Gor Mahia take on Posta Rangers
Gor Mahia will resume their 2018 Sportpesa shield campaign on Wednesday when they take on KPL side Posta Rangers. Gor Mahia reached the round of 16 after beating Kenpoly 5-0 at Machakos stadium in June.
The last time these two sides met, Gor Mahia destroyed Rangers 5-0. Their coach, Sammy Omollo “Pamzo” a former Gor Mahia player and coach will be eager to make amends. After finishing 4th in the KPL in 2017, Rangers are having a campratively dismal year and are currently in 11th place.
The match will kick off at 4pm at Kasarani, Prior to the match, AFC Leopards will play their round of 16 match against Mwatate at the same venue.
Nizigiyimana and Wendo available for selection
Gor Mahia’s dependable right back Karim Nizigiyimana, who has not played a game this season, is now available for selection. Nizigiyiman tore his achilles tendon against Thika United in 2017 and has not played since then. This according to club official Ronald Ngala.
“Karim Nzigyimana is also back in training after a long absence but doctors say he is now fit to play,’’ Ngala told Citizen Digital.
Ngala also noted that Ernest Wendo, who suffered a groin injury at the CECAFA tournament in Tanzania, is back in full training.
Gor Mahia find new office
Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, has announced that club has found a new location for its office. The club has been without an office since February 2017. This was due to accrued arrears totalling to Sh4.6million after the club failed to honour the 2011 lease agreement of Sh85, 000 a month rent.
The new office is at Development house on Moi avenue, 8th floor.
Mashemeji derby gate collection: Ksh 3.9 million
AFC Leopards who were the host team, have announced that they raised Ksh 3.9 million at this weekend’s derby. According to the club, they sold 18,592 terrace tickets for Ksh 200 and 385 main stand tickets for Ksh 500. Total attendance was 18,977.
The best attended match this season has been Gor Mahia vs Hull City. In that match, Gor Mahia announced that attendance was 30,000 fans and the gate collection was Ksh 3.6 million.
It is in this gate collection where we always go wrong. In the second leg when Gor will host Bolo will tell us they have collected 1.6 million and after deductions the club banked 340,000!!!!!
Musymo pliz explain to me how Afc collected 3.9 M with 18,977 fans attending majority paying 200ksh as Vip sold only 385 tickets and GM vollevting 3.6 M after 60,000 fans paid 100ksh..Now Bolo says it was 30,000 fans but c’mon Kasarani wasn’t half full we were there and the stadium was packed to capacity full fan attendance…
@jasego, Bolo paro ga ni pachwa ngato ochamo….let us wait for the next derby and I will be watching with interest!!!
Welcome back Karim Nizigiyimana & Ernest Wendo.
I have it on 100% authority that the real total collection for the Mashemeji derby was 5.4m , I also have it on authority that the total collection for the Gor vs Hull city game was 5.94million , the Afc cartel decided to give their fans a figure that was slightly higher than the one of Hull city to divert attention and it has worked brilliantly .
Secondly , as a Kenyan who feel that compe to Gor esp from Afc is good for Gor n kenyan football , I was disapointed to see Afc fans go hammer and tongs at Zapata for losing to Gor , its so sad , bcoz it is the Afc EC that is the problem and not Zapata , Zapata is a very good coach , ofcourse not to the level of Kerr , but good all the same .
You cannot judge the quality of the coach bcoz of a loss to kogalo , it would be like demanding Kerr resigns for losing 2-1 to Real Madrid, that is not how life works , progress is gradual but consistent but how do you get consistency by ALWAYS FIRING COACHES ?.
Finally welcome back Nzi and Wendo , its now your turn in the Rotation .
Karim your position is very much competitive with Wafula bringing dynamism and Philemon being rock solid in thwarting attacks. You have your work cut out in rejoining first 11 but i surely miss your electric flank runs and wish you do sooner rather than later…
@jasego and @musymo…I wanted to bring up that gate collection issue but feared a backlash from bloggers here.
How is it that Afc have collected more money yet the stadium was not as packed as the time that Bolo announced some ridiculous amounts when we hosted Afc?!!
It’s amazing how things work in Gor!!
@Oswozo, it always very frustrating and it is like Bolo assumes all of us are fools. The impunity with which it is done is even more annoying. And never hold back for fear of a backlash. Just voice your opinion Sir if it for the good of the club. Most of the time the bashers have nothing to add to the conversation and find an easy way out in reactive admonitions and insults.
@musymo..thanks…and noted!
@Bloggers, we need full accountability and if possible all tickets sold should be counted and reconciled to weed out fake tickets. Why can’t EC come up with a better way of receipting the funds? We need EC to be innovative in maximizing gate collections to avoid theft and stealing by adopting better ways of collections as follows:-
1. These days with ICT platform and innovation, we have Lipa na Mpesa with a clear paybill number and payment acknowledgement should be represented by all fans at every entry points with proper and efficient identification mechanisms.
2. Fans can deposit the equivalent gate entry amounts with bank(s) and must present and surrender the original deposit receipts with caretakers at the gate.
3. Match entry tickets should have security labels that should be swipped through a swipping machine at every entry points.
In order to control the crowd, gates should be opened earlier and fans should be encouraged to be in the stadium earlier in order to avoid congestion at the entry points and smooth flow of fans into the terraces.
In future Bolo should not be telling fans blatant lies. It was really wrong to give wrong and manipulated figures after Hull game when the stadium was packed (approximately 60,000 fans) to the capacity with several fans locked outside watching from the screen that was mounted by Sportpesa.
I wish Bolo has been reading fans and bloggers postings in this site in order to rectify anomalies at the gate and misrepresentation of facts. Fans are not fools to complain and the same mistake and looting is being witnessed nearly in all Gor Mahia home matches.
When Gor Mahia is playing away games against other KPL teams, I am suggesting that our opponent teams should be encouraged to disclose and publish the gross and net amount collected or receipts so that we can benchmark our home collections in order to shame the looters at the gate.
Oswozo osiepa you need not fear when you are in the company of greats like Musymo, J’Asego, Le Pastre, Nyarkopolo, Teddy Sofaset, Francis Nyakwar Dhiang’ Mamuol and other progressive minds. With you we stood up to those who wish to run down this wall into a forum for propagation of hatered and intolerance. You must never be cowed nor should you grow weary.
I take this opportunity to congratulate Ker for finally winning coaches’ award. I pray that he bags a rare double come the award for July.
Excuse me good people. Our match against Posta tomorrow will be live on Y254 TV as from 4 p.m. Can someone therefore guide me on how to access this channel. Do I have to install an application software as was the case with Azam TV?
Y254 is available on one of the GOTV bouquets
Meanwhile will Gor go to TZ now thay KRA has seen it fit to block their account. I wonder who is to blame, KRA or Gor EC? I think people like rreadurer should never be elected but hired for their experience
Please educate me on this tell.
I dont think Bolo assumes we are foolish when she announces her fake gate collections but rather she does that knowing she/they are untouchable and their is nothing we can do about it , so far she has prooved herself right bcoz she has done it over and over before without any repercussions and she will do it again and again and again and then after taking note , what are we gonna do ? , well , we will do what we have always done before , breathe fire and brimstones while Bolo catwalks her way to the bank with the Ngala’s in tow .
Does anybody remember what excuse Bolo gave when a jilted Nyangi on being shortchanged on her cut from the proceeds , decided to spill the beans ? , well the theft through sale of fake receipts was attributed , by Bolo herself , to a relative of some official , what did we do about it ? , well , we did what we will do next time , Breath more fire and again wait for a future theft .
So Yes , they know that we know but they also know that so much as we know , we dont know what to do about it and theiren lies the limitation of our knowledge .
Gor Mahia’s account frozen over Ksh129 million tax arrears
ISAAC SWILA
24 JUL 2018
Gor Mahia are starring at yet another round of financial quagmire after the tax-man Kenya Revenue Authority froze the club bank’s account at the Development Bank over a Ksh. 129 million tax arrears.
Citizen Digital understands that the tax-man took the drastic measure this week.
Gor Mahia’s deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala declined to talk on the matter: “I can’t comment on that issue at the moment, please look for the chairman.”
When reached for comment, club boss Ambrose Rachier said that he had received a phone call from the bank’s Managing Director that there was a letter from KRA’s Income Tax Department though “he wasn’t sure” of its contents.
Said Rachier: “Well, I have not seen the letter but I’ve been called by the bank…I would plead with you that I see the letter. Wait until tomorrow then we can talk.”
Rachier, when asked whether there had been correspondence between the club and the tax-man before the startling decision was made, said: “We really had nothing (no correspondence) at all . All I know is that about a month ago someone posted on our social media, a purported letter from the Income Tax Department.
He went on: “I did receive a call from the bank’s Managing Director who is also still away on leave. So, I’m not sure of what it contains.”
However, impeccable sources at the club confided in Citizen Digital that there had been correspondences between the club and the tax-man, with the latter seeking tax arrears amounting to a staggering Ksh 129 million.
The latest development is likely to hit the club below the belt coming at a time when they are involved in crucial assignments– a Caf-Confederation Group D match against Yanga SC of Tanzania this Sunday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Gor has over the ages walked a tight- financial rope and it remains to be seen how the matter will be settled bearing in mind that three years ago, KRA slapped them with a similar demand.
The Kenyan giants are sponsored by a leading gaming firm.

My blood pressure is rising…I thought AR being the lawyer of repute he is put this matter to rest some years back ..Now KRA is gunning for our CAF windfall money of 27M we got for reaching group stages and the likely 35M we will be getting for quarter finals hence this decision. But why always Us that weneva things are too good some shocking bolt to derail us in unleashed?Nyasaye watimo ga ang’o mok nyanewa huruma nii yawa?Aol aol jodhot nyiswa kaka watimo kae koro. Finance people like Dan Original and Oduor12 and Teddy this is your field me am a Scientist magi akya.Akira and Abok Nyamwanda jathurwa bende uneno wach malich nii?Afc were forgiven a similar debt that was written off i remember so why not GM?
Work over as usual,,, bt am glad nizingimana iz making his way back,,, I swear gor is on fire dhiz season
I stopped paying bus fare, availing myself at stadia and paying gate fees the moment I realized some corrupt officials were building mansions with my money instead of paying players. I will watch from my sitting room. If they threaten not to air it, good old Twitter will update me. Gisechamo moromo.
About this gate collection, I look at it from different perspectives:
1. It is alleged that many fans tend to forcefully gate crush during our matches.
2. Afc fans never turn up to support their team when we are the host.
3. Afc takes advantage of us because they know our fans will always attend anyway.
My thought is therefore that Bolo may be saying the truth at its bare minimum.
