K’Ogalo failed to register their first victory of the season after battling to a barren draw against a stubborn Ulinzi Stars

Gor Mahia remained winless in Kenyan Premier League after they battled to a barren draw against Ulinzi Stars on Thursday.

The draw means the league champions have now gone for three matches without a win. Gor Mahia got the first chance to go ahead in the fourth minute but Enock Agwanda’s effort flashed wide after being put through by Godfrey Walusimbi.

One minute later, the soldiers forced a corner but did not get much from it. Three minutes later, Cliff Kasuti made a cross looking for Oscar Wamalwa but Musa Mohammed was quick to clear the danger.

The match had to be stopped for a few minutes thereafter, as Bernard Odhiambo had to be treated. The attack then quickly swung towards Gor Mahia as Francis Kahata picked up Godfrey Walusimbi’s effort only for it to fly over the bar.

Ulinzi got a slight reprieve in the 20th minute when John Nairuka’s shot got blocked. Gor Mahia were forced to make an early change when Karim Nzigimiyama came on for injured Bernard Odhiambo

Four minutes later, Kasuti should have scored for Ulinzi Stars had his shot been on target. James Saruni was called to make a save of the half from a Kahata low shot. Then Walusimbi nearly came close as Gor Mahia dominated the closing stages of the first half.

It was however, the soldiers, who ended the half on a high with Makwatta coming close at the tail end of the first half. The soldiers started the second half strongly with Makwatta and John Nairuka combing well to find Kasuti only for Jerim Onyango to come out and clear the danger.

Ulinzi Stars pulled out Masuti for Kevin Amwayi. In the 56th minute, Joseph Kuria was booked for a bad tackle. At the hour mark, Enock Agwanda was picked out by Kahata but he could not finish it off.

  • Very good result for a team that doesn’t hav 1st eleven or clear play formation.call it a makeshift team.Nattul pliz note that loosing a derby at home is treasonable offence.No.2 it being GM coach solely depend on the “fans” who “hired” upon being dismissed by the EC.Kindly give something in return.pliz pliz rudisha mono.or else the guns are seeking target.

Satisfactory performance to be realistic. One point gained, a clean sheet by Jerry and two places up the log. From position 13 to 11.

A win on Sunday be it by fluke or design; i don’t care will push us closer to the mid-table and i will be contented if we can maintain the same until JUNE transfer period.

But if we keep on occupying the bottom 4 positions then “someone” definitely will have to explain what the problem is and how HE gonna fix it.

I do not expect us to win the league but TOP 8 must the worst position that is acceptable by our standards within KPL and short of that by June then “DIVORCE” is imminent.

  • Are we aware that most of not all the teams have dropped points? Even at our invincible best we didn’t beat Ulinzi at Afraha last year. I am least concerned by negative comments from clueless and classless fans. The truth is- we are playing well and the goals will soon begin to flow in!! We have a very solid team and we only need the so called fans to consider the following- we have a new strike partnership that will take time to be insync with the rest of the team. Tuyisenge will give us the speed, guile and the height that Olunga provided. Let us win the derby on Sunday to send a warning that the lion of Kenyan football is still around. Thank you.

we seriously lack strikers and yet we loaned out timothy otieno who is scoring goals day in day out…. sad! Agwanda to me doesn’t look like a striker but a bouncer who has a misplaced profession on the pitch. if we are to play kahata as a no 10 then we should deploy Keli upfront because he has speed and can score goals. nuttal should now try to play with Keli as sole striker and deploy kahata as a no 10 since he is a creator of chances and a genius on the ball. Nuttal should understand this.

This means we are still unbeaten for almost 40 games in KPL. I think it’s time we stopped mourning the departure of Olunga and Kagere. Looks like most of us don’t know that Olunga was never our player in the first instance. It’s just like we recalled Amos Nondi from the SONY loan. You don’t own a shirt ‘loaned’ to you by your best friend to go with for a function. He can recall it any time. On Kagere’s cotraact not being renewed it was a sad affair but even the best of friends at times part ways if one thinks they are getting a raw deal. That doesn’t mean we cannot have our own ‘Kagere’ from the squad. Recruitment of players is always a risk, see what happened to Remy of Chelsea or even Torres. So Gor is no exception. Nobody recruits to fail. This doesn’t mean that I’m holding brief for the EC but we seem to forget that the train already left the station and the best we can do is to wait for it to stop in the next one (June Transfer) to make amendments. So guys you are stuck with Jowi, BB, Omino etc. as strikers. Support them as this is the ONLY option we have

  • Why are we being so cynical about our performances this far? We shall thrash Efusi and from there it will only be up the ladder for Kogalo. I hope to se a very efficient team winning handsomely. May God bless Gor Mahia.

  • Dan Original that’s the biggest reality put in the most diplomatic manner. After all, during last year pre season friendlies especially in Coast and at city stadium I heard very clearly some fans claiming that signing Olunga was the biggest waste since they saw him to be very slow and sluggish, when the season began and thereafter, Gor Mahia created something out of the young determined boy, and we all witnessed what he did. Same with Abondo of whom most said was already old and worn out. Right now we are all wishing he stays just because of his vast contributions last season. Surely we must just remain positive and optimistic. Another Mike and Meddie will eventually be created. After all, to everything under the sun, there is a time for everything. A time to lose and a time to win. May be just to advice the players, Discipline applies everywhere, even in the pitch. Even our own talents must always be embraced with dozens of discipline before we eventually breed success. So all players should just work together with the TB without giving conditions.

    • Thank you for the optimism. We pray for them n let the players b disciplined. Thru god all things are possible. We also thank god for the draws…it cd be worse!

      • Lets forget the past n look to the future with hope. We do our best with the strikers we have. Lets encourage them. They r not bbad at all. We too can contribute in bringing the best out of them by being positive n believing in them. So lets giv them a chance.

  • Dear Nuttal:
Here comes the super Sunday, a pivotal afternoon that will determine the swag and confidence levels in Kogallo.
Thanks for being part of as we mourn the dual loss to Cnaps and the shambolic display in the other kpl encounters.
Thanks for the availability of lullaby excuses like “time to gel, we created many chances but never converted, we lacked a dependable midfielder, our fitness leves were below par, …”
Well and good, this is Kogallo, a replica of the Serengeti plains where lions bring down elephants when the wildbestee are out on holiday. Be sure to avoid being the elephant.
Losing against Ingwe on sunday would raid us of civilization, self-control and our hitherto jealously guarded ‘unbeaten run’ which seemingly is the only diet on our table.
We hereby beg, beseech and request for a minimum of a win at Kasarani on sunday.
Be aware of the fact that am married to an ingwe lady who will render me useless should we lose the match.
