Four Kogalo players in action as Stars tie Lesotho

Harambee Stars came back from two goals down to tie Lesotho 2-2 in their first ever COSAFA cup. IN action for Stars were four Kogalo players : David Owino, Edwin Lavatsa, Anthony Akumu and Paul Kiongera who was a second half substitute.

Harambee stars had flown to Zambia and arrived only a short while before the game. The fatigue showed as the Stars fell two goals down by halftime.

In the second half, the Stars came back storming. But it took until the 84th minute before they found the back of the net. It came via Paul Kiongera who converted a cross from club-mate David Owino. Joackins Atudo scored the second goal in extra time after a Lesotho player had handled the ball.

Kenya: Duncan Ochieng,15 David Owino,20 Edwin Lavasta,16 Anthony Akumu,5 Musa Muhammed,4 David Ochieng (James Situma) ,2 Jockins Atudo,7 Peter Opiyo,10 Francis Kahata,6 Andrew Murunga (Paul Were),9 Kennedy Otieno( Mungai Kiongera)

Substitutes: Fredrick Onyango,13 Rama Salim, ,22 Wilson Obungu ,3 Omar Aboud,18 Edwin Seda,12 Johanna Omollo

That prooves that we’ve quality bcos if we can have 7 K’ogalo players doing duty( Jerim Onyango,Muingai kiongera,Antony Akumu, David owino,Musa Mohamed,Edwin Lavatsa& Rama Salim) for the country, then that can only show what K’ogalo is made of.Thats why evry team wants to beat us just bcos of the quality we have.I think we r headed to the 1987 situation when the late Fabisch may God rest his Soul in peace fielded his 1st 11 with 9 K,Ogalo players. Kudos boys 4r prooving that u r the best in kpl.

  • Yes,it smells like 1987.Also FKF confusion(a 2 week break immediately after a one month mid season break,FKF cup not even started means major conjestion) means that our two Bobs have time to find theirs and the team’s chemistry. Am.looking out for attacking midfielders in the tourney.
Only the bloated executive community(why did they let Opiyo slip away) can spoil the party when things look so promising

with the kind of quality players we have,i don’t see why we shouldn’t win the league this time round!!

  • Now we are saying we have quality players but at the same time we are thinking of recruiting. With players like Gaucho and Wiper not yet used we need not worry about qlty players but how to get the best from them

And against Swaziland they are six( Jerim, Owino, Akumu,Rama,Lavatsa,Kiongera). What’s coach Amrouche upto? Anyway good luck chaps and get us the goals tap, tap, tap!!!!!

  • And Lavatsa has already scored in the 4th minute. And if they bring in Mohm’ed they will be 7 players. The only worry is fatigue though Amrouche has a job to do and has to use his best tools. It’s also every player’s dream to play for his national team

Always GOR MAHIA forever , but more needs to be done . We need to discuss the following for GOR MAHIA to be in a stature like FC BARCELONA and especially in the following Critical areas:
    – Medical Covers for players
    – When players are called for National duty( Harambee stars ) , an incentive to the players to be issued .
    – Gor Mahia FC to have an Investment( Revolving) Fund for players / Families .
    – We need to have Financial literacy programmes for players at least quarterly
    – Gor Mahia FC to have an Arrangment to own a STADIUM for its home matches
    – Season Tickets to be introduced .
I would also like to know when the AGMs are held to pass my views to the Club Officials .
