SACCO on social media
A good idea whose time was overdue. Now let’s put our actions where our mouths are
How will this model help Gor Mahia Club, even if 30,000 members are mobilized, registration fee being a one off means that the club will only get 3,000,000 during the entire life of the Sacco.
To grow a membership of 30,000 may take several years hence the contribution the Sacco will be making to K’galo is insignificant.
The Sacco does not own the club but is in “partnership” mere funding the club with no say on how the funds are utilized. Very sly of the EC, our beloved football club remains a society for now and the status quo remains.
Solution Let’s join the Sacco in droves and buy the club out right 2/3 years down the line.
As I see it, buying the club is not an option. Too many fans are against it because they are afraid the club will be owned mostly by a few wealthy individuals. Can you imagine if one of the well connected moneybags bought most of the shares of the club?
The formation of the Sacco is a good business venture for Gor Mahia as a club. However, it is not clear who the real owners are. My expectation was that this entity would be fully owned by the club and members would then buy into it. So it leaves many questions begging…who are the original owners who are inviting people to buy the shares? How many shares do they have and how did they acquire these shares?
How does the Sacco use Gor Mahia name and only give the club Ksh 100 for every membership subscription and refer to it as a CSR? How can one entity use the other entities brand name to market itself and refer to it as CSR?
I think that the ownership of the Sacco needs to be made clear and the partnership with Gor Mahia club be defined well so that the club can realize reasonable income from the venture. Otherwise it will be difficult for the Sacco to get a buy in from Gor Mahia football fraternity.
Olunga deserved the player of the month but not abondo.Olunga is a future world class player while abondo oftenly make some mistakes that causes the team.for ec plz buy rama back.
I want to support my dear GOR but not comfortable with this idea ,someone tell me where i can buy the bread in town (Nairobi) please.
The cry babies are back, the SACCO is here join it and stop making noise….shindwe
Do we want to benefit individually or to assist the club to be self sustainable. Gor the club is the loser in the proposed model. Members will gain more than the club yet the Sacco is using the club’s brand name.
Sometimes I am pained by the behavior of my people. Why do we always see the negative sides of things? This is analysis paralysis which has seen our community overly analyzing everything to the extent that no projects is viable at the end of the day. Gor has over 1m fans across the country why would anyone talk of 30k in several years! This is our club let us make it better. It is good to start and fail than to sit back and wait to beg for sponsors. We are better off sponsoring ourselves. Remember the members savings will be invested, loans will bring interest income, unless one isnt informed on how Saccos work. Again Saccos are owned by members in this case Gor Mahia Community – not some individuals as some are already rumoring. You ownership of the sacco is on how many shares you buy. Kshs 1000 for 1 share. Ato HE!
