Gor Mahia to contest ruling
Secretary general George Bwana has indicated that Gor Mahia plan to appeal the ruling made by KPL that called for a replay of their match against SoNy Sugar.
According to Bwana, the KPL is applying double standards. In a posting made on social media, Bwana said “When a match is abandoned in those circumstances ,someone must be responsible for the abandonment. The rules must apply evenly and we will be challenging the KPL ruling. We have been made to pay dearly for our fans’ alleged misbehavior in the past. Why is it different when we are the offended?”
Faiz says no to replay
However Vice Chairman Faiz Ochieng has indicated to michezoafrika.com that the club will not accept to play SoNy Sugar again.
“We will not play Sony Sugar again. We did nothing wrong. It is Sony Sugar players who are to blame for everything that occurred. We scored the second goal and were going for the third before the Sony Sugar goalkeeper (Wycliffe Kasaya) hit the linesman and our own keeper Jerim Onyango.”
“Our players had already at the center of the pitch ready for restart and it is Sony who forced the match to be abandoned.”
The vice chair has also taken a dig into KPL’s ruling saying that it is one sided and one aimed at intimidating K’Ogalo.
“ I want to tell KPL that we will not be intimidated and we will not accept to be armtwisted. Can you imagine if it were Gor Mahia’s home match?”
“ They (KPL) were not there. The only person who was there is GMT Otieno. Infact I called Jack Oguda(KPL C.E.O) and told him that the ground was not capable of hosting us. He told that they had put all secutiry measures in place which was not the case.”
“My question is, will they compensate us, will they compensate the fans who travelled from all the corners of this country to watch us play?”
“We are focusing on our next league match but not this match against Sony. KPL should look deeper into the matter,” concluded Ochieng to michezoafrika.com
My fellow followers of Gor Mahia, I want to kindly appeal to you that the time has come for us to point out the rot in KPL. Let us with one voice say A BIG NO to every machinations aimed at us by KPL. Please kindly read my article .#24 on Gor Mahia/SONY match to be Replayed. The conclusion is yours.
Ooh Laa la “FACTS WILL REMAIN FACTS DESPITE TWIST & TURNS”
Comrade @ le Pastre, thank you for that wonderful observation, analysis and conclusion. For once i have someone whom we share the same opinion. God bless you with more wisdom, so that you join me in helping our brothers and sisters who still think that we as GOR MAHIA belong to the UTOPIAN world where football is a game of SAINTS and ANGELS.

And now Nyamweya is singing the same tune that is the match was abandoned who coursed it? you can not say it was abandoned and you say no one coursed the abandonment, same KPL accused us when we played ulinzi and ulinzi were rewarded and ended up lifting the supper 8,the question is why the sudden change?
Heheheheheh Ogango Trailer. Well said my brother. Oguda and the men of his ilk must be exposed for who they are and for trying to underestimate our intelligence. We have consumed all the FIFA statutes governing football. Apply the rule book and avoid the shame that is About to befall you and your company Mr Oguda. TOGETHER WE CAN DEFEAT the evils visited on football lovers in this country. Huu NI HUJUMA and we cannot assume the position of sycophants while the administration of our football is left in the hands of CARTELS and WHEELER DEALERS. No, we shall not retreat nor surrender until we rid our football management off these INCOMPETENT, CORRUPT and GREEDY individuals. I am greatly disappointed in GMT Otieno if he was the match Commissioner for this particular match.
Le Pastre@1, i read your article and i agree with you but please try and address the issue of our fans (thugs) also. They were in the mix and there is photographic evidence of them in the pitch when the match was disrupted. We have goons in our midst and many decisions will not sound good to us so long as we try to cover these fellows.
When one hears the news of violence and disruption from ‘Albert’s Sofaset’ in Kampala, Kisumu or Nairobi, what comes to mind is our fans. Even Oguda from his sofa had a formed opinion before he read the report. The office even tried explaining at Kasarani that the people who broke chairs were thugs but we all condemned the EC and said the thugs were part of us. I was at Kasarani on the said day and believe it or don’t the chairs were broken after the game was over and real fans had left.
In Awendo, our fans jumped over the fence and onto the pitch. That is the truth and there are photos online. There was excitement just like there was after recovering against AFC. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Let us not jump onto the pitch because Kasaya hit a linesman or because Zico has gotten an uppercut.
Right now the EC is saying Gor players and fans had no role in the disrupted match. Who can swear that this is the case. Nobody can. We know ourselves too well.
Let us repeat the match and try and get 3 points. In any case Ingwe are crying that Oguda is giving us free points. Let us take them.
I would not hold my breath on the utterances of these two.
The lure of money is too much 4 them. This is their usual knee jerk, fast on the trigger chest thumping only 4 end result 2 turn out very different. The 2 never suffer indigestion from eating their own words. Personally i think its a strategy of positioning oneself 2 b corrupted
GM was right on the Rama, Kasarani cases but bloated EC was compromised, WHY?
If afc are criying thats should not concern gor.the villager
Everything you blame on gor fans yet you dnt look on those sony
fans who don green jersey with an s written on there chest,so those
were gor fans.kuweni watu wazuri bwana
contd…
How does EC accept (in writing to SSMB) 2 b liable 4 the actions of everyone/anyone wearing a GM jersey.
I REPEAT EC SHOULD USE THIS OPPORTUNITY 2 GET OUT OF THE SECURITY ISSUE. ITS A TIME BOMB.
DISGRUNTLED TEAMS/OFFICIALS ETC WILL SIMPLY HIRE THUGS,BUY THEM GM JERSEYS AND ORDER THEM 2 WAIT FOR AN OPPORTUNITY STORM THE PITCH.
EC HAS NO CAPACITY TO HANDLE ALL THE COMPLEX ASPECTS OF SECURITY.
I believe everyone has an opinion on this matter but the problem is that the ref;s and match commisaire’s report is all that matters. I thought the ruling was a blessing in disguise for us to now take the two extra points. Or is there something we are ‘fearing’ about the replay. From what I hear and read is that both sets of fans (and obviously the stadium was 95% Gor) broke into the field and the ref had to stop the match for security reasons. How does Oguda come for roasting in this case. Unfortunately our EC, especially Faiz, does not know how to handle such issues (remeember the Kasarani seats issue) . We need someone diplomatic to present the club concerns with consideration and not just blurbing only to bitterly swallow his words.
The issue is let’s go to Afraha pick the three points and move on. The issue of indisciplined players and coached will hopefully be handled in another forum by KPL.
As @The Villager puts it we are not any innocent from what happened with our fans who easily get excited and in the process cause self-inflicted damages/injuries/losses
The question is in the air, who can swear that GM fans did not join in the pitch invasion mess? Kasayas & Zicos were in there too. The report claimed to be doctored mentions insecurity caused by fans jamming the field of play! These facts have been confessed in this blog including detailed account of a wonder right handed blow on Zico (reported by one of our own Trailerman) since ‘we’ participated in the melee, let’s accept responsibility and play the rematch. Its time we are actually shown and told consequences of choices including the sin of invading the pitch and bad reputation.
@Kassam Mwivangano well-said. We cannot always play victim when we actually cause some of those problems. Had our fans stayed put who knows, the game might have ended in our favour. I only wish @Faiz and @Bwana would use the same forum to call for calmness on the fans and not always turn a blind eye as they ‘commit’ the small sins in the stadia
when you have visitors in your house and your kids are all over misbehaving, its up to you and your wife to calm them down.we have erratic and overzealous fans….the EC must find a way of “educating” them on the cons of pitch invasion, stone throwing, harassment of players and opposing fans, destruction of property and all other vices associated with football hooliganism!!
The fact that our fans invaded the pitch was used as a yardstick to deny us the 3 points. When will these deluded fans ever exercise restraint??
Now aren’t we confusing issues here.
1.Y does the so called home team pocket the whole gate collection.
2.Y is the security responsibility entrusted fully on home team(though clubs will never have the capacity) in return 4 taking 100% of the gate collections.
3.@ Oswozo when ua children misbehave in your house then its ua responsibility,Awendo wasn’t GM’s house, twas Sony’s.
Then Le Pastre asks Y WOULD “GM” FANS DISRUPT A GAME AFTER EQUALIZING.
I POSE HOW DO U EDUCATE SABOTEURS IN GM JERSEYS!
Contd…
When home teams (our away games) make security arrangements which r passed as adequate by KPL,
Are there special arrangements made 4 so called”GM” fans & how r they identified?
How is Gor Mahia still expected 2 control its so called “fans” when all security matters r handled by the home team i.e City Stars & Sony.
IS IT ONLY I WHO FINDS THIS AN IMMPOSSIBLE SITUATION & WORSE EC GIVES SSMB A WRITTEN ACCEPTANCE 2 B RESPONSIBLE 4 ACTS COMMITTED WHEN THEY R NOT EVEN IN CHARGE OF SECURITY!
repeat the game and stop yapping ec we need the points and to my beloved mighty green army its the wrath of the grapes we have a bad reputation we can never have the benefit of doubt.if we want respect we must kick out hooliganism out of the stadium remember respect is earned not forced.
@paw akuche: well said. exactly how are they now sure that it’s sony fans who invaded the pitch. the gor reputation is as bad as they come. ogada and his ilk like bwana are ppl who think that once they get into office then things will just work out fine. ogada does not even hold sony responsible for security, why didn’t sony provide security to hold back these fans. why is gor always being asked to give it’s security plans before a match. when gor is the away team then all about security goes quiet. for gor even though it deserves to be given the match it’s fans reputation denies it this chance. it will seem as a open case of bias. sony has done to gor what gor has done as routine it terms of fan mis-behaviour. so it’s a pity when bwana now cries foul. the problem i have with the likes of bwana is that why do they kpl club officials live with ppl like ogada. this guy has been incompetent from the word go. my argument is that when gor was on the wrong he was incompetent so why does bwana expect this ogada to be competent now. ogada (et sony and the rest of the other clubs)will simply point out how many times gor has been favoured. knowing the psyche of gor fans the only ppl(to the detriment of their carriers) who knew what they were doing are kasaya and zico. so much dust is now in the air what we now have in our midst is ‘goldenberg’.the two patnis have go free. so begin the arguments and counter arguments, yet the reasons why such situations continue to occur remain the same.
1. on what grounds is the ref asking for a re-match yet both teams were ready to play.(according to report)
2. who was in charge of security, why have they not given a report as to what was on the ground.
3. given that sony agrees that they were ready to play after the contested match, so what caused the fans to invade the field! why didn’t the fans invade the pitch for the other 3 goals. someone caused this invasion.
ogada will close his eyes to this and so will bwana for the obvious reasons. but the sad part they will both argue and present cases of fairness as TRUE hypocrates.
… as paw akuche ends it… kick out hooliganism in both fans and players… and the rest will fall in place. the others have now learnt from kasaya, but where did he learn it from?
@Dinga who is r=this Ogada you are refering to? Is it by any chance Oguda. I stand to be corrected but to me Oguda and Co. have run the TPL/KPL show very competently. Currently our league is one of the best in Africa but soccer being an emotional game we will never appreciate them especially the BIG boys. As it is only Ingwe and now Gor feel that Oguda is against them but all this stems from the supporters of these two teams. The teams with fewer fans like City stars, KCB etc have no issue with KPL since they don’t get themselves into some of these issues. On security and fans the issue is that we don’t need policemen with helmets, guhs and other anti-riot gear in a football match. But because of our predictive behaviour this is now the norm. You go to a Gor?ingwe match and you wonder whether you are going to a political rally by the nature of the security officers’ presence. Why does it not happen in Europe where there are close to 90K fans attending a match. By blaming inadequate security on SONY what would you as a parent go visiting a family and your children, because of their upbringing cause damage the the host’s property? You will have to take some responsibility for some of the ‘damage’. By the way who gave Gor fans the responsibilty to protect the ref by scaling the fence. Wasn’t that what the police were supposed to do?
To me we are as much culpable as SONY on this issue and a replay is the better option. As someone put it we have been given a chance to get three points instead of that one. I thought Bwana and Faiz could now be psyching the players on how to win the rematch instead of raising mayhem on the same. I’m still lokking for even one word where they castigate our fans who take the law into their own hands.
I think some comments here encouraging hooliganism. If we don’t address this problem of our fans being always on wrong side,we might one day get very heavy fines. Suppose this was an international match just think of what would have happened.Madness fans are giving GM a very negative media coverage. It’s better to have 100 royal and better behaved fans than having a crowd of 20,000 hooligans. We are lucky the Sony players were protesting but if this match would have been stopped because of fans destroying part of the fence within the stadium,we would have lost.Suppose the same hooligans we are defending go to Afuraha and invade the stadium again.Sony mighty have done some mistakes but on our side were we real innocent?
My advice to the EC is to come up with a proper campaign against hooliganism. Something of the magnitude of the anti-jigger campaign. Not some five officials holding handkerchiefs at City Stadium.
Please use sober fans like Jaro Soldier and together with the sponsor, spend some money and get the message across to all Kogalo and soccer lovers countrywide. I’m sure Supersport, FKF and KPL will give some airtime and funds for the same. Use TV, Radio, Newspapers, T-shirts, Posters, School Games, Our Players and all available media to sustain the campaign.
The other option is to bury our heads in the sand and watch as we loose money every season. I’m sure we all know how many bans Nyamweya has saved our team from (not sure if it was free). We know how many bans Supersport has handed on us. We know which team is SSMB’s cash cow. We know how much money we continue to loose and how we can’t afford the top players when competing with much smaller teams.
Rachier and team, please get serious.
Villager@19..i agree with you and what Oswozo@12 has said.Fan education against hooliganism is what Gor Mahia must invest in.Lets not be in denial here….some fans have really spoiled the GM brand and this sad trend must be arrested sooner rather than later!!!
@Fred, @Omoke and @The villager this hooliganism mess will be a hard nut to crack. What with some seasoned bloggers here celebrating that someone (not sure whether it was a coach or player) was given an upper cut in the field!!! This disease must be eradicated whether it’s SONY, Ingwe or even Gor who are involved. The handkerchiefs averted clashes between the fans and hawkers for that day but we need something we can sustain. As put earlier we need ambassadors amongst the fans who can spread the right messages. I have in mind fans like Jaro Soja, Mike Okinyi, Ogidi, our own Mwakio etc
Gentlemen am very suddened with some of the comments i read here, and from the look of things most of the bloggers here were not in awendo,we might have been wrong some other time but not everytime, infact from my view because i was there this was the first time our fans were well behaved, first sony was to provide full and detailed security here what happened?,for those who were there as u saw it and to be honest its the sony players and there TB plus their fans who invaded the pitch and started beating the match officials, infact our fans got into the stadium when now these now some of us call the good boys from sony started harassing our players led by one kasaya, kasaya beat Jerry and went for Musa Mohamed who did not took his stupid behaviour lightly and they xchanged some few blows,he thought Musa was Jerry, but Jerry behaved well since he is the captain, musa could not take the nonsense from this useless kasaya, this is now the time when our fan got into the pitch just to protect our players n the match officials from the so called well behaved sony fans and players, all this were happening while the police were there watching and some of us here kwa blog even accusing our EC,seriously hata kama our EC is incompitent hapa tunawakosea please we can not blame the on everything and on anything yawa
My observation is that there are two levels of football rules:-1.That governs gor mahia
2. for other football teams.
It seems our football administrators dont know football rules. i think there is FIFA fare play. where referee is right. if a party feels wrong decision by the referee, they should a peal after the match. Players should be disciplined, the bench should be discipline because there behavior in the field can insight fans. Because they dont expect Kasaya to be punching Jerry and there fans to just leave it like that.IF KPL WANT TO BE CLAWLESS let the match be replayed because they are agaist Gor mahia taking league. In history of football Gor have suffered on this and we have payed dearly in the past. Oguda three points is ours.
Jarae inside the field of play even if the players are fighting you dont get in there whatever happens its a no go zone.Hiyo ni himaya/Territory ya FIFA/CAF /FKL watu kama hao.
And if you are a green army please talk responsibly in terms soccer you are supposed to be the BIG BROTHER you should be the example guys.Pana leta kesi ati Kasaya alipiga mtu ngumi…hiyo si kazi yetu let the right people deal with that, had peace been kept the referee could have given out a red card and then beating sony could have been easier. As the big brother you show younger siblings by good examples you know …then you earn alot of respect.
@erico: it’s pitty to hear such comments from you. i suppose these ‘fans’ just reason like you. is your reasoning based on the fact that u were in awendo? the point most are stressing hear is about hooliganism. how do you reason that it’s the ‘fans’ who should provide security to the players. according to you ‘WELL BEHAVED gor fans got into the pitch to protect the players’… with such reasoning then probably this hooliganism will be a permanent feature in kenyan football.
there is a reason why we have security personnel in this world, it’s to provide security and let the fans do their work of cheering. the ec is simply chewed the fruits of what it has always ignored to address hence the blame it’s getting here. the match was brought to an end coz of hooliganism. according to you it was sony, and according to sony fans it was ‘security men’ like you. so who is right? that is why we have policemen. what has bwana et ambrose done when gor fans met out their bad behaviour on others – ANSWER, they bought handkerchieves and called the fans hooligans. they actually deny these are not gor fans then ironically pay the fine. what has oguda done about security in general, nothing. goes as far as claiming there was enough security in awendo, does nothing on a referee who suddenly decides to stop a match yet both teams a ready to play(as per report), does nothing on players who decide they can play football, provide security and give instant justice.
so erico, when you and the rest of the security invaded the pitch to do your work was any there intention that the match was going to continue? i am assuming that since u were carrying out a task mandated to you, there was intention for a good ending. what happened??
@ Erico Jarae , please preserve your energy, relax and wait for the next GM episode. The good news is that for any debate on this blog we only offer suggestion or comment on our preferred positions and as such their is no INDIVIDUAL who holds some stake above the other when it comes to K’Ogalo.
Trying to convince some TOM,DICK & HARRY of this blog, is like playing a game of musical chairs during a birthday party to a drove of domesticated animals, that will never get anything beyond the NOISE levels. What they see, hear, yell, dream or meditate in K’Ogalo is HOOLIGANISM and nothing more.
These guys are very much entitled to their own opinion over our fans behavior on that fateful day as much as i am also very proud of the disciplinary actions OF THE RIGHT HAND BLOW THAT SEND ONE ZICO SCAMPERING TO THE GROUND. He actual deserved a second one but he was lucky to have been rescued. As long as K’Ogalo did not provoke the situation they were well behaved.
Let the decision be ruled by fair existing rules…we witnessed the same case for Gor-Ulinzi and FC-Chemeli games in the past, why do wi twist the rules now against Gor Biro ?????????????
We have been having problem playing sony in awendo, always there must be a fight,in 2008 for those who were there and can remember we were beaten by sony fans seriously mpaka tukaingia tukajificha kwa miwa, and that was not because we were rowdy.sony since they came to the league wamekua na shida na Gor the reason has been the rivalry that was there between Kamenya clan and Kanyamwa clan, just get anybody from Kamenya will tell u that they dont like Gor because of that nothing else,so this is why there must be chaos whenevwer we play sony in awendo, thats why we av been insisting playing them on a newtral ground not awendo
IN DEFENSE OF EC.
Thank you Erico, just wht I and the majority
of Kogalo followers would have wnted to hear. The matter at hand is about an abandoned match hence it requires strict interpretation of law and adherence to the same law governing Abandoned Matches. It has nothing to do with the performance of the EC of Gor Mahia. But There’s this select group of fans who thrives on making the lives of the members of the EC a living nightmare. They see the members of the EC in every wayward behaviour leave alone the offences committed by anyone remotely associated with Gor Mahia in the name of a fan. Rarely have I heard them offer congratulatory messages to the EC for the success this club has achieved under their noble watch. They choose to forget tht these are offences committed by people in their individual and private capacity as fans/followers of Gor Mahia. I don’t see how the EC becomes accountable for criminal ACTS committed by people in their individual and private capacity as fans of the club. I’m not condoning hooliganism and violence in our stadiums, far from it. I have been in the forefront then and now calling for the profiling, naming and removal of hooligans and hooliganism from our stadiums. And I shall not stop. Those who are ceaselessly bashing the EC on HOOLIGANS and HOOLIGANISMs must know that It is the responsibility of each one of us- (FANS/FOLLOWERS) to help in eradicating this vice. How many of us have given the names of these goons to the police/or anyone in the EC and they failed to ACT!! Its not the sole responsibility of the EC!! No, it is not. I say this because these hooligans are well-known to us. They are either our brothers, neighbours, fathers, sons, daughters, boyfriends, workmates or even girlfriends, name it. We must ask ourselves the hard questions on wht roles we have played or are playing to help remove hooliganism from our stadiums. Come out of it and spare these hard-working men and women the flak. They have sacrificed a lot to see this Club where it is today!!! Good managers offer solutions to the problems raised. They don’t endlessly complain like this group of fans! These calibre of fans must desist from their usual tongue lashing and unmerited bashing of the EC. Please kindly shut up because if the EC has failed, you have failed together with them! You have not offered us the solutions tht we need to drive out hooliganism from our stadiums. Fellow genuine followers of Kogalo, this is the time for ALL of us to join hands together in NAMING, SHAMING and REMOVING these hooligans from our stadiums. Its tragic and immoral to continue standing aside, folding our hands only to emerge whenever ACTS of Hooliganism have been committed condemning the EC. Its the opportune time for us to stop waving imaginary white handkerchiefs at press conferences and ACT. It serves nobody when we constantly malign and castigate the EC on ACTS of Hooliganism, while we offer no solutions to this problem and it continues to bedevil us.
La Pastre well said but dont you see to it that the so called EC should take the lead in that these people are in office.
We have time and again gave solutions on how at the bare minimal we think hooliganism can be dealt with and whatever suggestions that personally i have made is like profiling the pictures of the individuals from both electronic and print media and give it to the police for the individuals to be summoned by the police to help with investigations this is something that the EC should be able to undertake quite easily as opposed to waving the white handkerchiefs.
I also think that hooliganism is an ogre that must be the priority no.1 of any EC with the business side of the club in mind therefore in my estimate i cant fathom how the EC should be exonerated from blame in this one,yes they have done a good job read Ambrose Rachier to remove us where we were but the journey has just started we need a big mentality to reach there.
