2012 KPL kicks off
The 2012 Kenya premier league promises to be one the most exciting ones in recent history. All the top contenders have strengthened their sides. Defending champions Tusker have added pass master Peter Opiyo and Jerry Santos to what promises to be a resourceful midfield. AFC Leopards have added Allan Wanga and Eric Masika among others. Sofapaka have happily welcomed the return of James Situma
Gor Mahia fans are eager to see the club win the national title, something the club last did in 1995. The team has changed dramatically with the addition of no less than 8 key players. Two high profile matches against Tusker and El Merreikh have given the coaching staff opportunities to study players and attempt to come up with a winning formula. So far the new team has not impressed but has shown intermittent signs of brilliance. Rama Salim’s play has shown shades of Zinedine Zidane in his prime. Now if he only he channel that into creating chances. The backline has changed completely with the addition of Yusuf Juma, David Owino and Donald Mosoti. Its an excellent trio but it may take time for them to gel and develop an understanding.
The addition of the vastly experienced Ivo Mapunda in goal will help the team especially at continental level. In midfield, hopefully Collins Okoth will put aside his issues and combine with Moses Otieno or Teddy Akumu to provide solid cover for the defence. Moses Odhiambo was one of the brightest spots last season. Hopefully he will continue his brilliant play and penchant for scoring crucial goals. The good news is that winger Dan Makori has recovered from injury and is ready to go.
The forwardline was the biggest problem last season. So far the signs have not pointed towards improvement despite the addition of Hugo Nzoka and Anthony Otieno who have yet to play and veteran George Midenyo who has not impressed so far. Baldwin Ngwa has shown some flashes of brilliance but is nursing an injury and may not be available. It is not known when Edwin Lavatsa will be back from injury. It is however too early to tell and coach Awono could very well come up with a winning formula. He did just that last season when he took over, steering the team out of the doldrums.
In 1968, Gor Mahia was formed by combining players from 3 teams. Luo Stars and Luo Union merged and a several new players were recruited from Kisumu Hotstars. The new side was able to win the league on its first attempt. Kogalo fans today will be hoping for a repeat. It happened in the past and can happen again now. Fans will also be hoping that the team starts the league well. The past two years have seen disastrous starts, most notably last year when they went down 0-3 to Rangers and in the previous year when they were in the relegation zone for the past few weeks.
Gor Mahia will kick off their campaign against Thika United on Sunday at Thika municipal stadium.
what happened with the green or white jersey
GM MPESA BUSINESS A/C.
Dear EC, Sometimes due to constraints,b it time, finances or protest against high away gate charges that don’t benefit GM I opt 2 follow my team frm the sofaset.Despite this i stil feel that as a staunch supporter i must still pay my normal match fee 4 EVERY GM GAME B IT HOME/AWAY.I bet many fans outside NBI n in the diaspora r in a similiar fix. Thats y 4 the umpteenth tym i beg u to urgently open the above account us. The money i pay is not free but u may use it as follows:
contd… 4 every 10/=
1.2/= or 20% goes towards player development e.g bonuses personal financial responsibility, team discipline etc
2.20% 4 Coaches development-in hse refresher courses e.g to address our md/field n scoring problems etc
3.The remaining 60% goes to my account which i can redeem to pay my membership, merchandise e.g GREEN ADIDAS JERSEY etc.The above is possible since we now pay insurance, pension etc by mpesa. Please consider the above request.
Thx
This czone is bad 4 us mombasa kogala fans coz no team frm coast is in the league but am asking the SG 2 do something so that we can stil help the team in anyway
I read in some article last month that the mpesa a/c will soon be ready so i’m still expecting it.my hope that kogalo start on the right foot this time round.
LET THE SAMBA BEGIN
I am extremely excited with lots of butterflies in my stomach as we await the first whistle of the 2012 KPL season to be blown.
Our all time great K’ogalo will open it’s campaign at Thika Municipal stadium with their host, Thika United. Thika Municipal Stadium has over the years brought to us a mix of fortunes. On Sunday, we will go for a win that will be a pyshological boost to mainly our forever restless fans.
With 8 new signings to boast for, we believe the new team has what it takes to start this season on a high note. I do not want to speculate who among our players gonna be in the starting 11. I have confidence in each our players and also will definately rise to the ocassion.
Good people of K’ogalo. Let the samba begin. I am equally excited about the new season and I can’t wait to watch the matches. For those of you gracious ladies and gentlemen who are joining us for the first time, I extend a warm hand of welcome to you all.
Phew! Administrator you got! Rama is actually Zinadine Zidane.
Dear Gor Mahia family let us all embrace this nick name for this great young man. This could be the best gift ever that we could give him; one that will connect him with K’ogalo for ever.
Okoth Jabilo “what sayest thou?”
@Oduor12 in posts 1 & 2 that is a point worth pondering with possibility of exploring.
We want our Lovely kits back, Dont start the season with Blue tuzo,White tuzo or or Green Tuzo if u do, this season is domed. Advice ua young chair that uniforms do alot in a match there the spirit has actually refused Kanyamwa gor
Am very exited and i can’t wait to see my K’ogalo.Did you know that Gor had won the league13 times, followed by Afc 11 times ,Tusker 9 and others. The question is who will match The mighty MAHIA.for more inf. Visit http://www.kenyapremierleague.ke.co.
Weah do they sell the tickets coz am just from G4S and there is nothing.accroding to futaa.com,THIKA UNITED said there tickets wl sell frm G4S.plz alert me
I have a suggestion for the EC many teams are out to milk money from the Green Army therefore we must also device a way to milk them. Teams are moving their home matches to nairobi so as to reap gate collection..as a way of rewarding our Coast, Kisumu, rift valley funs lets take some of our home games to this areas this will mean this teams incur extra cost to come to this games losing the money they stole from us thru high gate collections..
Mafans we ave waitd 4 long and the big kick-off is here wth us. Coach AA and Co, we mst hit the ground running. Masika is satisfied wth mediocrity, and I hope non of our playrs ar going 4 a draw bcz its an away game. Thank you God 4 you have brought us ths far. Good luck Gor Mahia.
Let us givr our team maximum support. Let us pray to God to give us victory over all our advesaries.
This season we fans must behave and stop all manners of hooliganisms.
Kogalo family, let’s meet in Thika and cheer our mighty club to a 3 nil win! See u there.
I wish Mighty K’galo an all conquering n successful season. To the team captains insist on leading the team in acknowledging fans’ blessings b4 the start of EACH GAME and also this season at the end of each game.Always wear GREEN kit coz as Ogango T says it signifies our style to move the ball on green carpet, which is easy on the neck n pleases the eye,as opposed to the irritating blue n white coz K’galo isn’t known 4 ‘sky n cloud’ soccer. To asst. capt Moses emulate Drogba/Katongo.God Bless al G.MAHIANS
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU
In the next 30 minutes i will be attending manna hour service at my local church, Goshen, Kiserian. At around the same time, the green army will start a sojourn to the land pinneaples to rally behind their team as take on Thika United.
I feel sad for not making this trip. However, my prayers are with you. Martin L King junior once remarked , ‘give me a platform to stand and Am gonna shake the world’ The field has been laid just for you. This is where we expect you to shake the football world. The confederation cup is about to get underway.
I’ll be back in the evening for a post match analysis. Watch this space for a grand rlanch of GM Kajiado county branch. It will second to none. I promise.
R.I.P Whitney Houston even as we look forward to celebrating our victory over Thika United and a Zambia victory against Ivory Coast.
gor mpaka thika
GOR MAHIA KENYATTA UNIVERSITY MAIN CAMPUS BRANCH.{FACEBOOK} has also left to join the green army in thika land of pinnaeaples. its a win and we are here to ensure our army wins this match.
Gor 2, Thika utd 0.
Great result Gor Mahia. Gatusso was the real man of the match. Goalkeeper was very poor with high and long balls particularly set pieces. Mapunda should be a better replacement.
Meanwhile RIP Whitney Houston. You were a heroine.
Houston was the only artist to chart seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits (“Saving All My Love for You”, “How Will I Know”, “Greatest Love of All”, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, “Didn’t We Almost Have It All”, “So Emotional” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go”). She was the second artist behind Elton John and the only female artist to have two number-one Top Billboard 200 Album awards (formerly “Top Pop Album”) on the Billboard magazine year-end charts. Houston’s 1985 debut album Whitney Houston, became the best-selling debut album by a female act at the time of its release. The album was named Rolling Stone?’s best album of 1986, and was ranked at number 254 on Rolling Stone?’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.[7] Her second studio album Whitney (1987), became the first album by a female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.[7] Houston’s crossover appeal on the popular music charts as well as her prominence on MTV, starting with her video for “How Will I Know”,[8] influenced several African-American female artists to follow in her footsteps.[9][10]
On February 11, 2012, Houston died of unknown causes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.[12]TMZ reported, “Sources tell us … when EMTs arrived Whitney’s body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD’d, drowned or died from some other cause.”

A great start Kogalo. Pongezi for the boys from a fan here in Bamako, Mali.
Point tatu. Congrats
One down fourteen to go. Dan Makori was impressive through and through. After quite a long wait there is so much promise in our attack force finally.
Coach Anaba Awono credit must be given where it is due: you demonstrated better strategy, purpose and team tactics in today’s game. Thank you mzee. Give us even more of this next time. Just set a precedent of improving our away record the way you have begun.

EXCELLENT START GUYS
Well done boys.
What a good way to start the season three maximum points. As I reported earlier, Thika municipal stadium is a place of mixed fortunes . Today was our day.
As usual, let me start by saluting the travelling fans painting Thika town green. Their unwavering support is unparalleled. Our comrade, Eric all the way from Bamako, Mali is much welcomed. Distance is no longer a hinderance. We welcome not only your message of goodwill but also resources especially now our club is just about to fly out to Maputo for a caf confederetion cup match.
The players also deserve my earliest commendation for playing their hearts out during the match. While I saw flashes of individual brilliance, the boys also played tacktifully which created several chances for us. Teacher Makori of Ndururumo primary school was my man of the match. Always composed but with a strong fighting spirit. I must also congratulate Hugo Nzioka for the goal. It really shows our bet is already paying off.
Finally to all the fans of W. Houston, my condolence to you all. But does her death ring a bell to us especially when it is rumored he died under heavy dose of drugs ? I leave the question for you to ponder. Perhaps as a rejoinder, can we have one of our branches take up this matter and educate the masses through flyers the dangers of these drugs. Food for thought though.
