FKF cup semis postponed

The eagerly awaited FK Cup semi final matches will not be played on the weekend on Saturday and Sunday 13/14 October after all.
20 – 21 October
Sofapaka is set to take on Tusker while Gor faces off with AFC Leopards in what will be the third meeting between the clubs this year and the Football Kenya Federation has shifted the dates to the weekend of October 20 – 21.
FIFA international week
The change in dates was effected since the earlier communicated dates are within the FIFA international week which according to the World football governing body’s statutes, the days are reserved for national teams’ action, and the federation did not want to violate that.
The Gor Mahia versus AFC Leopards match will thus be held at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday 20 October then Sofapaka will take on Tusker a day later at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani.
The recent shift in dates set aside for the President’s Cup has elicited a number of reactions from concerned parties across the football divide. Gor Mahia, one of the semi finalists in the competition shared their sentiments with futaa.com.
No issue
According to the club’s secretary general Mr. George Bwana, the club has no issue with the shift in dates for the semi final in which they are scheduled to face off with AFC Leopards on Saturday 20 October.
However, speaking to futaa.com, he said he hopes none of the teams in the title chase will be taking part in league matches as that will pass as unfair to Gor Mahia who hold much prestige for the league but will be taking part in the Cup competition.
Shift matches
-As Gor we have no issue at all with the change in dates though we have not yet been informed officially about any changes. But all the same, we hope league matches scheduled for that weekend will also be shifted.
-If not, it is our wish that the top four teams be exempted from league action on the dates because it will be unfair on us that we play a Cup game as our competitors gain points in the league.
– The league is more critical than the Cup. If it will be difficult to shift the league games, then we suggest that the Cup games be played after the regular league season, he said.
Mind games……..we knew six months ago this was going to be FIFA international week and yet we sat down and did nothing. So I would to see the league games postponed as well as this is undue advantage to ulinzi and other teams not competing for the league title.
I hear Rama salim , rasta odhiambo and solomon nasio have been axed from the harambee stars squad.
This players are good but just like world Class players they have to work hard and smart to be all round players. Rama and rasta odhiambo have work on their tactically play, they have to hold balls, dictate game and play with the team and nasio must aim to be better than James situma in the position, dribbling , position play and shooting abilities . The sky is the limit.
Good luck
the dates are fine buy the ground chosen to host the GOR -AFC match is not. NYAYO stadium is going to be a disaster for the brand/ kind of football that we play.
I don’t know when the next league game will be but am happy with this postponement. The boys will come back fresh and ready to roll. We beat Ingwe the cup will ours. Also, we’ll be all charged to finish off the remaining teams in the league. We loose and our confidence may be punctured, especially if we are outplayed in the 2nd half. So this is a must win game for us, and we must use the extended period to prepare well.
The postponment is good especially if the technical bench will use it to properly psyche the lads on the kind of approach required to win the next game.Sofar so good boys it about winning the next game and all available trophies will be Gor’s to keep.
the two sessions a day is welcome. lets not have fatigue excuses being pedaled. if gor will lose then it’s o.k but not that ‘we were tired’. let it be that u were outplayed, all teams are trying their best. even barcelona gets beaten. so mr logs i welcome the new development. the idea of gor cannot play on grass is just lame(these guys were weaned on grass), city stadium is only one pitch. what will happen when ur going to play in those shady and often hostile west african coutries?? those rough potato field pitches require accurate and often highball passes. honestly i have not seen this in gor, there does exist flashes of accuracy but it’s very rare. i am comparing gor to the recent match between yanga and simba and honestly what i saw at the dar derby was quite impressive. these two tz teams play some grown up football. this is what is lucking in gor… yes gor has done well to be unbeaten, there is time we were almost at the bottom and logar has done well, but i need to see gor taking off from the runway. but i still give logar time, what i have seen with the mozambique national team is complete transformation. their recent defeat in nigeria was just bad luck, nigeria escaped with a whisker. my point is that i am yet to see this transformation at gor(or signs) of it. i just hope that the nxt recruitment will be able to push us forward. good and beautiful soccer attracts.but all the same congrats to gor for what u guys have achieved so far.(why is it that once gor scores, yaani take the lead, then the soccer suddenly changes to drub football?)
I have no complains at all with the dates but da very big NO to Nyayo hosting the game. The venue is vtoo small for the teams which command high no of fans in the country.
Really what has informed the change of venue from Kasarani to Nyayo for the GM vs AFC and Tursker Vs Sofa to Kasa,it should have been the reverse coz the former have very few fans attending.
Mr. Bwana, while I agree with you that at this moment in time, it is better to play the game before your direct oponents play. i.e it is better to be chased rather than chasing, it is not worth complaining about this issue. World over, these things happen. You dont want to be seen commenting on line else no one will take you seriously when you are in trouble.
The authorities have made their decision, let us accept it and move on. Life is not coming to an end. It is just a game.
Is there a possibility to play Itubu, Lavatsa, Mohamed and rest Anguyo, Rama, Sserunkuma, Odhiambo etc
Several issues:
1.Could Odhis & especially Rama have been dropped coz of their physique.Rama is very talented and am sure he can only get better given time.
2.Please LET THE TEAM GEL.Remember where Logarusic and the current bench found our beloved K’galo. Tumetoka mbali and some of the people now being impatient were the very same ones who wanted Zico to never leave GM. The archives don’t lie.
3.Maybe the current squad has “peaked”.I still believe that we need to recruit one or two attacking/creative midfielders and I suggest we look beyond our borders and we need also need to improve on our aerial bombardment.Sincerely I had hope Love-A-Star would have been the panacea to this.I still have faith in the lad.
4.Finally @29 Pareyio why should I leave the figures to officials when they are available. As you rightly put it if we take gate collections-Kshs.17.5 million+Tuzo to date-Kshs.10.8million that makes 28.3million.You correctly say we’ve not factored in Supersport,donations/ harambees. So why is GMFC always cash strapped with some officials always fundraising vide dinners. And don’t tell me there are cost coz COSTS SHOULD BE MANAGED.
Hahaha-There were go??? Priorities EC have you signed Loga on a long term contract?

P.S I agree with bloggers that FKF knew about the the national friendlies, it shows some level of disorganization.
When did SSMB lift the ban on Gor Mahia from Nyayo stadium? All I am aware of is the lifting of the Kasarani ban and that we can only play at Nyayo if we collect the rubble at Nyayo. As GM, we have not met that requirement. Of course Mathare offered to collect stones on our behalf (and I hope Rangers did the same for SSMB to have sanctioned our second return there).
Why is SSMB in a hurry to have us back at Nyayo? Why is GM being sneaked back to Nyayo without making the ban lifting public? Why apply double standards? Please SSMB I appeal to you not to lift ban and let our semi-final match with Efusi be played at Kasarani. Or is Efusi willing to collect stones on our behalf?
I know the reason is that the state of the nyayo pitch which is only suitable for aerial football favours AFC as opposed to gm. But we will surprise them
Whichever date the match is we will carry the day; no need for panicking
