FKF to investigate referee misconduct
The Football Kenya Federation’s referees committee has confirmed that they are set to discuss the conduct of two match officials , who handled the Saturday match between Tusker and Gor Mahia. A meeting to discuss the two will be held on Tuesday and could see them removed from officiating in the Kenyan Premier League if found guilty of incompetence.
“We are reviewing the conduct of assistant referee George Mwangi and centre referee David Mulongo and will make a decision on their conduct on Tuesday. There have been some complains on how they handled the match and we must take some action.” said a source to goal.com
Most observers who saw the game have accused the officials of blatant bias for awarding Tusker a penalty after Eugene Asike of Tusker handled the ball. Gor Mahia legendary defender Tobias Ocholla, who observed the match, said that such poor officiating could have a negative effect on the premier league.
What kind of officiating was that? David Mwangi is a hater of Gor Mahia and the decision he made was purely intentional. He simply rewarded that penalty to Tusker out of nothing. I strongly believe that Tusker’s Eugine Asike was the one who handled the ball in Gor’s box and no one expected a penalty from that. That kind of officiating will hinder the country’s top flight football from growing, he said to futaa.com
At the very least, such poor officiating often leads to flaring tempers amongst fans.
Fans arrested
Meawhile Six Gor Mahia fans have been charged by a Nairobi Court for taking part in an unlawful assembly and inflicting malicious damage to property follwing the unruly scenes that ensued at the match against Tusker. This according to fourfourtwo media. They were accused of pelting moving vehicles with stones along Uhuru highway. .Five of them denied the charges and were freed on a bond of 100,000 shillings or a cash bail of 20,000 shillings.
They were also accused of damaging windscreens and window glasses valued at 73,000 shillings.
Gor Mahia will play SoNy Sugar at Afraha stadium on Saturday
Nonsense!!!….where was this committee to investigate the numerous complains by clubs about Gor being favoured in the last 3 yrs?? ? BURE KABISA. Haki oguda!
@Ingo for sure Gor Kogallo is mighty. They were favoured even by Cecafa refs to reach the finals!
Go and post your trash to AfC Ingwe site.
Refs mess the games world over and there is a mechanism to handle them but for fans to take to the street stoning innocent members of the public is a BIG NO.
Now what happens in case these fans are jailed? As fans we will continue watching Gor as they languish in jail. In other words life goes on. I pity their family members.
I think it’s time we found better ways of protesting instead of being physical since that just damages our name. and the fan seen accosting the linesperson after the game should also be reprimanded.
Unnecessary ….referees all over the world make wrong calls all the time. Just because it was Gor vs Tusker does not mean that there should be no mistakes.
Kogallo we simply failed to utilise our chances in this game…had we scored two goals, would this penalty be an issue ?
I totally agree with Jakoyo and Dan on this, those who involve themselves in that kind of hooliganism must be jailed as a lesson to the rest. And when that happens they suffer as individual and the game continues. It’s a big shame and gives our haters
something to talk about and for sure they will talk for a long time.
The fans should no overreact to such decisions. Our players should not whip the fans emotions by their reactions. I don’t like what that fans did but I don’t want to imagine a jail term for them. That fan who went after the ref must was so bitter. Sometimes human beings react differently to different situations. Have you not heard of people killing their spouses? All fans are not of the same mind. But let them learn to be tolerant. Even Mps do fight in parliament and display all manner of behaviour. Pls warn our fans but severe punishment is no no no. That is my opinion my dear bloggers.
A person , NO NO this has been happening for very long, people must be punished. If you have been following this blog we ha been saying the law enforcers must act, they are now acting, let them do their job.
My dear I agree with you. Our fans must respect the rule of law. Football is a game that is loved by many and it provokes varied emotions. You have seen fans hanging themselves just merely due to the fact that the team they support lost in England! Other fans stab their fellows after watching matches. Understand that fan. He couldn’t bear the pain. Our fans behaved well during Mashemeji derby even after the loss and that is a plus on our side. Whoever is handling those cases should have emotional intelligence.
We should not be admonishing fans’ behavior. We need to understand the root cause of the problems starting from the society values, family values and individual values. Let us cure the disease from the root cause than having blame games all the time when evils things have happened. We need to blame the systems at levels of governance starting with FKF, KPL and club.
A better case study is UK on how they eliminated hooliganism in football. We need to borrow a leaf from the football associations of UK, Germany, France and Spain and move forward as soon as possible.
@ Jamigori hata mimi ninakubaliana na wewe.Watafute chanzo cha hizi mashida. Jela hapana. Those fans have family responsibilities. And we need fans to support Kogallo. Si kitu kidogo jela.
My friend if you have family responsibilities then you need to know and behave better. When Thika messed our party in 2012 I saw real men cry, cry and cry.. That is one way of venting but stoning someone’s car that is a BIG NO. It’s like if you cannot control the alcohol in you either stop drinking or drink at home. Likewise if you cannot stomach a lose of biased refereeing watch soccer at home or listen to radio jambo since the game of soccer will always serve you ay of those at any time. The only way I can feel pity for the six is if one was a victim of circumstances and not a thug. Remember that lots of innocent fans become victims after these goons have messed up. Imagine what is going through the minds of the players, sponsors when such negative news is out there. Moreover with our dwindling fortunes in the pitch we are now even affecting the number in the stands. I still maintain that we need to have examples of what not to do in the name of Gor. Now the next targets should be the bang smokers in the stands. When there is no teargas or stone throwing our children literally inhale bang in the stands.
@Dan Original, Blame the EC you have been supporting blindly for having contributed to this mess you are now commenting on. Why can you also help to identify the trouble makers and bhangi smokers than yelling here. Yelling without the wayforward and getting the root cause will not change the mindset of our fans.
We have to continue blaming the office and ourselves as fans because we have been seeing these happenings but we do not move forward to discourage the bad behaviors and thuggery. We need to take vicious action on all the perpetrators and bhangi smokers. Why can’t they smoke bhangi at the home yard? Why should they be smoking bhangi in stadium during Gor Mahia matches.
These are some of the reforms we have been advocating for now a very long time but none at the EC level is listening. EC members are busy with the looting spree at the expense of exciting the mandate given to them by our fans. People like Ngala and Kilo are busy building mansions at the expense of our fans.
The reforms should be on:-
– civic education to members
– engaging fans on open days
– training fans
– getting fans involved in distribution of leaflets to discourage thuggery and hooliganism.
– turning the club into a professional outfit with fans to be shareholders
– hiring a working secretariat with CEO, Finance Director, Membership and Recruitment Director, Marketing director, Players Contract and Recruiment Director. At the end of the year, the secretariat members will be evaluated based on the
1. financial performance of the club,
2. cost savings,
3. revenue generation,
4. timely renewal of players’ contracts and recruitment of members.
5. ensuring minimization and elimination of thuggery and hooliganism.
6. Covering all loopholes in financial leakages
The secretariat will also be paid competitive salaries and good bonus at the end of the year.
Any one remember this song, ” nga’ma teri ejela en jajuok, kata inege…” formulate another way.
FKF have concluded that the referees were right to award a penalty and thus will continue to officiate. They have also demanded that KPL takes disciplinary action on Boniface Oluoch over his conduct on the material day within 14 days failure to which they will act themselves.
Those who harass innocent people and motorists must be punished, period.
Ingwe fans harassed motorists on Sunday. Bora usene ingwe juu. Sometimes those fans are just full of themselves. Sema Gor juu juu sana hata kama wamechapwa. That is jus on a light note.
Jamigori and a Person whatever you say here should make sense. You cannot look for justification for these silly behaviors and please don’t find scapegoat in the EC, they don’t send thugs to go and stone cars. Anyone talking about having a family should know better than come to the stadium just to cause mayhem. So let people go to jail and I believe this time it’s going to be long sentences. And the game will go on without them.
@ja Thur GI ji, I support your sentiments even if @Jamigori says I am yelling. You cannot commit a crime because EC did not do this and that. I didn’t see Ngala or Kilo on the dock with those fans. Nor am I sure if @Jamigori attended the court session in solidarity with the fans nor contributed to the fines.. I can assure you that the only members in that court could have been family members. Anyway as fans we have more responsibility to stop these behaviors since we sit with these goons at the stadium. Unfortunately we either cheer them when they start these behaviours or we fear to tell them off.
On Ingwe fans misbehaving and getting away with it I don’t think we should dwell on it since the amount of hatred we attract ingwe really has to do something drastic to attract the same.
On the refs being absolved it just shows that our players have to show the highest levels of discipline. As a captain Jerry was good in managing the team mates, something Musa should also learn
@Jathurgiji, Ec must be mentioned here. Don’t think that only your opinion makes sense. Even in 2012 some men cried but others stoned cars on Jogoo road.If your own brother was a hooligan you wouldn’t talk like that. Ati long sentence!!!! Don’t keep on talking that the game will go on without these fans. Some bloggers just watch games on TV.
@Jaathurgi Rachier. Joma chamo gate collections mag gor to onego otue karango? Wekuru mbesoreneji ni itueyo jogor. Sport pesa ilo dendu to mago pesa ma fans go ema obet. Gor mahia officials ma jokuoge should be the first to be jailed.
@Jathurgi Rachier, Joma chamo gate collections mag Gor to Onego otue higni adi? Nowadays everithing is about sponsors! Ni onge kata fuolo. Sportpesa ilo Dendu to mago pesa ma fans ma udwaro ni otwe go ema Bet. Koro joma onego otue e kenya kae to adi ma Fans Mag Gor ema uoye Ndeere ni. We uru baro wiji bwana. Nyocha ukasoru kae ni Jaro Soja onego tue. Fans ma uluongo ni Omer go ema kelo life e gor ka.
A Person on this one I am more sensible than you, and even if it was my own brother or son, I would still say the same. Let people be jailed.
rhetoric.
It’s not @Ja thur gi ji who will jail or not these guys. It’s the law period. Damage to personal property is a criminal offense and the punishments are there in the penal code. It doesn’t mater whether you are a gor supporter or not, please abide by the country laws and observe decency
