Gor Mahia hammer Chemelil 3-0

Two goal hero: Tuyisenge

Gor Mahia players put aside their frustrations with club officials and continued to storm towards the 2017 KPL title. On Thursday they beat Chemelil Sugar 3-0. Jacque Tuyisenge struck twice and Kenneth Muguna sealed the score.

Additional Reporting from Capital Sports
Despite facing a tough week characterized by training go slows over unpaid allowances, record 15-time Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia did not show any sign of a club in crisis as they rolled on to a 3-0 win over Chemelil Sugar in Kisumu on Thursday.

Rwandese forward Jacques Tuyisenge struck twice in the first half with Kenneth Muguna adding a third as Gor romped to their sixth win in seven matches to open up a nine-point gap at the top of the standings, looking well on course to a 16th league crown.

Missing Harun Shakava ,who is on suspension and the injured Karim Nizigiyimana, head coach Dylan kerr who remains unbeaten since taking over Gor made changes in his starting squad, bringing in Wellington Ochieng at right-back while Joash Onyango partnered skipper Musa Mohammed at the heart of defense.

K’Ogalo were fast off the blocks especially buoyed by Sofapaka’s 2-1 loss at the hands of Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday which gave them some breathing space at the top of the standings.

Muguna had a chance with a fourth minute freekick but it went straight to the wall while 10 minutes later, Apollo Otieno was forced to make a hasty clearance off George ‘Blackberry‘ Odhiambo’s feet after keeper Jairus Adira had failed to hold on to a Wellington Ochieng cross.

The early pressure paid off in the 22nd minute when Tuyisenge beat Adira one-on-one after racing on to a George Odhiambo through ball.

The Rwandese added his second in sublime fashion, banging the net with a well taken overhead kick after Meddie Kagere flicked on a cross from Ochieng on the right.

Chemelil, who were off a 4-1 spanking by Sofapaka last weekend, thought they had grabbed one back 10 minutes from half time but Faraj Ominde’s goal was ruled out for offside.

At the start of the second half, Kerr pulled out Tuyisenge as a precautionary measure with the striker having picked up an injury in the weekend win over Nzoia Sugar as Francis Kahata took his place.

Gor continued dominating and looking all comfortable and Muguna struck their third goal in the 62nd minute after a beautiful one-two interchange of passes with Kagere.

With a 3-0 advantage, Kerr made his second sub, pulling out Innocent Wafula who had started on the right offensive side for speedy John ‘Softie’ Ndirangu.

His opposite number Abdallah Juma responded by making a double change, pulling out the ineffective Collins Neto for Philip Muchuma while Erastus Mwaniki paved way for former Thika United forward Moses Arita.

However, not even the offensive changes would make a difference for the sugar millers as Gor managed to hold on to the lead, a healthy boost ahead of their weekend trip to Thika to face hosts Thika United.

Gor would have had the last laugh in a match they dominated with Kahata’s effort being parried away at the stroke of 90 minute by Adira following a good passing move by the league leaders.

This is very encouraging. Congrats vijana. 4 more wins and we are there.

“4 million problem” like some of us have been calling Tuisenge, are now silenced. Mig7 is proving to be a real asset. Kagere had been written off and the “soccer experts” of this blog had even recommended that he be offloaded during the mid transfer window. Wale wajamaa wa kulalamika lalamika, must be very disappointed now. They are waiting for Gor to loose one game and they come out gun blazing, abusing everybody left right and center.

    What is my point?
Let us always learn to be patient. All the 30 players are capable delivering results if given time. All they need is time and an unequivocal support. Let us avoid calling players names.

In Gor Mahia I trust. For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

I think the new coach is the one who has made a difference. Even Migi said so an interview posted on this blog a few days ago. He said Ze Maria was playing him out of position.

And Kerr said he would work on sharpening the attack. This is something Ze Maria could not. Now if the officials stop sabotaging the club then Kogalo can start winning outside Kenya as well.

Congrats to the entire team led by Kerr Head of Technical bench, players, fans and EC. I would like to encourage the EC to focus and have more emphasis on players’ welfare and these lads are capable of winning all the remaining matches. Kudos once again to the team for splendid performance.

It is time to start preparing an assault on the CAF Champions League. This team can go far.

The Kenyan league is now below Gor standards. Kerr must start plotting now how to tackle the likes of Mazembe, Al Ahly and Sundowns

It has been too long without a continental crown.

Rachier and other corrupt officials should step aside.

@Obino, great comment but the last statement is really uncalled for in the current circumstances. Running a football club like Gor Mahia is not just a walk in the park. We could be having financial problems even from the sponsors just imagine Crown Beverages and Supersports pulled out and this too is severely affecting finances of the club and other premier league teams.

We need to learn to appreciate what Ambrose Rachier has done in Gor Mahia for the results we are seeing though there could be internal problems and more that can be done with our mearge resources.

Why can’t we also blame our fans for having stopped gracing and attending our matches in large numbers? This low and declining match attendance has got huge dent in the club finances. For example just imagine that the club’s net collections has dropped significantly due to low attendance and joyriders fans hence match winning allowances can’t be paid to our deserving and hard working players.

We as fans need to take initiatives of urging our fans to grace all our home matches in large number. We need to do roadshows, FM radio campaigns, adverts, entertainment etc to drive fans back to the stadiums.

Jamigori bro, this roadshows, FM radio campaigns and adverts are what Nyangi is saying she tries to do daily as Organising Secretary but cartels led by one Salli Bolo circumvent her efforts so they can eat the money. What is the solution to such Shenanighans…

@Jasego, I do agree but I think we need to do things differently such as bringing raffles to be won and gifts. There are personalities in the media houses that can be used for good of the club.

Roadshows etc may just be an avenue for Nyangi to also “dip her hands in the cookie jar” But whatever her motive I thank her for revealing the dirt under the executive /red carpet.

I agree with @ Jamigori, we need to do things differently.
What is the need (for an opaque bloated EC that has not taken GMFC past the preliminaries of CAF in +10 years) to maintain such high gate charges.
Why not charge 100bob for Russia and get 10,000 fans i.e kes.1M and 300bob for VIP and get 1,500 fans i.e kes.450K. Total collections per home match to be kes.1.45M.
For 15 home games it will be at least kes. 21.75M of which Mugabe will declared only kes.9M at he did in a previous AGM.

Even if charges are reduced to 50bob for Russia and 250bob for VIP the more fans will means more gate collections and better still more fans attending the matches and motivating the players. Collections will still be at least kes.1M per match.

Also @ Jamigori that Sportpesa logo on GMFC jersey means a sponsorship of kes.65M per year.
Where does Mugabe take this money?
            Ama ?
Jun 17, 2017-A High Court judge has ordered prominent lawyer Ambrose Rachier to pay Sh80 million to an investor for failure to honour his professional undertaking.

Mr Rachier had allegedly promised to repay a loan advanced to his client, Friends That Care Holding, by Diamond Star General Trading, through his law firm Rachier and Amollo Advocates in case the client defaulted in fulfilling its obligations.

  • Thika United must be relegated at all costs.

Congratulations to the men in green for giving Gor Mahia jersey a little more value.
Anybody who can give us a personal assessment of the players’ performance is hereby welcome. I like the fact that the reserve players are being given a chance to prove themselves. And they are not failing us. The new goalkeeper, The new defence squad, a midfield without Wendo and Kahata-led strike force. Keep it up guys. Boniface has also given the new goalkeeper a chance to keep clean sheets. Thanks Bonny for being a good mentor. I wonder whether the players will feel the need to transfer due to lack of playtime.
And this Sally Bollo who has introduced Goldenberg back to our finances, can’t she pay the players their allowances before pocketing the gate collections?

With the heated political climate I pray our fans celebrate modestly after we beat Thika because it can become messy on Sunday!!

I hope kogalo fans will be calm though. The next four games are crucial. Thika, sofapaka, tusker, ulinzi. If we can manage at least 10 points from the four games, then the title is as good as won

    @ Albert Kosero,
“All the 30 players are capable delivering results if given time” This is a very critical point you have made. When recruitment is done, no scout and the TB goes for a player who cannot perform. They may not all click at the same time, they may not all be at the same level at the same time and the bottom line also is that they do not all play the same match at the same time. Only eleven with an option of 3 subs can play on a particular day and match. They rest shall remain on the bench or may not even make it to the bench. It does not however mean they are a liability. Each and every one of them hopes to play every game but it is not possible. Our part as their supporters is to believe in their abilities and appreciate them all the times. This is what gives them confidence whether on the field playing, on the bench, terraces and on the streets. They know that someone somewhere cares for them enough. K’Ogallo family, one’s child is not only a child when they are doing well in whatever, but even in their lowest moment . Of course everybody, as is the tendency of human beings, wants to identify with winners like we are with our team, but nobody is born playing. They may have the talent but would still need to work very hard it. Certain virtues thus come to play. Patience, Understanding, Humility, Forgiveness, encouragement and the ability to say tomorrow will be a better day. K’Ogallo Oyeeeeeeeeee

Well reasoned @ Riaga. It is foolhardy to pretend that all is well when players at not being paid as per their contracts & FOR WINNING. What is this Mugabe wailing about when the kes.65 million Sportpesa contract is still intact. He is crying about the income part but never wants to explain the expenses mara building a stadium, guest house nef, nef but how when EC “cannot” pay player allowances on time. Let’s not frustrate Ker (as per BB’s concern) who is responsible for turnaround. We know what Mugabe did to Nutall.
