FKF demands match report

Controversy surrounding last Sunday’s abandoned Kenyan Premier League match between Sony Sugar and Gor Mahia in Awendo has taken a new dimension, with Football Kenya Federation directing the KPL to furnish it with reports from match officials.

Just a day after the KPL ruled that the match be replayed as none of the two clubs was responsible for the abandonment, FKF president, Sam Nyamweya, said the federation will take up the matter, adding that somebody must take responsibility.

Gor Mahia have appealed against the decision to order a replay, saying KPL is running away from the truth. Yesterday, Nyamweya said FKF will follow up on the matter and take appropriate action.

“There is no way we can be told the match was abandoned, yet nobody is responsible. We need to get a clear report on the game and sequence of events that made the referees to abandon the match,” said Nyamweya.

“We do not want to set a bad precedent here. If any of two teams or their fans were responsible, they must face the consequences,” added the FKF boss. “Unless there was heavy downpour or a tragedy which both sides did not have control over, it raises questions when KPL says a match was abandoned and nobody is responsible,” stated Nyamweya.

The Sunday match was abandoned on the 84th minute when Sony Sugar players accosted referee Nassur Doka and his assistants after Gor had equalized the scores to 2-2. The referees’ report to the KPL indicates that an unnamed Sony Sugar player and official assaulted the first assistant. But KPL says the match was abandoned after a perimeter fence collapsed, putting the players, match officials and fans at risk.

Said KPL in a statement: “In accordance with the Rules of Kenyan Football, Rule 3.4 on responsibilities of clubs and rule 3.7 on abandoned matches, the match reports exonerate both teams from causing the abandonment.

“But the match reports confirm that the players were ready to resume play but due to a collapsed perimeter fence which let many spectators of both sides into the playing area, posing serious security risk to teams, match officials and technical benches, prompting match officials to call off the match.”

“We therefore order for a replay of the entire match to be played at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Wednesday September 18, 2013 starting at 3:00pm and KPL will take control of the match arrangements.

“Further to the above, it is noted from the match reports there were incidences of misconduct and assault against the 1st Assistant Referee by SonySugar official and player, which will be forwarded to the Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee (IDCC) for appropriate disciplinary action.”

At long last sanity is prevailing after too much HULLABALOO for nothing. Please FKF PRESIDENT , His excellency Mr. NYAMWEYA i urge you to request SUPERSPORT to provide THE VIDEO CLIP that SoNy coach claimed to have watched a re-play version of that very controversial goal that caused all the mayhem.

This is the best evidence for SoNy to prove why they actually disputed the goal and disrupted the play and refused to restart the ball as required by football rules. In fact this clip will capture all the events that took place immediately after the wonderful goal was scored by CALABAR and until the time when ZICO was floored dead on the ground with that GOLDEN blow.

I think KPL have been wrong on football matters.

I think this man called GMT Otieno was banned by FKL and what is he doing as match commissar at Sony Vs Gor Mahia? Was his suspension lifted? If not, then there are many question marks on GMT which must be ironed out as soon as possible.

Song assaulted assistant referee.. and it appears there are going scot-free. These two thugs should be arrested because they are known both to the match officials, Gor Mahia and Sony teams.

Let justice be done! Kpl was not honnest and did not make a fair judgment. KFF should look into this matter keenly. Kasaya of Sony should be suspended from football both localy and internationaly. I personaly watched in dismay in Awendo how he opened fighting in the field.

So who is telling the truth? @Ingo of Ingwe. @Ogango Trailer of GM, Dorka the ref, GMT of KPL security or G. Bwana and Faiz? I guess we need a commission of inquiry to come to the bottom of this issue. Now everyone is trying to appear relevant.
By the way when is FKF organising the Gor-Shabana match?

  • After watching the Clips of the abandoned SONY/Gor Mahia match on the Super sport- Simba soccer Programme on Thursday evening at 09.30 pm, I have the following observations to make-
    1. What Are the credentials requirements for someone to see, observe and make correct judgement based on what he has seen/observed?
Answer- good eyesight and a good working brain to correctly interpret wht one has seen/observed!! Gentlemen, I m sorry to Say tht Frank Okoth and the people over at KPL do not posses these qualities. If they do, then they chose not to use them or they must have been heavily compromised by SONY to turn a blind eye to all those evidences as provide by Super Sport. The pictures of this match as provided by Super Sport clearly shows the defiance by SONY players led by a deranged Kasaya to accept the referee’s decision to award Gor Mahia the goal scored by David Owino. They continue to protest and eventually they begin to physically molest the assistant referee. They are joined by the Club officials including coach Zico. A Gor Mahia player- M. Odhiambo can be seen leading Zico away after a brief altercation with some people. Meanwhile, Gor Mahia officials led by coach BW (maintaining his usual poise- arms folded across his chest- ) and players can be seen holding their peace. JBO can actually be seen trying to calm things down by pleading with SONY players to maintain peace. Gor Mahia players eventually walk to the Centre ready for the restart by SONY. But because they’re busy Vehemently protesting the Gor Mahia’s equalising goal, they refuse to come and restart play. It is very easy to see from the pictures tht the refusal by SONY players to accept Gor’s equalizer is the catalyst tht their fans needed to join in the protest. The referee had only one option- TO CALL OFF the match when SONY players didn’t present themselves For the restart.
    CONCLUSION
1.The refusal by the SONY players to accept the genuine goal scored by D. Owino and given by the referee and his assistant is the genesis of the protests. Its also important to mention that these protests are started off by SONY players and their fans.
    2. It boarders on criminality and perfect negligence for both the referee (Nasur Dokah) and GMT Otieno (the match Commissioner) not to correctly report on wht transpired during the match with an emphasis to the genesis of the protests. How Doka and GMT Otieno failed to notice or even put in their reports the clear protests by the SONY players beats every logic and any human understanding. Its therefore correct to call their reports – “REPORTS OF CONVENIENCE” tyranny of money.
    3. For KPL to accept these reports and to base their judgment hence ordering for a replay relying on the same reports beats my understanding. How did KPL fail to see the gaps in the reports filled by the referee and the match commissioner? Why did they FAIL to raise the RED FLAG on these reports despite the huge gaps ie failure to mention the genesis of the protest? It leaves a lot to be desired for Doka and GMT Otieno to try and play with our intelligence. Unless GMT Otieno and Doka were officiating in a different match, but if it was SONY/GOR MAHIA match, I’m afraid to tell KPL “Please refund the money paid you by SONY so as to order for a replay of this match”. SONY caused the abandonment of this match and so they MUST forfeit the 3 points to Gor Mahia. People who suffer from selective memory loss and occasional amnesia are not allowed to run our football activities, and thts wht ails KPL. Stop applying double standards when dealing with issues touching on Gor Mahia. FIFA rule 3.44 on abandoned matches states tht-: a team tht causes an abandonment of a match shall lose the said match on a 3 points 2 goals basis. Easily compromised, gullible, greedy and incompetent officials are dragging KPL’s reputation and integrity into the mud. According to Frank Okoth (Programmes and Logistics Officer) at KPL, the reports filled by Doka and GMT Otieno on the match, DID NOT indicate tht SONY players vehemently protested GM’s 2nd Goal and tht SONY’s fans joined in the protest in solidarity with their team. OKoth further goes ahead to say tht they depended on these same reports despite the glaring omissions to order for a replay!
Super Sport as a sponsor of KPL must have provided these same video recordings of the match to KPL after the match, if not they should have requested for them! I now ask- Was the whole of KPL compromised so as not to see what everyone else saw- (1. SONY players angrily protesting GOr Mahia’s 2nd goal and refusing to resume play). 2. That fans from both teams celebrated the 1st three goals of the match without pulling down the perimeter wall!! So why did they decide to do so after the 4th goal of the match was scored and who did?? The explanations advanced by Frank Okoth as to why they ordered for a replay cannot wash. Do you depend solely on match officials’ report when determining the reasons why a match has been abandoned or you exhaust every available source of information so as to arrive at a credible conclusion??
Justice must not only be done but Must also be seen to be done. Heads of all those who are culpable in this matter must roll if only for KPL to regain their credibility.

@LA PASTRE the third option is to have a well control neverse system linking brain and the rest of the body. CAN YOU EXPLAIN TO ME THE RED CARD RULE AS PER THE FIFA STATUTE. WAS KASAYA AND ZICO BEHAVIOUR QUALIFY TO BE RED CARDED? WHY DID NASSUR DOKKA NOT ISSUE CARD TO ZICO AND KAYASA EVEN AFTER BOTH LEFT THERE AREA OF JURISDICTIONS MARKED FOR THEIR FUCTIONS?

It is a waste of time to rush into making decisions then turn around abs say the opposite! And who is this ingo guy posting stupid comments on GM site? This is not the forum for efusi. All the best Mahia in the remaining matches.
