President Kenyatta honours pledge to Gor Mahia

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday fulfilled his pledge to reward Gor Mahia for their stellar performance at the recently concluded CECAFA club cup.

The cash was presented to Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier by media personality Bill Arocho on Tuesday afternoon.

The President, through the ministry of sports had earlier facilitated the return tickets from Dar es Salaam to Nairobi.

This column would like to thank the president. Gor Mahia as a non-partisan club will receive support from any corner.

Now they need to parlay their success into garnering a sponsor.

The cash will give Gor Mahia a means to settle salary arrears. Though Gor Mahia has been highly succesfulo this season, gate proceeds have been below expectation. And attendance is way below the stellar days in 2011 when even for a midweek match against Sofapaka, Nyayo stadium was  jam packed.

PORK Uhuru Kenyatta does not mince words. When he makes promises, he surely fulfills. We do remember he also promised Gor a sponsor. We are loyally waiting.

  • The idea that Uhuru can get Gor a sponsor is totally misplaced. You can take a cow to the river but you cannot force it….so the saying goes. So long as sponsors find that Gor is a raw deal in terms of violence then you have a long wait. Gor mahia EC must go out of it’s way to talk to their fans, something that, strangely enough, they r reluctant to do. Gor fans shud not expect corperate world to embrace it while those clothed in Gor attire molest ppl in the streets or behave like monkeys on top of monuments. Which corporate boss wants to see his companies name being dragged into such murk. Mathare unt or City Stars is a better shirt to sponsor. Organisations today go out of their way to show their part in social responsibility… in other words how is ur money helping other to better this world n make it peaceful.

Congratulations to the President for this great assistance. Other willing sponsors should step in and help. This is a football team which has nothing to do with politics. Willing sponsors, please come on board . Supporters, please, always attend matches, promote the 350100 paybill number and buy Gor Mahia bread. Where there is will there is way. Together we can.

Let me add my voice here to thank the PORK, keep this spirit. I also hope that this donation is from deep down your heart and not attached to any other considerations except helping these boys. And please find a day in your busy schedule to attend one of our matches and talk to us supporters, you have never done that but you will be surprised how much these people love you.

Why haven’t the officials both AFC and Kogalo jointly invited him for the Derby, is he available on this Sunday?
