Tusker has the advantage after seeing off defending champions Gor Mahia 1-0 in the first leg of this year’s Top 8 semifinal at Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday.
The league champions were the better side for the first half of the match after attacking from the onset through a Jesse Were strike that was parried by Ivo Mapunda for a corner.
Andrew Tololwa was at it in the 12th minute forcing Mapunda to another frantic save after another strong shot from outside the box. Mapunda was kept busy again by a Khalid Aucho shot five minutes later from a freekick sending panic in the Gor side.
Gor also had their chances, though, outplayed in the midfield with Yusuf Juma failing to power his shot strong enough in the 20th minute. Kevin Omondi also came close moments later but was outmuscled by the Tusker defender Joseph Shikokoti.
The moment of reckoning arrived five minutes into stoppage time of the first half with Robert Omunuk nodding in a well executed corner kick from Andrew Tololwa.
Gor made early substitution in the second half bringing in Anthony Akumu for Anthony Gathu and Moses Odhiambo for Yusuf Juma.
The second half was no different as Tusker continued to dominate the match with Gor Mahia making their final substitution bringing in Lavatsa in place of Nigerian Abbey Kunrumni.
Tusker responded bringing in Monda for Tololwa and youngster Olunga for Omunuk to reinforce their striking.
Omondi had the best chance for Gor Mahia in the 77th minute sending a low shot that proved easy pickings for Odhiambo in goal for Tusker.
A Victor Abondo shot was also not threatening enough to breach Tusker defence.
I can’t express what i felt today but i know that the coach wanted to give opportunity to our players who have been on the bench for reasons he gave before the match.no course for an alarm coz we have 2nd leg to redeem ourselves.
For gaucho i wish him quick recovery.
All is not lost go kogalo u will make it.
I have a strong faith we will get positive results on 22-May-2013 (second leg) to overrturn the 1-0 decifit. I noticed there is still a problem in marking when it comes to corners. About 3 Tusker players were unmarked when this corner was taken, one of them being Robert Omuluk and this punished us…

I realized there is still a loophole in marking when it comes to corners. When this corner was taken, about 3 players from Tusker were unmarked, one of them being Robert Omuluk and this punished us in the 40th minute when he headed into the net…maybe it happened due to poor cordination at the back by us (GM) and we need to move improve on this ASAP.
We still have another chance to bounce back on 22-May-2013 (second leg). Overturning one nil is not very difficult. We were under pressure.

We should not be worried about the result. The learning is that the ‘other’ players do not have what it takes to win matches, though the main players also suffer this fate. The only solution is to do some recruitment for a defender, offesive midfielder and a natural striker in July.
Our game against Ingwe is one we need to post a positive result. The issues of yesterday should not demoralise the players and the fans
move on we say,but our lack of goals needs a third eye.The Gor of last season did not mince its chances at the goalmouth yawa. Afadhali tupoteze cups and trophies than kushindwa na mashemeji kwasababu tunaweza kosa kuku wa krismasi.KEEP IT ON KOGALO!!!
that was painfull to watch. i will not blame logar and infact thank him for displaying the kind of crap some gor players are. apart from mosoti, owino, gathu, mwapunda the rest of the the so cold ‘hidden talent’ in gor are garbage. one abbey nutty and kevin omondi are at best crap footballers. someone like kevin should know better. let me put this quote from one Josephat Murila:- ‘In my opinion these players have put a lot of pressure on themselves trying to impress the fans. My advice to them, play your game, forget about the crowds’.
what i saw yesterday is that gor football basically remains the same.
– poor passing
– no cordination or communication btwn mid field n stikers.
– show-off footballers
akumu, anguyo et lavatsa could be better players but they seem to be loosing it. for kevin and nutty, if you guys were that good you would be in europe.
I support Dinga A 100% those players apart from the 4 or 5 are all useless, football today is a very aggressive affair yet many Gor players think we just dont have any other important thing to watch in our houses. Coach should face out those whom feel are not doing enough coz they are paid & our pride is to be at the top, nothing less. That is if they expect the stadium to be full. Physique & desire to win every game should be the driving goal,a striker without any meaningful strike at goal in 90 mins? Thats bullshit.
I will not comment much but for those who have been watching our game this year will atest to this we are just down kabisa if you watch our game in mumias for those who went to mumias, what we played in nakuru and ysterday u will realize GOR hakuna partern they play its just u get the ball u realise it to knwwhere, player dont even care n both our coaches just makes noise from the touchline we can not even change the partern of play inside the field, what a boring football i ever watched,i know some people will not agree with me but time will tell, lets pray for the team so that we can turn the one goal dificit
OMERA the worst performance I have seen in years…ONE SHOT ON GOAL !!!!
No.1,2 and 3 above….i beg to difer with you.On the contrary there is cause to worry. Why do i say this?
1.our game was disjointed
2.we had only 1 meaningful shot on goal
3.our keeper was the busiest of the 2
4.lack of bite in attack
5.we lost
going into the 2nd leg,we need nothing short of a miracle to overcome a well organised and drilled team in Tusker!!!
The reaason we don”t nEed to worry is that AFC will come to prove their critics wrong and that”s where we will catch them. Our only problem is that we have no players who try to overdo to do themslves in the pitch
Dear Loga, I you were using this game against tusker to gauge the quality of our bench I think the solution for you in the next transfer window is NOW VERY VERY CLEAR…..overhaul the midfield and get top notch striker or two. Goodluck my bratha !!!!
Dinga @4 please don’t go personal on individuals, they have feelings and they have their families and friends also; there is no need for insults. Footballing is not the only thing about a person. These boys deserve respect and encouragement.
The boys did well, as you can see the scoreline was only one to nil inspite of all that superiority by Tusker. Gor has been performing poorly lately and that is well known, did you expect miracles from this second string players? As for Ingwe, please shemeji be warned and do not be cheated by the results of this match.
@jathur gi ji that was a good comment. Let’s note that these boys are digital and they read our comments here. If someone waS to write about u at ur place of work or place u might not like it. -magine how the player who was denied a chance to play yesterday due to ’emotions’ is now feeling. Whether we beat ingwe or not over the weekend the general agreement is that gor of last year is not there. Could the Batca disease has caught up with us?
@10: i always believe that if you can single out individuals when they do well, then you should do likewise when there exists a problem. it’s nothing personal. we should be able to learn when ur being critised for poor work. kevin et nutty might probably be very likable ppl, but let them not use our love for gor to do as they want… critisizing is much better than stoning someone. also let it be known that i have praised the same kevin on this site when he did good for the team. players need to know they are responsible. an EPL player is paid more than most excutives. when Beckham ‘messed’ in the world cup thus getting a red card, the English almost roasted him alive. my point is that playing is a big responsibility…otherwise sina chuki.
Ooh Laa la ” GO FOR PINCHEZ & OYOO OF TUSKER NOW!!!!!
Loga and the crew jump to this two wonderful boys who are seeking to leave TUSKER like yesterday. PERIOD!!!
The two are already eyed by Ingwe but they could be good additions to our blunt mid and forward
Am waiting
DOWN BUT NOT OUT
INGWE TV LAUNCH
Before i proceed, allow me to congratulate AFC Leopards family for the historic launch of IngweTV. We know apart from disseminating important information for the club, the television station gonna earn extra revenue for the club. Chingwe Leopards can now boasts of Ksh 8 million fat wallet given to them yesterday by ZuKu.
I feel sad that we went down one nil against Tusker during yesterday’s Top 8 knockout encounter at the Nyayo national stadium. Our boys especially the defenders lacked concentration thus conceading the goal through a corner kick.
Well, that is it. We have one more chance to overturn the results during the return leg in a week’s time. In any case, the loss have given the coach time to study the weakness which we hope gonna be rectified immediately.
On Ogango trailer’s suggestion that we poach two guys from Tusker, not bad but it needs more strategic thinking. First,it’s been very difficult by K’Ogalo to lure players from the club. Why? We need to find out. Two, which department e.g goalkeeping, defence or mid field require urgent reinforcement? Three, do we have the money to go for the shopping spree?
These are some the questions we need to answer before we make hasty decisions such that you’ve suggested. Furthermore, we also need money and we can only sell quality players. I said and i will continue to say, mere words ( which K’Ogalo is famed for) will never take this club anywhere . We must match our words with action.
Where is bloggers branch? Who were it’s proponents? The usual suspects on this blog. And this blog bears me out. Ever cry foul of and never do individual soul searching. At the stadium, they whip emotions of the fans, most of whom are already high on something. They swear on this blog to die for K’Ogalo, yet they never defend it’s name and image. They demand the officials to be accountable yet they hardly show their tickets at the gate. Shame on you!
