Khalid Aucho’s trial at Aberdeen falls through

Former Gor Mahia midfield ace Khalid Aucho has concluded his trials at Aberdeen FC.  Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has confirmed the Ugandan ace will not be joining the club. Aucho , who played for Tusker before joining Gor Mahia in 2015, featured in a friendly against Arbroath in July but has not done enough to earn a deal.

Aberdeen need a new midfielder after the departure of Willo Flood, who returned to Dundee United. And despite impressing McInnes, the manager said Aucho is not the kind of player they need.

Aucho has blamed Gor Mahia for the fiasco that ended with him not getting a contract.

I feel so sad my dream of joining Aberdeen has been shattered. I did all I could do on the pitch to impress, but I was told my club Gor Mahia has asked for too much which was impossible for the club to pay,” Aucho told supersport.com.

However, a senior Gor Mahia official, who sought anonymity, has stated the club had not received any offers.

“Gor Mahia cannot be blamed on the Khalid Aucho fiasco; we saw it coming as some agents wanted to make a killing out of the deal making it flop. Gor Mahia got no offers and it’s not in our policy to refuse players seeking greener pastures,” the official said to supersport.

Aucho has been the subject of bizzarre transfer speculation on social media since June. He is now likely to travel to South Africa for a trial with Bidvest Wits

I wish he was signed by Aberdeen. If he goes to SA instead, GM will not get any transfer fee

  • We had predicted this outcome and we all know what we were called for pointing this out.Aucho at it again. He told Supersport that it was Gor that had asked a fee to high for Aberdeen to pay. A convenient excuse to cover his failure. He remains one of the best midfielders to wear the green jersey and if the deal down South fails he is always welcome back for next season.
