Fatigue cited in Muhoroni match

Courtesy of futaa.com

Gor Mahia’s assistant coach Bobby Ogolla has admitted that Gor Mahia players may have suffered from bits of fatigue during their match against Muhoroni FC on Sunday afternoon at the City Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Ogolla assured that the team would work on the areas of weakness noted from the match ahead of their approaching encounters.

Slowed down performance

-The players did not give their usual display in the match but we will be back to our level before we meet AFC Leopards in the semis.

-The players lost some crucial balls in the match but we will correct all those areas when we get back to camp.

K’ogalo despite failing to convert their chances managed to advance into the semis of the FK Cup tournament via a 4-2 win over Muhoroni Youth.

They will meet AFC Leopards who saw off Karuturi Sport on Saturday 6th October 2012.

Gor Mahia Coach Zdravko Logarusic says he is happy that the team has qualified for the Semi Finals of the FKF Cup, putting them in line for a second piece of silverware after winning the KPL Top 8 Cup last month.

Though he was not pleased with how the team played, the Croat is pleased that they are into the semi finals.

“You cannot always play good football to win. Sometimes its scrappy but the most important thing is that we won the match. We were a little bit lucky winning on penalties but I feel we should have wrapped up the game in 90 minutes considering the number of chances we lost,” Logarusic told michezoafrika.com.

“They also lost a lot of chances in the first half and you know in a Cup competition, there are no favorites. Each team is equal. We now look at the Semi Finals against Leopards next weekend and we will plan accordingly for that,” he adds.

On Victor Ali’s injury that forced him out with 30 minutes left on the clock;

“We will need to have a look at him but it does not look very good. We have to wait for tests from the doctor,”

Its going to be tough but look where we’ve come from. I put it down to 3 factors:
1.Harambee Stars training could be interrupting our schedule,
2.We train at City stadium maybe opponents have time to study all our moves,
3.The squad may need some fine tuning an addition here or there e.g attacking midfield.Though am impressed by the progress of AA, we also to improve on our aerial attacks. Thats y we nid Logarusic long term.
    Just my thoughts

FANS CONTRIBUTE KSHS. 16.5 MILLION TO GOR COFFERS

K’galo’s financial constraints are not a revenue but rather a management problem.
Let me first congratulate the Gor Mahia fraternity in particular the technical bench, players and fans for the splendid show over the past couple of weeks. The team for delivering on the pitch and fans for delivering on the stands and financial front. Below is a tabulation of the gate collections for GMFC’s home games so far:

FKL Matches – This is pure theft as FKF keep 40% of gate collections, after deduction of expenses, and the teams share the balance of 60% I,e 30% each. Why does our EC allow such a deal when they know the cost of running a team of Gor Mahia’s stature?

  • giving u two the benefit of doubt but i’m not impressed. apart from the defence which has shown some level of maturity and general descipline, the team has not developed much from zico days. i have supported logar but i’m now getting worried…especially with the display or character being shown from players like rama and odhiambo. yes you do not have to play good football all the time but the signs of technical approach while attacking have to be seen. fatigue is an excuse especially after two weeks rest. apart from a strategy of taking corners… hizo zingine on the attack formation(finishing) simply look imaginary so far. is the dead wood charcater now eating sofapaka being experienced at gor? … at least the sofapaka coach has seen the problem. gor players pls pull your socks if u want to get anywhere in africa. with what is happening now even e and central will be out of reach, but as i said before the afc and tusker matches will tell it all. i hope i am wrong.

i partly agree with Dinga no.2.Some of our players who are guaranteed a starting role are beginning to take things for granted!lets not use fatigue as an excuse because other teams have been playing matches too.The players need to pull up now or else we wont have a chance of lifting the 2 trophies at stake.Lets leave the show boating and all to the day we will be lifting the trophies!

  • Dinga, some of your observations are right but let’s try and generate positive energy in the team or our tower will crumble. Haven’t you noticed that since the Army heard that General Logarusic was leaving, our play is not as good anymore. The announcement was ill timed.

Let us encourage the boys to continue enjoying themselves and win, one game at a time. Don’t you agree that they have performed beyond expectations? Or have the expectations just changed?

    Congratulations everybody for the win.
Fellow bloggers and everybody at gor mahia,i wish to bring to your attention some very disturbing incidences which occured yesterday.
Yesterday, after the match,i remained behind as i waited for the crowds to ease.
As i came out, there was a group of people who were beating up members of public at the stalls next to the stadium along jogoo road. These people were wearing green t-shirts written ‘gor mahia digital branch’.Somebody alerted gor mahia security team. The gor mahia stewards gave chase and managed to apprehend four of the ‘gor mahia digital branch ‘ members whom they handed over to the police, but not before ‘working’ thoroughly on the digital branch members. It took the intervention of bobby ogolla to save the four from further beatings.
There is somebody somewhere who is sponsoring goons to masquarade as kogallo fans, cause chaos and violence and have gor,or perhaps a particular presidential candidate to be blamed. These, people where so organised, and really executed their duties with precision.
Admin kindly liase with the EC,and follow up on this matter. This is a well calculated scheme to discredit gor and people who are associated with gor mahia.

Good people of K’Ogalo, your observations may be correct but I urge you to remember where we have come from. Remember the darkest hour of night is just before dawn. We are almost there. I urge everyone to keep the faith we have had in this team and support it like never before.

If we are basing our reaction on the Muhoroni match then we should not forget that it was the Muhoroni GK that actually kept his team in the game. The boy was in some exceptional form.

@Vincent Ocampo and @Arrumtiddi I share in yuor concern. The bhang smokers are doing our brand so much harm. I was at Kasarani on 22 during the derby and what I saw left me speechless. Believe you me the ones doing the bhang at Kasarani were members of the fair gender. Yaani our sisters. Women. Maajabu ya Musa. I just don’t know where this world is heading.

  • We all agree that we have not been exceptional for the last few games but that’s how life is. All we need to do is cheer and encourage the team more than never before. I like the saying by Barefoot Bandit that ‘darkest hour of night is just before dawn’. On bang smoking we all know it’s criminal and therefore only the law enforcers are better equiped to deal with that. Have tried on many occassions to complain about them at the stadium but to no avail, almost fallig victim to the same gang

One major problem with our football is that we are too short sighted. The two major clubs are currently doing well in the league but their strategies are too short term. Look at GM, they are not sure of keeping the coach and you can see no long term planning for future squads. Do we have scouts in GM? How will they bring in players when the coach’s contract is short term? Ama we win the league then rest on our laurels?? Same issue with AFC

GM, sort out the future of the coach and the rest will fall in place. He will then focus on structures that will keep the club afloat for the next few years. Today, SAF can leave Man United (or AW can leave Arsenal) and they will still challange (I am careful not to use the word “win”) for trophies. That is because their future is guaranteed so they have time to set foundations.

We need the same in GM.

  • Fellow bloggers, I feel you completely. About the thugs, I witnessed the last match at Nyayo on Wednesday and believe you me, there was a big group of thugs mascarrading like like fans but they don’t even watch the game. The likes who climb the long fence to enter the pitch. Players are not allowed to shared good time with opponents. This behaviour is barbaric, primitive and should not be allowed

I think in order to reduce the risk of fatique, it’s high time we rest Rama, Ssurukuma, Moses Odhiambo and Musoti in some matches and instead use Lavatsa, Imbem, Moses Otieno and Mohammed Musa so that they take a one match rest. In fact in the last 2 matches we’ve really struggled but I still have a strong conviction that we will take the remaining two trophies (TPL & FKF).

Second suggestion – we need to treat opponents equally lest we get embarrassment from these ‘small/basement’ teams. Otherwise so far so good and we need to keep the fire burning; furthermore in TPL there are fewer matches as opposed to England where players take part in so many matches therefore there should be no excuse/room of fatigue

Arrumtiddi@9 you are very right. I really do not understand how some of us were brought up. People sometimes behave in such silly ways and you wonder how little money can ruin an iddle mind, people who have given up in their own future and lives for nothing. They want the green army to look bad but at the end they will fail. Surely, we always look shaky at the defence all the time we are attack. Akumu has not been up to the task lately but lets keep the fire burning.

‘The darkest hour’ is the best way to describe it. Thanks barefoot. But the boys should know that this is the time champions are determined, when it looks so near yet so far. When character is called for. We have come from an impossible position when we were playing for survival, true I never thought even one bit that we could place ourselves in a position to win the title, but it never crossed mind that we could be relegated. But here we are, fought so hard, breathless, bleeding, but with victory in sight. We must not relent. 4 more games in the league. One game at a time.
On the bang smokers and hooligans, it’s not the police who can rid them off our stadiums, but our own security. If it comes from us, they will soon realize that we don’t identify with them. If we send the police, then they will gain sympathy support from the rest of the crowd, u know Gor fans and the police are like oil and water. We are developing slowly, we’ll get there. I look forward to the days when Gor fans will be able to pay 1000 shillings for VIP and 500 shillings for Russia and still fill the stadium. That’s the day you’ll know that bang smokers will be excluded and hired hooligans will not have a place in the stadium. An our players and coaches will be assured of better pay for their entertainment. That’s the day I’ll bring my pretty daughters to the stadium because I know they’ll not inhale bang or listen to dirty words renting the air. And I don’t mean the choir, just the bang smokers an their ilk.
Can we raise the charges next season? Serously?

@Orito and the rest. Avoid critisizing individual players. They play as a team. Picking out individual players for criticism derails their morale. Leave that for the coach to do that in the dressing room. For your information, have you ever heard the gaffer pick single players for scolding? He does that withing the 4 corners of the dressing room.

The Kenya Police must spring into action promptly before things fall too far apart. We have put up with this non sense for far too long. I assure bloggers that not very few of us are against action taken on the good for nothing bhang smokers. If anything not even 10% of us take bhang.

It is upon the EC to announce a ban on Bhang smoking at the Stadia then the rest of us will identify the actors caught in the act and alert the Police for timely and effective action..No one will protect the hooligans from action as most fans are against this horror.

I agree that we’ve not played well in the recent past but let’s join hands in honoring our Almighty father in and of Heavens and earth for his unmeasurable favour and kindness to us who are just mere mortals.

I’ve said before and i’ll repeat let’s cheer the team and avoid pressurising our boys unnecessarily.

did anyone watch Man Uniteg against liverpool.. Liverpool dominated the match but united won. That’s the mentality in GOR. We are winning. There’s pressure on our players to Keep on winning so the least we should do is to support and encourage them on the pitch not sitting pretty enjoying on the terrances and critising them on the blogs…Let’s recall that at some point most of us would have been content with a top 5 finish… now we are assured of a top 3 finish…so let support the team to go for a top 1 finish and have the bragging rights of banking a treble….

    Sorry bloggers ignore comments @ 3,6 & 8
    Contd…
    Conclusion:
1.By the end of the season the fans will most likely be the number one sponsor for the club. That’s why to me fans jerserys should always bear the brand Gor Mahia on our chests.
2.How does the EC manage these and other funds e.g Tuzo sponsorship, supersport T.V rights and now TPL sponsorship. The money is definitely there and it should be managed prudently. Remember the saying you cut your suit or dress according to the size of your cloth. From George Bwana’s “financials” its cost about kshs.60,000 per day to run GMFC so how does the EC agree to FKF keeping 40% of the revenue and Top 8 secretariat to pay GM only kshs.100,000 for match preparation. The least GMFC can accept to participate in these tournaments is kshs.240,000 per match(remember GM provides the fans) since it takes about 4 days to prepare for a match. The only other way out is for the E.Ks to provide housing for our coaches but the again coaches don’t eat beautiful apartments.
3.As I suggested before, one to the top most priorities of the EC (which should downsize itself to a 6-8 non executive board) is to work on transforming this fan base into a contributing membership. As many have suggested member contributions of kshs.1-5-10 per day can raise substantial funds. BUT TRANPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ARE KEY. NOBOBY WILL CONTRIBUTE TO AN OPAQUE OFFICE WHO DEFAULT ON PLAYER ALLOWANCES,CAN’T RETAIN A PERFORMING COACH ETC.
4.K’GALO FANS MAKE SUPERSPORT WANT TO TELEVISE GM’S MATCHES,FANS ACTUALLY ATTRACTED LOGARUSIC TO GM, LOGARUSIC & GOOD TECHNICAL BENCH=GOOD TEAM=ATTRACTIVE SOCCER/ WINNING MATCHES=INCREASED ATTENDANCE=MORE MONEY TO RUN CLUB. ITS ONLY AN EC WITH VESTED INTERESTS THAT CAN JEOPARDIZE THIS WIN WIN CONDITION.
5.EC SHOULD BY ALL MEANS AVOID DOUBLE HEADERS,HAVE ITS HOME GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND, RESTRICT CUTS BY FKF/SSMBVESTED INTERESTS THAT CAN JEOPARDIZE THIS WIN WIN CONDITION.

  • COMRADE ODUOR12: LEAVE THE FIGURES TO THE OFFICIALS

    HI comrade Oduor12,

Whilst i laud your effort to try and present figures of Gor Mahia for most of this season, but we have and elected office and is the only one sanctioned to release such figures to the public.

First, your figures are incomplete and not signed. There is glaring omissions of funds received by the club through Supersport and Tuzo and how the each penny was spend,. It is therefore malicious, grossly erroreous to misrepresent facts on this honorable blog. This act also amount to insurbodination.

I repeat. Gor Mahia is a great club that respects the rule of the law and your action only affirms an assumption that certain busybodies are very much alive in our midst. Untill wev get correct figures from the men and women we have entrusted this responsibility, i urge our fans to treat the figures with the contempt it deserves.

Finally, allow me to use this blog to congratulate the Hon, P. O. Alengot, the 19 year old Ugandan who was recently elected to parliament after the death of his father. Her election reaffirm that the youth of Africa are ready to take leadership roles. Over to you young Kenyans!

  • the problem with africa and development: critisizing is not evil, it’s probably the best thing you can do to someone. if they are silent about you then chances are very high you are not known or your contribution is little. so pls mr pareiyo, note that when rama and odhis play well, do you notice that somethng happens, they are praised individualy, rama is good, he is tops etc, so does it mean that rama was playing alone? so whats the problem when he takes criticism? why the accusation that he is being target? far from it, players like rama have alot of influence on the whole team, they moment they start to lose direction it easily takes the whole team down. if u r a star player then u must assume some responsibility, it’s that simple… and we shud not cower from pointing this out, it only helps the player more coz he realises that he’s behaviour will influence others. that’s why we will mention oliech more times than any other player in harambee stars. tiger woods, maradona etc. big profiles carry more responsibilty. the other players in turn need to know that if the star player misbhaves his head gets chopped off. so bloggers, do not be afraid of mentioning names during praises or critisism. critisism is not an insult, as a player, i would be more worried if nobody is mentioning my name. so those of you who are proffesionals in your field, when ppl are pointing at ur shotcomings more, you should have done this, you looked weak, you must be brave and so on… if ur a team and ur getting all the flak… doesn’t this tell you something? if ur positve minded person…

Nice breakdown Oduori, it would be nice if the EC gave a brakdown of expenses. FKF are just abunch of thieves they are virtually doing nothing to help soccer in the country and are just content on leaving all tha work to the big two clubs, no wonder thr FKF cup fixture was mysteriously changed to ensure Gor meet AFC( match fixing if you really think of it)i bet if we lost to Muhoroni they would have found a way to come up with the infamous best losers rule
