Akumu doubtful as Moses Otieno returns

Gor Mahia will likely miss the services of  Anthony ‘Viera’ Akumu who is nursing a thigh strain.

“Akumu is injured and I’m not sure he will make it for the match against Muhoroni. He will be assessed by the medical team on Friday and my hope is that they declare him fit for the match,” Logarusic told supersport.com.

Logarusic expressed hope that Akumu would pass a late fitness test : “We are in a very dangerous situation now with some of our key players injured and it will be disastrous if Akumu stays out for long.”

Raphael Kiongera and Innocent Mutiso are already out injured.  The return of Edwin Lavatsa and Moses Otieno will however boost Kogalo. Lavatsa had found a rich vein of form at the beginning of the season that saw him cement a place in the national team. Fans will hope that he can regain that form and end Gor Mahia’s scoring drought.

“Lavatsa has recovered from the foot injury and will play against Muhoroni. Moses Otieno might also come in incase Akumu is declare unfit for the game,” Logarusic told supersport.

Moses Otieno looked very promising when he joined from Tusker and was knocking on the door of the national team. But he has since lost his form.

Standing at position 10 out of 16 but within striking distance of league leaders Sofapaka, fans hope that Kogalo will pull up their socks this weekend.

  • Give Moses Otieno more opportunities through squad rotation, the lad is good but benching him does not improve his game.

  • OKAY, OKAY , OKAY , OKAY ! ALRIGHT. IF WE LOOSE OR DRAW AGAINST MUHORONI ( YOU CAN BET WE WILL ), NO EXCUSE THAT WE WERE MISSING ‘KEY PLAYERS’.

  • How will the return of Moses Otieno boost K’galo when he has HAS NEVER MADE the starting eleven since Mr.Loga took over coaching.
WHERE DO THESE PLAYERS GET “INJURED”
    1. Goal Keeper No.3 Onyango-who is not even given a chance to train.
    2. Abby Natty
    3. Lavasta- Not a favourite of TB until of late but always injury prone
    4. Mutiso- same as above
    5. Mr. K’galo himself Kiongera even though Dan “Flava” and Rama scored more goals them him last season.
As my fellow hell-mate put it someone has reached the end of his thinking capacity. Cmon you are paid 5 times more (maybe even 10 times) than most coaches. We expect to see K’galo 10 times better then other TPL teams. You’ve had the time 2 years is not a short time.
Expect Muhoroni to pack & lock game so beta have an ANTIDOTE

My friends now u can see the TB is trying to prepare u for anything so that if we loose against mufron they will say they told us bfore that we av many players injured,GOR have more than 20 players if lets say 6 are injured we still have like 20 who can do the duty,we have enough players we dont want xcuses we must demand for the results we cant wast money and time going all the way to nakuru then we loose ati becouse some player are injured,no way

  • Fellow fans, It’s good to expect positive results always but the way we are now going on, demanding that we must beat Muhoroni is what raises tension even on the players. What we are forgetting is that players for teams like Muhoroni will give 150% commitment when playing the BIG boys. On injuries we all know that we have alot of them which happens in football but unlike teams like AFC and Tusker do we have an insurance package for our players? I doubt so. Why don’t some of our fans who are in a position get us such a package? the answer might be that most corpate companies have reservation dealing with our team. Corporates like Resolution Health or AAR are happier associating with the Rugby clubs or clubs like Mathare in the case of Real insurance. Do we ever ask ourselves those questions?
On the usage of our ‘fringe’ players like Abby, Moses/David Otieno etc I think we should use them more frequently but as fans we should also be patient with them. I hear some vibes against these players whenever they are fielded and you wonder if these are the same fans who advocate for rotation. We need to decide whether we want a rotation policy with its consequences for which I advocate.
For us to reach where we want to be, one of the best in Africa we must learn to be patient even when things are not going our way. Even Barca is coming down from the tower so what would make us different.

If mufron can give 150% why not our team?

    Reply
  • It’s true Dan what you say but why can’t our own players also give 150% against the so called small teams.

What is making fans make noise and doubt Loga is the kind of soccer we are playing currently. It looks disjointed and that is unexpected of a team that has been together so long. Our heritage has been of the Arsenal of Kenya. Sexy soccer that we can brag about when taking one or two at Kataro or Kuche Kuche. The team tends to really struggle even where we get wins. Don’t you agree?

Dan haven’t you ever felt like if the opposition had our fans we would be thrashed everyday?

Maybe as fans we need to debate whether we should play ugly, survive, win or draw or we need to play sexy, entertaining soccer and not win any trophies but get the travelling and paying fans entertained.

There are not so many rewards for winning anything and that is the reason why i prefer the sexy soccer with no trophy for now. Top 8 prize money is gate collection for one league game. Why can’t we just ignore it? FKF Cup is the other mediocre competition. The club suffers losses for participating. The league is still the most meaningful but not because of the prize money but because it keeps fans entertained for many months.

I propose that Kogalo only takes part in the league and hopefully CECAFA and CAF. Secondly i propose that the club invests in scouts so we make player sales to Europe our main objective in a 5-10 year plan.

  • @CV I agree with you that Top 8 is a waste of time. However FKF cup is bloody important.
Also dissapointed that Kogalo does not feature in CECAFA, a tournament where the team has a strong tradition.

I agree with fans who say this is a must win. This team demands players who do not wilt under pressure. If you cant thrive under pressure basi go play for KCB like Ezekiel Wikileaks.
Loga must get this team to play good football and win. Even with all the injuries, Kogalo still has the best players. There is no excuse. Sigining new players wont help. Who will they sign ?

Ooh Laa la!! ” WELCOME TO GOR MAHIA HELL-BRANCH”.

@ ‘Half Life’ you were curiously wondering how i failed to make it in the initial Comrade PAREYIO 2013 “HELL-BOUND” dispatch list despite my contradictory posting with regards to our teams performance and particular LOGA to be precise.

My comrade @ Half Life to be fair with you, i have nothing personal against the coach , but my concern is the dwindling performance trend that needs to be checked the soonest possible to avoid the last minute flukes for the TPL 2013 tile.

Otherwise i was personally dispatched to HELL sometimes last year together with my comardes like Mac Ochan Mar Piny ,Eblazing , Eblazing Diva, Agwa Kassam, Jackowili amongst many others. For the sake of clarification i have been lonely maintaining the “HELL-BRANCH” after my comrades deserted me through salvation and scriptures from none other than APOSTLE MWAKIO in the land of “DAWIDA”.

AS you know when Paul saw the light he changed his name Saul and so is for my comrades like “Jackowili” who was renamed “Barefoot Bandit” upon salvation, same case applies Agwa Kassam who is Kassam Mwavingano, the same case PAREYIO OLE LERUE from the land of “MAA” who nowadays is our Inspector General and popular known as PAREYIO 2013.

@”Half Life” please tell Inspector General that am yet to receive the HELL BOUND victims officially. ARE THEY STILL ON EARTH?. Here in hell there is no pre-trial or trial chambers once we receive the dispatch notice from Inspector general.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND GUYS AND LET US HOPE WE FOR POSITIVE RESULT ON SATO GOD WILLING. BUT WE BETTER WIN “YAWA”.

Brothers & sisters i can see CV is really trying to bring about the long forgotten concept of good football. We may play a good game without winning at times but you will see fighting spirit and skills that draws you to the stadium for the next game. I don’t mean we play without winning but good football is important. On loga, i just do not understand why some people feel pained so much at the mention of his name! Loga has a free hand with the team and players but questions will always abound on you when involved with a team with following like GM. One readily asked question is how come cala’bar could star in uganda and against Naijja whilst at GM he was a fringe player? And now musa! You wonder why our game is always dull and a survival venture but it looks like we’re stuck with same systems. The only different thing about us is the excuses we give for the scenario! Surely if the opponent knows your strikers and your unchanging day in day out system of play including quarter an hour subs how do you survive? Of course you do through thick and thin. The tech bench must re invent the wheel!

It is always a win 4r these so called small teams whenever they play 2 a baren draw with k’ogalo. So what we r telling Loga is that we dont expect 2 draw with any team in this region (CECAFA region). If he knows that he cannot do that then he should just humbly resign from that hottest seat in Africa bcos I dont think that there is any other seat in Africa which is hotter than that of Gor Mahia coach. we would rather have a coach who earns less such that even if he draws it is understandable,

The high number of injuries being reported is a worrying trend. Anthony ‘Viera’ Akumu has been instrumental in the midfield and his services will greatly be missed if he fails the fitness test.

But of course, there should be no cause for alarm.

I am happy to hear Lavatsa is back and he may be the man to hunt for goals at Afraha stadium, Nakuru. Our boys are fully aware of the gigantic task ahead of them and i’m sure they’ll rise to the ocassion. I wish our team and travelling fans success and God’s journey mercies.

Finally, i am sorry i have stirred up a hornest nest by naming the usual suspects who’ve been piling pressure to coach Logarusic to deliver maximum points at every match. However if they’ve found fit to start a branch, good riddance! On a more serious note, I think this was just a joke taken abit far. Please let’s remain focused on matters that’ll propel this club to greater heights of success.

@Pareyio 2013 son of the land of the brave; your kind of breed is an asset to any community. Any society that hopes for a future must have men and women say exactly what they mean. You are that kind of man. You need not retract your earlier ‘order’ nor need you feel remorseful. You are an icon in this blogpost and you did not get that position of honour on a silver platter: you earned it. The “hornet’s nest” that you stirred is good for this blog. Relax man. No one took offence. Please note that we the Hell Four and now new members of GOR MAHIA HELL BRANCH took it lightly and chose to turn it into satire which I believe is good for this blog at times.

You gave an executive order as the Inspector General and we promtly obliged. We learnt that there was a short cut through Hell’s Gate and that is the route we took.that explains how we reached hell in record time. Indeed we feel indebted to you. Son of the land of the brave, were it not for you this youngest K’Ogalo branch would not have been born. Thanks to you, I can now face my grandchildren and proudly tell them that my zeal for Gor Mahia has literally seen me to hell and back. By the way, I have learnt that Hell is such an vast territory and that is why we have not been able to meet Ogango Trailer. Now that we know he is there, we shall try to establish contact. May I state that for the few days we have been here, we have kept ourselves busy by critically analysing GM’s performance. We will soon make recommendations to sharpen the striking department. Perhaps it would interest you to know that if there is company I’ve missed so far then it is that of Pareyio 2013, Ogango Trailer and Arrumtiddi. Stay well great man let us soldier on.

Your truly signing off from Hell.

  • LOGA is right to mourn about the piling cases of injuries in Gor Mahia. But has it occurred to him that most of these injuries have been self inflicted and might have been avoided if care was taken on players’ treatment. Most of these injuries will keep on recurring as long as LOGA and his TB are not willing to rotate the players regularly and when needed. Can anyone tell me how many minutes the 1st eleven players have been on the pitch since LOGA was hired? I suspect that some of these players were put to play through pain barriers during our push to win Last year’s KPL title. These injuries will continue to manifest themselves especially on players like Rama, Danny, Dube, Teddy, Njuguna, Lavatsa, Mosoti and even Jerry. The above named players put in a great shift last year to try And help us win the title. Their names are still the first names on LOGA’s line-ups. Without proper follow up treatment of our players, and squad rotation, Gor Mahia will be lucky to have a half fit squad to choose from towards the business-end of the season. Gor Mahia doesn’t have the luxury of signing players for sentimental purposes. Such luxuries exists in Chelsea and Man City. Wayne Bridge and Santa Cruz are still Man City players while Mauluda is still at Chelsea. We should maintain a lean and efficient squad of 25 talented players. This will ensure that ALL our players actually plays to earn their pay. The ball is on LOGA’s court to ensure that he doesn’t reduce our very talented players such as Musa Mhmd, D.Otieno, Yusuf Juma, Moses Otieno, Anguyo, Abbey, Mutiso and the 3rd choice GK into fringe players. The coaches’ work is to ensure that he brings all the players in the team to the same level. Kindly Turn non performers into performers Mr. Coach for you to earn our respect. Callabar aka D. Owino, until his performances in Uganda and Nigeria was a fringe player in LOGA’s team. Why? Over to you Mr Coach. We long to see the Gor Mahia of yesteryears, capable of beating both Shabana and Scarlet on the same weekend. All made possible by recruitment of talented players and rotation of the players.

Wishing Akumu and the rest of those already in the injury list quick recovery. However, this could be a clear and rare opportunity to give other players chance to showcase their talents at @ 1 Pod Antie puts it pointing to one player (Moses Otieno).

@2 jakoyo – it is true the injury by Akumu should not be an excuse for not beating Muhoroni as he has played all the past six matches and we’ve been complaining of same mid-field that he mans. At the same time let us give today’s match an open minded approach.

@ 3 ODUOR12 – don’t worry. All these players are good. Look at Mutiso whom we have been benching when he was given a chance…

@4 Erico Jarae – this is just mind game. Don’t be surprised to see Akumu playing in today’s match. There should be no excuse for losing, unless someone is only having faith in about 5 players.

@ 5 Dan – I agree with you. However, our boys equally need to put more effort; nothing good comes easy.

@ 6 Erico Jarae – maybe our players are now used to the coach. When they ‘feared’ the coach they gave each game 150% and that is how we managed to be serious title contenders last year. All the same, this year we will lift the trophy.

@ 7 Creative Village- you are right; fans are meant to keep the technical bench on checks always, therefore meaningful remarks are necessary but not actual/physical fights.

@ 8 Joe Riaga – I agree with you that we have the best players and solution to our current problem is not necessarily going to be put to a halt by signing new players.

@ 9 OGANGO TRAILER – as Pareiyo has clarified in later posting, he did not mean it that much. On our part, let us give the coach a chance. What many fans are confusing is pay with performance. It all depends with how much you negotiate. What if Logarusic was helping GM for free, don’t you think we will not expect any good results? Food for the thought.

@ 10 Kassam Mwivangano – we wont mind a dull display as long as we are winning/scoring. Beautiful football minus goals is not going to help.

@ 11 michael odhiambo ogolo – you are right sir.

@ 12 Pareyio 2013 – I concur with you on the injury issue. Is it the type of training or what is the real problem? I remember Logarusic refused pre-season tour to Nyanza to avoid injuries but then it’s becoming too heavy on us.

@ 13 Barefoot Bandit – Pareiyo was not that serious on the Hell issue but at least i’ve seen it has added some humour which is positive.

@ 14 Le Pastre – we need time to be the Gor Mahia of yester-years. It is difficult but possible.
