Top 8 match is on

courtesy of futaa.com

The Sunday 29 July Kenyan Premier League [KPL] Top Eight match between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will proceed as scheduled.

This was a ruling made the KPL governing council, in a meeting held on Friday 27 July.

-In the event that either club fails or refuses to honour the match, the match shall be awarded to the club present for the match, reads a letter addressed to Football Kenya Federation’s Secretary General Lodvick Aduda, and signed by James Musyoki, the KPL Chairman.

-The forfeiting club shall be fully liable and responsible for paying in full any related penalties or losses of bonuses that may be applied against KPL broadcast and/or any rights holders and/or other sponsors and/or any other contractual obligations.

AFC have over the past one week stuck to their bid not to play the match, for reasons ranging from financial strain to not being consulted.

  • Let the match proceed as initially arranged. Afc Leopards are nt the only Club chasing the KPL TITLE THIS YEAR. If they dnt wnt to be disrupted then why not honour the match, field their weekest side and thn lose the match. By doing this, they will be out of the tournament wtht attracting any sanction/penalty. Otherwise their flipfloping is realy bad for football growth and development in the country. Coach Lugarisic MUST continue to prepare his desregarding the hulabaloo and noise emmanating from the enemy’s camp. Go go go go Gor Mahia. May God be glorified 4 the great thîngs he has done.

Can they come clear and precise on the issue. How or to whom will i claim my refund if the game doesnt proceed? Can EC give direction as the coach is also announcing on futaa.com a friendly on the same day date and time @tok kanyamwanda

  • The only thing motivating some people is the Kshs.6M frm the 30,000 tickets printed. The damage is already done and attendance in this match will b badly affected.

As Qyugi @ 3 asks above who will refund fans if the match fails.
FKF the supreme soccer body in the country has already ‘sided’ with AFC by advising postponement so how will KPL effect its sanctions.Nyamweya will just show KPL whose the boss.

I repeat that once a team does not attend the pre-match and categorically states that its not attending a match, then at that stage award the opponents a walkover.BTW I had advised KPL to award the walkover when AFC started fussing in March. Finally it ain’t Ole Magelo but Koops whose not interested in this match.

@ oduor12 its very very sad for the football in Kenya as the two historical clubs hold and control everything. this is IMPUNITY. am a GOR MAHIA FUN EVER SINCE I NEW THE BAD FROM THE GOOD BUT SAY WE NEED CHANGE AND TREAT ALL PARTIES EQUAL. AFC LEOPARD KWACH RAKIDO AS I CALL THEM HAVEN’T CHANGED FROM TIME IN MEMORIAL. WE DID PLAY THEM WHEN OUR HOUSE ISN’T IN ORDER YET THEY CAN PLAY US NOW. DID THE JUST ELECT THEIR OFFICIAL THE OTHER DAY? COURT ORDER EVERY TIME! WHO IS THE DEVIL BEHIND KWACH RAKIDO RANGI NE THOTH? FKF SHOULD STEP UP AND HELP CLEAN THAT HOUSE IF POSSIBLE INVOKE THE CLAUSE THAT REQUIRE SPORTS DISPUTES TAKEN TO THE SPORT ARBITRATION COURT AND NOT THIS COURT WHERE EVERY OTHER RULING DOESNOT CONSIDER THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL ASPECTS IN THE NAME OF IMPLEMENTING KATIBA AND SHOW OFF THEIR INDEPENDENCY BECAUSE OF VETTING. BAN AFC LEOPARD AND ALL PARTIES OF THE COURT ORDER FROM ALL FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES.

Guys let us buy the tickets considering it’s a loss since our oppenents seems not to be serious and I concur with all the above six bloggers that attendance is already affected; as at yesterday (Friday),only 600 tickets had been sold. If I were the organizers I would have gone for two direct options –
    (1) award GM the match outrightly the moment AFC leopards failed to show up for the previous meetings (they have already shown insubordination to organizers and total disrespect.
    (2) get plan B where you say the match will go on as in the case ( but get Tusker to be on standby same day at Kasarani) so that in an event AFC doesn’t show up then we head straight to final…

Anyway I repeat – let us buy tickets just in case; after all how much have you ever lost since you were born? This is not going to be the first neither the last…

  • @7 W.A.B with all due respect I beg to differ since nobody throws away money deliberately.

Also note that the from GMFCs side its the usual suspects of the village dance fame (F&G) pushing this Top 8 agenda.
Top 8 tourney is not important,EC give the team an off on Sunday to attend church. 4get the useless treat frm KPL u have it on record that AFC refused to play!
K’galo sio team ndogo to go and desperately wait for AFC to turn up or not.

@8 Oduor – I agree that nobody would just want throw money even if it were 1 bob but the reality of life is that it’s always inevitable whether we like it or not. So what is your suggestion-should we attend or not? Pls let me know what your feeling is. The reality staring at us are two:
    1) Attendance will obviously be affected
    2) We are not sure whether or not AFC will show up. BUT if they show up then who supports our side if we all decide not to risk buying tickets?

Also need to note that GM will be fully present therefore we need to decide if we go or fail. Repercussions for failure of either clubs to attend are below; for us fans it’s a loss coz if AFC fails to attend then where will we get the refund?

    ——-Repercussions——
-In the event that either club fails or refuses to honour the match, the match shall be awarded to the club present for the match, reads a letter addressed to Football Kenya Federation’s Secretary General Lodvick Aduda, and signed by James Musyoki, the KPL Chairman.

  • afc leopards made a bad decision.trying to use somebody who has sat on their accounts as an excuse. i thnk this story was simply made up. the afc officialdom did not want to play gor from the word go so this hupla hupla story of no cash. afc shud have stated that they want to play gor lakini pesa ndio hakuna. and when kidero gave some cash it switched to security issues. obviously afc had some bone to pick about the last engagement. but now the match will be played but bila pesa. i was to buy a tiko lakini by jana i lost hope. so gor just show and collect the get pass for the nxt match. my advice to afc, ONLY PLAY POWER GAMES WHEN YOU KNOW U HAVE THE CLOUT, otherwise kaa kimia. ok u will not go to kasarani, but i can assure you one thng, you will continue with the leguea matches cause for some STRANGE REASON, you will have access to money again. so you attend the match you loose face… you don’t attend you loose face(coz you will attend league mathces). but one thing still stands this super 8 is one worthless tournament. supersport shud not blackmail fkf just coz of the sponsorhip they give to the league. they shud have handed the money towards the presidents cup which kud have resulted to increased goodies and simply added their name to the sponsorship title olympics style. forcing a bogus tournament on fkf is simply acting how DONORS in africa do.. WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU SO PLS SHUT-UP.

Since when did Magelo and Koops decide the Kenyan fixtures? They may run but they cant hide. Even if they win the League they still have to meet the likes of TP Mazembe on the African stage. I dare ask, who will bell the cat?

Guys, one newspaper has it that the game is out according to fkf chair, which is which? Here we are with the tickets. I beg to differ on saintdom of fkf and particularly Nyamweya himself: remember there was a time even organising league fixtures was imposible under kff where this guy nyamweya as sec general. I don’t believe ss has short changed anyone by creating a 1million tournament with 100k cash expense reimbursement for kenyan f’ball why are we so unfair and lazy? Is it not the duty of kpl to arrange for further prize and maybe teams to seek more sponsorship on these platforms. Instead everyone’s complaining and vilifying the tournament. I stand to be corrected but my stand has always been that kenyan football need more games.

All I will simply say is that the comments in this forum are unfortunately myopic and lack objectivity. AFC have stated their reasons fo not playing if GOR think otherwise let them attend make up the numbers get the game awarded to them then go home. There is no need to make a lot of superflous and spurious asserti

  • At least because of AFC not honouring the match we got an opportunity to see the reserve players prove themselves. Was impressed by the physical fitness, especially Gaucho, Lavatsa and Imbem. It’s good our benchpower is reliable unlike AFC who forfeit a match because Wanga is not available. The turnout was also good despite the ‘poisoned’ atmosphere. Looks like our fans will never disappoint but let’s avoid some of those songs and dirges which boarder on hate speech. Was just wondering where AFC will get the security arrangement for the second leg if they don’t believe in the security provided by the Kenya police.
