Gor Mahia U20 recover to beat Western Stima
After a dissapointing opening match loss to arch rivals AFC, the Gor Mahia U20 side recovered to beat their Western Stima counterparts 2-1. Joseph Waruinge, who has features for the Gor Mahia youth side for two years now, was the hero of the day, scoring two goals. Western Stima replied throgh Douglas Ouma.
Much was expected from Gor Mahia since they have a standing U20 side as opposed to AFC who assembled their team only weeks prior. Gor Mahia have also done well in the provincial leagues. As such the loss to Ingwe was dissapointing.
Gor Mahia youth coach Maurice Onyango attributed the loss to nervousness.
“The players were nervous. Today I was surprised how the players played today because we were disorganized and weak in all departments. We have played against strong teams and we have been able to beat them. I think the crowd was the cause of the nervousness because when you look at the first half they did not settle and maybe because we came into the match as favourites the players seem to have underrated the opponents and when they scored against us they were surprised” said Onyango to futaa.com
The KPL U20 tournament has been marred by suspicion of age cheating. It is ironic that Muhoroni use the word “Youth” in their name. Their players do not appear to be under 20.

So sad that this noble ide is being wrecked by the chief organizer. The Muho team of Adagala who is the the coordinator seem to be composed of over 25s
