CAF encounter preparations
By Sunday, four Gor Mahia strikers were already nursing long term injuries. Baldwin Ngwa, Demonde Selenga and George Midenyo were injured recently. Edwin Lavatsa is till nursing a long term injury. On Sunday Hugo Nzoka became the latest casualty as he limped off with a thigh injury. All this leaves Coach Awono with limited options upfront. He may be forced to field a non-traditional strikeforce with players like Dan Makori and perhaps Moses Odhiambo. Unfortunately Anthony Otieno is ineligible due to his late signing, thus leaving Gor Mahia with no traditional strikers. On a positive note, this could be an opportunity for players like Duncan Owiti “Macheda” and Kiplagat to step up and save the day.
Gor Mahia will leave for Maputo on Friday. They will have one training session at the stadium in Maputo on the day before the game. Kogalo will also hold a training session at City stadium to simulate the artificial playing surface in Maputo. Fans will be hoping that Awono comes up with a solution to the defence which appeared shaky. That defence could soak 3 goals in an away encounter and leave the team with a mountain to climb. Just ask Ingwe who conceded 3 goals away in Ethiopia last year.
Regarding the injuries, Gor Mahia should consider seeking the advice of a trained physiotherapist or other medical professional. Whenever a team is plagued by injuries, it is sometimes a symptom of over-training and lack of sufficient rest between training sessions. Players need to give their muscles time to recover
It is very unfortunate that we are getting injuries at this crucial time.
Well, we thank God that we now have a big squad and players like Duncan Owiti, Kevin Omondi, Ibrahim Kitawi, Peter Juma can come in and win us games.
When is Baldwin Ngwa and Edwin Lavasta coming back? How long will Midenyo and Hugo Nzoka be out?
On defence, the duo Moseti and Anguyo seem to be playing in similair position. However, Musa Mohamed can player very well on the central defence position.
Eiishhhhhh!!!!!!! Injuries gani hizi? Hope kipla, machedaa and daddy can step in well and deliver. Safe journey and believe we can win there. Keep it up boys., pong these r men!!! Good luck
. . .will be leaving for Maputo this Saturday morning and am happy that I can speak Portuguese xo I will be able to watch the game and commentate to you who know no Portuguese at all! . . .For God and my club.
THIS PIECE IS UNINSPIRING
How uninspiring is this piece!
There is no denying the fact that most of our dependable players are nursing injuries but to allege that our defence is weak is an understatement and quite uninspiring.
The editors of this blog including pacho will add no value to the club if he continue to post such good fo nothing articles. At this point in time right from the officals down to the fans, there is a need to psyche everyone for the daunting task ahead. Not just in fundraising initiatives but also the mental strength during the
I understand this Maputo team is difficult to beat at home…in fact they haven’t lost at home in continental soccer since 2006, thrashing Supersport United 3-nil at some point. The good news is they have a very poor away record and so Kogalo can strategise and squeeze a win or a scoring draw and return home happy to finish them off in the 2nd leg. All the best to the team even though they have so many injuries upfront, we can do it, this is our year.
@ pareyio: The defence is shaky and needs work. Fans need to hear the truth, not to be inspired with lies. Even Awono admits that he needs to work on the defence.
Jerim in goal also needs to be careful. If he keeps palming the ball into the opposing teams path, they will punish him.
I have witnessed the purpoted doctor who wears scandals on trhe pitch and cant even run, thanx to the young assistant. Kogalo, please be proffessional on the pitch.
secondly, Pro- our trainer, wear the right gear on the pitch.
you are a serious ridicule!!!!
Guys akina Anguyo and Mosoti did a good job. Musa Muhamed last year was scrap and is still way unstable he made us loose alot of games remeber KCB we were 2 goals up and he sold us . Guys our defence was good in thika unless you guys were a sleep ama ur the guys who run around the field and never even watch the game.
Salapata Salawowo where have been? Happy new year and welcome on board. Safe journey to Maputo.
I surely shall be at Estadio de Machava on Sato to support Mighty Gor.
