Gor Mahia now set price tag on Masika

Courtesy of michezoafrika.com

A few hours after defender Eric Masika declared his interest to switch allegiance to arch rivals AFC Leopards, his club Gor Mahia has now placed a one million shillings tag for his transfer. Masika is still on contract with Gor Mahia until mid-2012 and for him to move, his new suitors -AFC leopards- have to buy out his contract.

AFC Leopards has termed the tag too expensive for a player who has only five months remaining on his contract but have presented a counter offer in order to ensure the hardworking defender joins the den as soon as possible.

“Gor Mahia gave us their prize and we have responded with our offer, we are now waiting for them to inform us of their decision before we conclude the move. Am sure we will reach an agreement soon.” Said AFC Leopards secretary general Duncan Angode.

AFC Leopards are known for their rich purse when it comes to spending on players.

Masika has already bid farewell to his teammates and Gor Mahia fans thanking them for their support throughout his stay on the green side.

EC do all you can to retain this most talented libero. Image how much more he will blosom under AA. If AFC can pay him 300K,they can afford GM’s demand of 1M. BUT MOST IMPORTANT EC REVEIW TERMS OF ALL PLAYERS-BOTH NEW & OLD N HAVE A SALARY STRUCTURE!

  • Pascal Ochieng is the immediate substute for Masika he mast come home or Brian Mandela

  • if the players heart is elswhere no matter how much you offer he will still move,so let’s keep those who are ready to play for Gor even for `free`.

we can get better players than him althogh itakuwa ngumu but i believe we have replacements.
bring on pascal ochieng who scores frequently.

Let him go and for sure Gor Mahia will still get another defender to play even better than Masika. Gor need to widen their recruitment net wide in order to get other PPOs. There are players outside in Nyanza, Nairobi, R/Valley, Coast etc who are even better than Masika if given chance. Gor Mahia needs to go back to the classroot to cherry pick talents but we can not be moulding players for our opponents. This must be stopped immediately and let then mould their players as well.

its not a big deal, let masika go. kogalo is bigger than any individual. there are beta players out there!

If Kogalo did not want to match the asking fee then they should let him go. Otherwise he may play poorly. The same applies to Ezekiel Odera. If they are not going to use him, they should let him go back to KCB. Odera is an excellent player and wasting his talents on the bench is not fair.

Central Defenders are easy to replace so it shouldn’t be a big deal. Lesson is we should have been paying our players well from the very beginning, esp after the sponsorship. Some of them are leaving because they are discontented with the current salaries and yet they have needs just like any of us. The EC must immediately review all salaries and match if not pay better than all other clubs, i can’t remember a club which has a better fan base than Gor and whose fans actually pay to watch matches live.

The interest of all three stakeholders,GM,Masikaand AFC must be safeguarded in this transfer.
Mugalia has always wanted to join GM but SP’s price tag has hindered GM so far. Therefore if AFC really want Masika now then let them pay the 1M or wait until June n get him on free transfer.
What AFC have done is 2 approach Masika illegally n u don’t do that with a club like K’galo-However our EC must learn frm this saga.

  • MASIKA’S 300K TRASFER DEAL IS FAIR

As I type this comment, the transfer deal has already been sealed. Masika is now the property of AFC Leopards.

One of the responsibilities of the technical bench is to advice the EC on the area they want to be beefed up before the next season. I am sure our EC is now in possession of these proposals. The new signings in our club did not come out of the blue. They must been technically adviced on what kind of player we want and for what reasons.

I believe our team is equal to the task. Coach ZD tried to build a club of the future by recommending young players. Palmeiras FC of Brazil accepted a friendly match with K’ogalo for the same reasons. The average age of of our team is 23.

Let us have faith in our team, support them fervently whenever they need us. I personally respect the decision taken by Masika to move to Ingwe. i will greatly miss him. Nonetheless K’ogalo remain solid with it’s eyes always fixed on the ultimate prize.

The bottom line,is simply better renumeration and welfare for the players.Look at efussi, always flying from nrb-mumias,nrb-msa.Look at their allowances and bonuses.Same to sofapaka, tusker and ulinzi. Our players are all human beings, they just like anybody else have bills to pay and mouths to feed, hence they will always look at the side of their bread which is buttered.
If it is indeed true that we were paying masika 25k and efussi wants to pay him 50k can we really blame the lad for jumping into the offer?i would do the same if i were in his shoes.anyway who wouldnt?Lets’ pay our players well so that we can retain them and also attract the best.Otherwise we dont know who will be targeted next.(i hear that dube, lavatsa mose)are all on their way out.By the way how much are we prepared to pay bob (mugalia) if his deal goes thru?hope not 25k per month.
Having said that,i think the long term solution lies in going for raw talent/school boys/academy boys nurture them incorporate them into the main team then give them long contracts say 5years.That way we will be able to build for the future.

Gor mngt is being stingy to players while putting officials interest at forefront.Just loose Gattuzo and you will come to terms with the wrath of these fans.Lavatsa’s heart left GM ages ago.He should be released to a club of his desire.Any sane person will jump at a double pay offer.Masika is just human like us.He is our product therefore we know him inside out and handling him will not be a problem.the lad he is replacing at AFC will not go down without a real fight.

Ma fans, let us not mourn over Masika’s departure. Flash back, Charles Otieno “Kabanze”, left Gor for Tusker when he was needed most. Little did we know that he was denying Abass Magongo “Zamalek” a chance. His departure was a blessing. Like some of us have put it, we have very many PPO’s, they only need to be given a chance to prove themselves. I am sure within the current squad there is a player who can take up that role confortably. For God and my club Kogallo.

  • it was shocking to know that GOR players are paid 25k per month i think the salaries should be increased yesterday or if not a house allowance should be introduced immediately ,a decent house in an estate that would motivate a player in Nairobi goes for like 20k.you know football is business and if Kogalo pays a minimum salary of kshs.45,000.00 now those players will have alot to loose if they leave the team.that wage will be at par with the name GORMAHIA AS YOU KNOW THE PAY AFFECTS THE PEDIGREE and if wages are not addressed we can kiss the hopes of lifting the 2012 league goodbye-i wont accept the excuse that the club is unable to pay…..!

    Godfrey,
Fast, Situma is a walk along defender, He is the least of them all in defence.
second, With the descipline Masika has, he is destined far. I pray that we get someone soon!!!! kindly go extreme.
third, it is a big shame for such a club of this magnitude to be paying peanuts. I told you all early about the salaries…someone nearly killed me.
The least we are going to pay will be 50k.
I asked someone to challenge me on better ways of raising good money and even forget TUZO’s dark deals.

I agree 101% that players should be well remunerated however Gor does not have that kind of money. I have read somebody’s comment here trying to detail the clubs income, but unfortunately he left a lot of things out. The money is not just for paying salaries. There are other expenses that if you add up overweighs the income. I think we should be trying to wow more sponsors than bad mouthing the current and the only sponsor so far. For God and my club Kogallo

I agree with you Kasero. We ought to look for more sponsors so as players and the technical bench can feel proud of being in KOGALO.not only salaries, we have to look for avenues to motive players.the new office should go extra mile on this.otherwise we sober up. Players come and go maybe GOD has the purpose we might get a better defender than PPO only to wish him well coz GOR MAHIA has made him what he is now.

I think AFC is a club just like GM.
If we are handling their welfare badly its not their fault.
If we have many other things to cater for its not their responsibility.
I can bet a lot of well meaning parents and guardians would not recommend their Children to a pathetic club that feels 25k is good money for players or even 45k in a country where clubs now pay 100k.
Masika PPO is only getting responsible and being a role model to not only footballers but sports people in other disciplines by demonstrating that a career must be sustaining to the participants.

If we have other things to cater for then lets cater for them and let the players chose..if anything the continental involvement is not food or house that a player feeds on and with time other teams will also go continental.

The matter is the gate collections, Tuzo sponsorship hyped as the highest in the country and fan base should have enabled good salaries to our players.

  • WHY THESE LAMENTATIONS?

It is sad to loose very promising and young players because we cannot pay them well.

Going forward, it is up to us to find ways of generating revenue to the club. Apart from the gate collections and the Tuzo sponsorship, i am not aware of any other ways the club is pursuing in order to generate more revenue. It is yet too early to blame the new team at the helm of K’ogalo.

If my memory serves me right, the only lady now seating at the EC was electing on the platform of business acumen. He promised fans that she would be instrumental in devising ways to improve revenue for the club. K’ogalo cannot afford to it’s players a paltry 25k. Let us not lament if we witness an exodus of players who are seeking greener pastures elsewhere.

This should serve as a wake up call to the great men and women at the leadership of K’ogalo. I believe they have what it takes to improve the fortunes of this club. I am equally dismayed by the way we are loosing very potential players. The onus lies with the officials.

If we are unable to get more sponsors, either come up with another way of increasing K’ogalo home matches gate collection by making sure if last season you used to come alone to the stadium you make sure you come with 1 or 2 more friends. But this can only happen if we are sure we have failed to get some more sponsors.

Could we as fans enumerate the players we have?
    Is there a crisis?
Are we lacking players in camp?

Masika has left but there are so many good players at GM some of whom are yet to play.

    There is no crisis.

If that be the case bro oluoch..then just take a glance at players entering the camp and you will ask why the team recruits in nyanza and pulls the signing crisis button as if GM has just been promoted to KPL. Oluoch just refer to our most probable 1st eleven and you may be worried more. Someone mentioned it at the finals of FKL Cup but we vigourously shout him out..am beginning to get his point! If anything that other one has been loudly indisciplined and playing suspiciously. BUT ALL IN ALL WE HAVE FAILED TO PAY OUR PLAYERS THEY DESERVE A LIFE WE HAVE REFUSED TO PROVIDE. UKWELI USEMWE.
