Gor Mahia starts new era
Following the arrival of Scot Bobby Williamson to replace Croatian Zdravko Logarusic, Gor Mahia are set to embark on a new era as they take on Bandari this Sunday. Nevertheless, Bobby Ogolla , the interim coach will likely still be in charge on Sunday as Kogalo take on Bandari at Mbaraki sports club.
Ogolla was optimistic; “It is a big match for us,”. “It is our chance,” he went on, “and we want to take it. We know it will be hard playing them away until the end, and the only way we can deal with that is to look at ourselves and win the game.
“We are hugely determined and, of course, there’s a target for every single game. But let’s start by being completely focused on the next one and continue to play well in the rest.” Ogolla told the clubs site.
Last season Bandari beat Gor Mahia 1-0 at Mbaraki on a rain drenched field in which the field was so unplayable that the game should probably have been canceled if FIFA rules were followed.

After the Bandari match Williamson will have an opportunity to stamp his impression on the team. At this point, the team badly needed an injection of fresh ideas. With Logarusic in charge, it seemed that other teams had figured out how to stop Gor Mahia. And Logarusic seemed to have run out of ideas. This is why with a few exceptions, coaches rarely stay at one team for long. There comes a time when a team needs the introduction of new ideas.
Skipper Jerim Onyango has welcomed the arrival of Williamson. “We welcome the appointment of Williamson as our new coach and his addition will be vital to what our current coach Bobby Ogolla has been imparting on us .Williamson is a very experienced coach with continental experience and I believe this will be a huge turning point for Gor Mahia.”.
“As players we will cooperate and learn new techniques from him while hoping that his vast knowledge will help us to win titles,” Onyango told supersport.com.
now we have the best coach in East Africa coaching the best most supported and decorated club in East Africa….match made in heaven
Logarusic did not run out of ideas. It is the disjointed EC who failed him. I pray the same does not happen to the new coach. A coach can stay with a club even for 10 yrs and still deliver.
As much as Lopa cited interference from the EC anybody could see that his confidence levels had gone down. As a coach he was never anymore confident as we prepared to play the Muhoronis, homeboys and other lowly teams. Even where we wom it was no longer convicingly
The office is already disorganised, if not then what do you call this. I saw Gor players converging at the green rose restaurant near nyayo stadium at 8pm this evening. If they travel by road they will be in msa on Sunday morning, very tired,n sleepy. In that state, do we expect to beat bandari? I now know why loga was pushed out. I thought the team was suppose tobe in msa earlier, relax n acclimatise with the weather? This office doesn’t want that because it involves spending. Shame on you EC n the TM. If we don’t win tomorrow I shall have known why.
Whether head coach or deputizing, mimi na Sir Bobby to the end. We welcome the green army to Mombasa and to Dunga Unuse slums in particular. Guys let us cheer Gor Mahia today like never before. Our vocal support can disorganize their dangermen Shaban Kenga (7), Tevelu (24) and Jersey 12. Eric Okoth (9)is a dangerous opportunist and if we cheer him down well then we shall hand Sir Bobby a win against Bandari in Mombasa for the first time since 1993 (the last time we beat Bandari with Tobby Ochola scoring a long range volley deep in injury time to hand Bandari a 2-1 loss). Arrumtiddi and Kassam Mwivangano kindly note that I have your tickets to the match.
Bandari always prefer to start the game facing south in the first half when there is no wind from the ocean. The strong wind from the ocean comes in the second half and assists them against weary opponents who now have to battle their opponents as well as the wind. Jerry Jagoal take note of that so that should you have a chance to select sides, please choose to start from the northern half.
As we pray to win todays match let us pray that God gives our player teddy strength to move on as he mourns the loss of his brother.
Pole Teddy for your loss.
pole teddy
A hard fighting Kogalo signifies their intention to win this match. Cant wait for the 2nd half with 1nil lead. You go boys!
Congrats boys for the win. Kudos for taking the match to Bandari in the first half but what happened in the second half. For our strikers let’s put away the chances like that of Kiongera from Danny. Missing such chances can make us regret later
Congratulations guys. That is very inspiring
Pole sana Teddy, may God grant your family peace at this trying times.
