Gor Mahia gunning for revenge against Bandari

Will Kogalo players celebrate on Wednesday

When Gor Mahia last played Bandari in Mombasa on March 30, Bandari shockingly won 2-1. Aside from the loss to Top Fry Nakuru, this is probably the most unexpected defeat Gor Mahia has suffered this season. It cannot be gainsaid therefore that Gor Mahia will be gunning for a measure of revenge When they play Bandari at City stadium on Wednesday.

Even more important however, Gor Mahia will be hoping to pick up where they left off against Chemelil on Saturday. It was an all round brilliant performance from all the players; Skipper Jerim Onyango is in peak form, making incredible save after incredible save, Geoffrey Walusimbi is thriving in his new role as playmaker, while Kizito and Gattuso are as solid as ever.

As for Sserunkuma, his goal-scoring touch has incredibly  not escaped him since he joined the club in 2011. Yet again he leads the scoring charts. This kind of goal scoring consistency has not been seen since Hezborn Omollo in the mid 1980s and Ouma “Chege” in the early 1970s.

David Owino “Calabar” has yet to have a bad league game since Logarusic gave him a spot in the starting line-up. Talk about consistency. And of course, Gor Mahia fans were elated to see George Odhiambo “Blackberry” recover his mystical touch from 4 years ago.  Some strikers have a fragile psyche and it takes a certain type of coach to coax the confidence back to the surface. Perhaps thats what Nuttall has done with Blackberry.  Fans will be hoping that he continues on Wednesday.

But Bandari who are under the chairmanship of former Gor Mahia winger Ben Oloo “Breakdance” will be in a fighting mood. They are literally fighting for survival, being only 6 points above the relegation zone. Their last four games have ended in draws, including an impressive draw against Sofapaka.

Of note, Gor Mahia will probably be playing against midfielder Shaban Kenga who donned the Kogalo jersey while on loan during the first half of thsi year. But coach Twahir Muhidin has so far been unimpressed with Kenga since his return.

“He is not just the same player we had before he went to Gor Mahia. Something has changed about him and I have challenged him to work harder and give more”. Remember Kenga had expressed a desire to stay at Gor Mahia but he was forced back by Bandari.

Skipper Jerim Onyango for his part has underscored the importance of concentration as the league enters  its final lap.

“We are at a crucial stage and we can’t afford to lose concentration even a bit. Against Chemelil Sugar it was tough and thankfully we got three points. Now the stage we are in requires a lot of focus and for us it means we continue winning our matches.” said Jerim to futaa.com

And when it comes to concentration and focus, Jerry “Jagoal” has been leading by example over the past four games. He has been solid between the posts.

A win for Gor Mahia will put them 4 points clear of closest challengers Sofapaka. But coach Frank Nuttall acknowledges that there is still a long way to go. “It’s difficult to tell if we will win the league because it’s getting intense every time but so long as we are on the go and take each game as it comes we will win it,” the Scotsman said.

The match kicks off on Wednesday at 4pm at City stadium.

  • Play like champions and don’t think of revenge. The determination in Gor family, from the fans, TB, playing unit and EC is the driving force. It is so powerful and my prayer is that we win it. One at a time, the journey is almost coming to an end and requires that final power. Thankfully, Kogalo has it. Good luck mayienga.

Forget revenge, revenge is for the wounded and feint hearted. Kogallo is home of champions so go out there and fight like a champion that you are!

I was made to swallow my own words when kogallo beat chemilil 2-0 . How we scored 2 goals against the meanest defence in the league, I have no clue but at least I have a clue that if beat bandari and city stars in the next 2 games, We Are CHampions once more. ……and this time it is a sweet one with average team, makeshift squad and zero sponsor/budget

  • I wish the team victory, this game must be taken seriously because the likes of bandari, top fry and city stars have always frustrated gor.
By the way gor has suffered three loses and of the three it is bandari and top fry that beat us.

As we shout about our beloved team performance let us also think of our masemeji since All is not well with their house. Wish K’Ogalo all the best tomorrow

As I wish the players/TB the best & commend their TPL performance despite the significant challenges they’ve faced am also amazed & perplexed by the fact that all the exuberance/enthusiasm always displayed after a victory at the end of the day translates into a paltry 300 members.
Realistically Jakoyo has a point coz there was nothing top class about our performances in CAF, CECAFA or the GoTv.
Challenge is how can the excitement exhibited above b converted into 10K members giving 500bob monthly.

@16,there is no need to think about shemeji. coz, these are the same people doing everything possible to disorganize Gor.let them reap what they sew.

Ooh La la..!!”FRANK NUTTAL WIN & BREAKAWAY FROM THE PRETENDERS”

@ Comrade jakoyo “OPTIMITICALLY” let Frank Nuttal just do the talking on the pitch as the chasing pack continue with their monotonous slogan of “WAIT & SEE WHAT HAPPENS” to K’Ogalo games.

As a matter of fact if we WIN today then definitely TUSKER will succumb to ULINZI pressure. And if we win against against CITY stars then SOFAPAKA & TUSKER will share points with SoNy and MATHARE respectively.

By 18th of October 2014 CHEMO & SOFAPAKA will crush themselves as ULINZI do damaging on K’Ogalo favors. Not forgetting that AFC prawns might turn out be the “KING-MAKER” in waiting

SOFAPAKA,TUSKER & CHEMO please Keep on dreaming with your wait and see what happens as if league “NI YA MAMA YENU AMA BABA YENU” so to quote the famous phrase.! GOD FORBID. GIk ma kamago.

Worst of all is that by the time SOFAPAKA & TUSKER will be squaring out amongst themselves then i can predict that the title will be a matter of “WHEN” and not “IF” K’Ogalo will be confirmed “BACK 2 BACK” 2014 TPL CHAMPIONS. ALL THE BEST “WUON TIMBE”..!!

Nyasaye Kony K’ogalo kawuono kendo ndalo duto. A win today will give a stern warning to all and sundry that we Gor Mahia mean to defend the KPL title come what may.I can see Bandari FC coming with a defensive attitude to HOLD ONTO POSSESSION FOR AS MUCH AS THEY CAN and catch us on counter(with Aswani,Kenga and Bageya) butall these hopes should be dashed away with early goals.Go Go for victory boyz.

Without scoffing at the Efusi..remember it is punishable by God Almighty.

It may just be good for them and us to learn how bad and terrible it is to scorn someone at his lowest level and worst situation. Yea, i remember and the archives can bear witness to their numerous abuses when we lost the sponsorship, results were horrible and confusion seemed to overwhelm us..the time Oduori12 highlighted the laundry, A certain jakoyo was reporting from Gabon…

I hope we also learn never to walk their way lest we join in the cycle.

Where we are now it may require too much misbehavior for K’ogalo to give away the precision. Experience is the best teacher, most are faint hearted here. Kudos to the Koseros and Dans of this site.

Thanks apostle Mwakio for being around too.
