Gor Mahia take on Nakuru All Stars

On Sunday at Nyayo stadium, Gor Mahia will take on Nakuru All Stars. Gor Mahia will be attempting to put behind them the dissapointing scoreless draw against Western Stima last weekend in Kisumu. It was a tough match with Gor Mahia playing on very little rest.

“We have fully recovered from the tough Western Kenya trips and we’ve prepared well. All my boys are in sound condition and we have a full squad to make selection from. ” said coach Nuttall according to futaa.com.

On paper the match looks easy. All Stars are rooted to the bottom of the league table with 3 points. The same position they finished last year. However last year, it was All Stars who subjected Gor Mahia to their first defeat of the season. And at that point, All Stars had not won a single game, Gor Mahia for their part were in the throes of unrest with rumours of animosity between certain players and the Ugandan trio. The disunity showed on the field as Gor Mahia put on a sloppy display to lose 2-0.

All Stars coach Peter Okidi says they can repeat that feat and his side is not intimidated by Kogalo

“We defeated them (Gor) last season under these same circumstances so why should anyone write us off? A lot can happen in the 90 minutes of football and my team is fully aware of the job ahead and we have prepared adequately,”said Okidi to the Nation.

Coach Nuttall is not under-rating the Nakuru based side.

“I am expecting a tough match as always because any game against us is always tough no matter who the opponents are. Every team always want the best out of it thus making it a tough encounter”, he said

Ali Abondo, fresh of his player of the month award will once again be counted on to secure the much needed three points along with the duo of Kagere and Olunga which has proven lethal of late. Boniface Oluoch who has been solid between the sticks will once again be called up to maintain a clean sheet as he has done over the past six games.  Gor Mahia fans will be hoping that Kogalo can put additional distance from their closest rivals.
